maybe you can try K&T. Clifford does a good job of tuning and troubleshooting the bike and so far.. I've had mostly good times on the G4! :)

and perhaps it's time to do some major service for the bike.. not just replacing the wear and tear parts.. :)

hmm, where is this K & T leh?

major service as in what? overhaul? :giddy: :giddy:

apparently there seems to be a great demand for 2nd hand IU in the market recently and i have been to countless bike shops(including the whole of alexandra village) asking for a 2nd hand IU set. was told that it is almost impossible to find one.

P/S: i need one for my sch project, if anyone is able to find it, pls let me know

No more regrets.

oh ya i took a picture liao, see if u guys can help me see see. if u look close enough can see 1 drop of petrol at the place of leak.

i correct myself, she leaked when the needle is pointing down (ON i presume), doesn't leak when pointing to the left (PRI i presume again), flows rather fast when it's at reserve. :giddy: :giddy:

that is a nipple that allows petrol to flow out when carb overflow. u will notice when u rev, the leak stops, den when u stop revving, the leak continues like crazy.

this is an indication that ur carb float is spoilt. need to change.

No more regrets.

if it flows like guy peeing then cfm float is spoilt, otherwise i guess the float is dirty only, can be easily solve after some hard ramming while u r riding... tt works for me.

Anyway, if u r intending to ride long, plan the piority and spend somemore to retify the slowly. It's not hard to get 2nd hand G4 parts anyway. Unless the bike is really super chui(I dunno how to define the "chuiness", but I guess yours is not as bad) then I really nothing to say. Accessories can wait. U will get things up running good pretty soon. My G4 ain't smooth going when I juz bought, within 1 mth got towed 3 times and that's pretty suX. becoz:-

-CDI Kaput

-Worn Plug cap, water got it and plugs cannot worked

-Clutch cable spoilt

Anyway when I bought this bike, I set aside 500 for servicing as this is an old bike and that's the way how I got things done up. Somemore the carb dunno how many donkey years never service when i juz got the bike, I got a full milage for 180km per full tank, AND I MEAN petrol tank sucked until dried also run for 180km only. In the end got my carb serviced and till now I have no problems. Other than that juz regular oil change.

i not so sure abou the reving part but now it's leaking whenever i put to reserve and primary i think. so now i can't ride the bike to the workshop also? need to tow or not? go where change? K & T?

If i remember correctly,

the PRI indicates PRIME not primary :p

its for occasions when ur carbs are bone dry and you want to get some petrol in quick.

when the switch is at ON, the flow of petrol into the carbs is regulated by the vacumn hose while the engine is running.

in PRI, petrol will just flow into the carbs irregardless whether ur engine is running or not.

Disclaimer: i may be wrong, forgot all abt carbs and stuff after jumping over to FI bikes :D

Welll.... its logical that when you rev the leaking stops cos petrol is taken in mah.

To really check you need to take out the floats to see.

Turst me the float won't went out of place one, you will be convince if you take out and install the floats yourself. Infact on the G4 carb, there is a screw to secure the float in place, I also first time see.

The petrol leaking from the carb is due to dirt stuck at the needle valve, just need to open up the float bowl dismantle the whole float and clean out will do. $10 labour charge is cheap though cause need to take out the whole carb, and to do that alot of work involve.

Also the float on the G4 no need to change because the needle valve can be dismantle from the float assembly unlike the B4 which is one whole unit. Unless the float on the G4 is punture but then its not possible also because its made of very hard platic unless the mech sabotage.

I din realise the floats can be changed separately........ you mean they sell the needles separately as well?

Where can i get the needles? Changing the floats cost a bomb man.....

it could be worn/stuck float needle, float perch o-ring seal perished or leaking, or the float itself split and sinking. Or incorrect float height.

you are correct to quote me on that mate as it was me that wrote it!

but i think you have your screws mixed up!

there are 4 seperate mixture screws one on each carb body and one idle speed screw in the middle!

If you require pictures email me you have my mail address or get me on msn mate!:thumb:

Nope I didn;t mixed up the screws. The air/fuel or mixture screws, there are 4 of them, one under each carb near to the float bowl.

The idling screws is the middle threaded rod in the middle of the carb.

So 1.5 turns out aren;t you refering to the 4 air/fuel screw or mixture screws which some call it.

Factory Pro have the pictures of the mixture screws however I not able to find it now.

Dude, your carb still dripping?

No worries la, it won't cost 300+ to get it repair nor it will explode when u start the bike. The most juz service your carb and change the float which caused your carb to drip. KS selling each float for $35. Try bikeworkz at Kakit Bukit SHunli industrial estate and look for ah beng. Why it won't explode? Anyway The location where spark take place is at the spark plug ignition area. So juz ride your bike to the bike shop and get it fix before the whole petrol dripped until empty.

Yes you can buy the needle valve separately, think its abt $20 from KS. Advise is to remove and check the needle valve for wear, if its good, clean up and install back.

I have 3 spares needle valve from my ex gsxr750, most probably it can fit on G4.
