Excessive EO = excessive engine pressure. Some bikes can take it (when new), others blow up, start having leaky gaskets (ie, "eating oil" requiring frequent topups), thanks to whomever suggested 2 litres of oil in Phantom. I'll murder him myself.

 

Yep, we're serious. 1 litre of good oil is adequate.

depending your th stat of your machine.

some can use 1l for 5months with no problem.

some has to top up 400ml every 2weeks.

some has to fill up 1.5l every month.

get your trusted mech to advise.

 

personally mine, 1.4 - 1.5l a month..

ah chong did 1.2l for me he said there was once one kuku put 4 bottles of eo... wow den he say the whole bike bleeding everywhere lol

personall once 1.7k , eO left in bike was 1/4.. Give myself 4mths ( if i wack engine) to overhaul engine.. Hense i ride gentle gentle right now..

Type and brand of oil also determines evaporation/leakage loss.

 

My bike hates Motul 5100. Half of it evaporates away under heavy duty loads. Castrol 10W40, and Motul 3000 mineral does not evaporate, only loses lubrication and protective properties as they shear down quite rapidly. Chex 9000 stays in and sticks to everything like glue. Which is great for cold starts! It has also stopped a minor leak from the top end of the engine.

 

Chex can thus survive higher combustion pressure from modified intake and water injection, as well as 3 hour long traffic jam this morning. I will have the fuel-air intercooler running by tonight :3

forsay mine, ive a hole in my crankcase, which wld leak EO if not taken care of.

that's th cause of my EO 'disappearing', hurting th piston & all end up overhauling.

 

now ive to fill 1.5l cause im having a bigger piston & somehow th EO gets burns off more thn a usual ta2..

1.5 is abit too much la, but just playing safe.. once bitten by th overhaulin bill, twice shy twards not having sufficient EO..

 

every bike is like every person, different in a certain way.

learn from your bike, like how you learn from anyone else.

adapt to th way your bike react to certain situation (road condition, engine issue, load issue etc etc).

your bike & yourself = one.

feel th bike, treat it like a person, shower it with tender loving care & it'll repay you with th kinda performance you long for.

normally i change EO every 3000-4000km; not sure why people go by months when engine life measured in distance traveled is more realistic?

go by month cause th distance traveled daily is more or less th same.

totalling up to lets say 3000 amonth wld be 300 a day.

if i tavel 300 a day, i change EO monthly its as good as 3000km 1 EO change.

but since i travel lesser thn 300 a day & i change EO on a monthly basis,

it add up to changing EO earlier.

precaution to insufficient or 'expired' EO..

 

looking at milage to change EO cld be good & bad too.

at 1000km point, your crank starts t leak without you realising, you'd be running 2000km on probably insufficient EO.

this is just an example of bad point.

Was at Ah chong today & 1 brader asked me if I've changed my clutch plates, steering cone & ball bearings. What do these do & how to know when to change?

 

I asked him but he didnt really explain, just said good to change when buy over a bike. It came up when were chatting where i told him I have difficulty engaging neutral gear.

since ur at ah chong, ask him to test ride and c if anything need to chg... his advice is the best compared to this unknowned brader...

 

btw anyone kno wads the power (xxHP) of our ta?

If it ain't broke don't fix it. There are easy ways to tell if a steering cone, wheel bearing, etc require replacement. Save the moolah for more critical repairs.

 

Unless you want to be like me and pay 3.6k for a fully rebuilt bike.

 

I did some rough calculations on similar compression engines from Honda, of varying displacements and we should be generating about 17hp tops. I have no idea what my mods do in the absence of a proper RPM meter, vacuum gauges, and oh... a dyno.

 

I just know that it's the new up-the-Sheares Bridge-challenge champ for class 2b :3

There are easy ways to tell if a steering cone, wheel bearing, etc require replacement.

 

How ah for steering cone & wheel bearing?

Cone - as Luke aka Silent Hunter will tell you; the handlebar rotation should be smooth and not have some strange spot where the steering is stuck. You can test this while stationary.

 

Wheel bearing - Failing wheel bearings usually tell you way in advance of their failure, by "rumbling" or "moaning" noises that will dissuade you from taking any corners at too high a speed (sound comes from lubrication failure of the bearing and you can save them by squirting chain lube on them - just did it :3)

 

If you get funny noises its time to replace the wheel bearings, or also if its wobbly in the corner or the bike appears to wander here and there in a straight line.

does anyone kno how to clean the inside of our tank? coz im now working on my paintwork and the fuel opening is actually sealed, but i can hear some sandy sound inside the tank when i shake it... so do we use fuel and shake it ard den flush out or diesel or just normal water will do? water will be very much more ezier as i dun haf to go suck my own petrol out frm my bike n use n more cost efficient
