Pls bear in mind that the clutch plates consist of the following:

1. 6 x steel clutch plate ($7 each)

2. 7 x carbon fiber clutch plate ($14 each)

And if u were to change clutch plates, u will need to drain eng oil and again, u haf to top up 3.5litres of eng oil. ($15 x 4 = $60) prices all quoted from GUan Hoe

wat im trying to drive at is, know wat u r changing so u wont kana tok.

No more regrets.

u sure about the EO? don't think so leh.. the gear system, clutch plates isn't it seperated from engine.. i changed clutch plates for my sp b4 and basically thats done aft the EO change. that time did full servicing..

i checked with the mechanic at southern, the fella said EO no need change..

abt the problems, i narrowed it down to the plates, coz initially i suspected the cables and turn out it wasn't the case.. Difficulity to kick neutral, slow pick up, difficulity to change gears are tell tail signs of clutch plates worn out. But then a worn out cable may have the same symtoms but can be checked by adjusting freeplay..

oh well, i may be wrong.. but thanks for the quote.. EO aside, that works out to ard 140 bucks

last i heard it failed inspection coz the mod tailboard exceeds stock length

Well...... tats odd.... cos the g4 ain't running on dry clutch.

The EO lubricates the clutch plates thus oil that has been used over its lifespan also produces the effects of that you mentioned as well.... hard to change gear, hard to change to neutral.

Another symptom of worn clutch plates is when you feel your bike moving slowly even after you have clutched in fully after engaging 1st gear. Of course, that can also be due to worn cable or your connections are loose.

Best is you bring your bike to a mech you trust for a diagnosis. You can always get a second opinion, its free.

So in conclusion, a change of clutch plates do require you to change your EO unless you want to reuse the oil, which may have been changed recently(to save $$) but that is up to individual preference.

LOL... azman! Nv advice him change to stock fairing when going inspection.

U better check with them becoz changing of clutch plates requires draining of eng oil. :goodluck:
