Can go K&T ask for removal of wire mesh inside ur header. Heard comment it smoothen out the air flow and response is better. Last time nearly wanted to do that, but going to sell off liao.

I was the one who said it. Well when I first bought the bike, the gear shifting was already very smooth.

But after I play with the air/fuel mixture screw somehow it deterioate, engine becomes rough and very difficult to shift gear and to neutral.

I tune it back to 2.75 turns out and did carb syn,, the bike is running fine again. Engine very smooth and gear shifting back to normal.

Your problem might not be the same as mine. Btw I'm refering to the air/fuel mixture screw and not the throttle stop screw (which is used to adjust the idling speed)

hello, thanks for the info...

few question though...

1)where is this air/fuel mixture screw which u are referring to? (and what abt the trottle stop screw?)

2) are these screws visible from the rider's point of view (like the screw for the odometer)? or must i open the fella up?

3) abt the carb syn, i assume must do it at the shop issit? coz frankly, i have no clue how to go about doing it.. :sorry:

4) abt the viscosity of the EO, for gsxr 400rr whats the recommended one?

thanks once again!

Qns 1:

The air/fuel mixture screw is underneath your carburator claose to the float bowl, there are 4 of it , 1 under each carb. Its cap by a brass seal if your carb is not temper before, meaning factory setting.

The throttle stop screw also called the idle screw is used to set your idling speed. Its located underneath your carb between carb 2 &3 (center of the carb).

Qns 2:

The air/fuel mixture screw you need to observe carefully then can see them, Not so obvious if you are not familiar with carb components.

The throttle stop screw is very obvious, you can see a big knob in between the carbs.

Qns 3:

For carb syn, you need to have a special gauge to do it. But if you are not confident and not sure how to do it, better leave it to the shop.

Qns 4:

The manual specifically states 10w40 or equivalant. But for old bikes, like G4, I would suggest to use a lower viscosity engine oil, e.g 15w50. You can ignore the first 2 digits and letter, just look out for the last 2 digits. 50 is lower viscosity (thicker oil flow slower) thus more protection to the engine.

oh n only hav that problem when engine cold.. if i off engine n 4-5hrs ltr start bike no problem.. if like whole day or overnite den hav to push start..zzz will appreciate any help or advise. ty! i still wanna go kulai wif u guys again. haha.

i think your batt is not good liao.. cannot retain the charge.. thus its totally discharged after whole day. so after 4-5 hours can but whole day cannot.. if you can crank after 4-5hrs and start the bike, but after whole day, the bike cannot even crank at all but can push start, then its ya batt no good... change batt...

sigh... my bike seems better now suddenly after one night was dragging it at gear 2 when the exhaust pipe went "poom poom poom pok pok" after closing throttle at high rev.

wat is crank btw? n abt how much is cost of new batt? engine seems to be sloppy n gear change not so smooth.. probably cuz engine oil.. mine is maxima semi syn.. i clocked 2400km since the change. piston shouldnt jam is i change oil around 2800km rite? still safe?

thanks guys..

For the poom poom pop sound...probebly is the carbon stucked inside ur exhast system flying out ba...

Crank = Electrical start

New yuasa for japan cost about $70 if i din remember wrongly. Well but there are cheap alternatives.

Try changing to fullsyn can try lor. I find fullsyn smoother den semi leh...thou some say semi is better...well i guess its personal preference ba...

The pistons will not seized if there is sufficient EO in the engine. But do check ur EO level weekly. Cos like mine recent case, my g4 gt a leak so have to top up often.

For old bike more than 8 to 10 years....i will recommend either mineral or semi-syn engine oil. As the bike is old, it will tend to leak/burn off engine oil or even other reasons.

But for mine won't....so i use my workshop fully-syn oil which is for motorcar.

It still up to you bro....
