woots, got my bike fixed. decided to one shot fix up everything, and now its running great again! thanks guys.

___

hey ben, my fc is around 20km/l. when i first got the bike from rain, i was doing 17km/l. i started using fp60, and after about a month or so, it went up to 20. (i do not sell fp60, no economic interest in the product) it had the same effect on my old car too.

oh, and my idling is around 3.5k rpm. beats me why my fuel consumption is not high.

___

hmm correct me if i'm wrong, but the voltmeter allows you to know if there's a problem with the battery, rectifier, and possibly the magnetic coil.

normal battery voltage while running should be around 13.7-14 (please confirm this with a pro)

when starting lower is ok, but after you start riding around it should go up to that voltage. if it doesnt, your batt might be gone. that's the first component to check.

if after changing or testing the batt you find that its not the problem, next to check is the rectifier.

if after testing that still not the problem, probably the magnetic coil then.

cheers all!

hey gravity, ya i know i was kinda shocked when i first saw the 3.5k, but now its like normal to me, haha.

downside is bike is damn loud even if i throttle lightly to move off, gets irritating after a while. and rpm is at 9k at just 100kmh.

i think fp60 works well with old vehicles, hope it works well for you. best part is, no need to keep putting. put for like 5-6 tanks should be enough, just to let it clean the internals.

yup got the problem fixed with a simple spark plug change, at 10 per plug. lucky i asked you guys for advice, before that i was moping about the crappy performance, wondering if its the carb or the pistons or ______.

you know la, old bikes when they give problems very worrying.

yeah..many things can happen to old bikes man..luckily its juz the spark plug problem..9k rpm for 100kmph...hmm..sekali its ur RPM meter spoil?..=X coz ur reading is like always 2k more than mine..haha..but not sure..maybe the previous owner modified the parts or something like that..have fun riding G4!!

actually i would think that its ur charging coil that is giving u the prob

Well thank God its not the charging coil, not the rectifier and also not the battery low. Damn those bike shops who told me my batt and rectifier got problem. The one who solved my problem was a mechanic from Lim Ah Boy

workshop at Kallang Ave. It seems my fuse box one of the input has melted. Need to look for it. Now kinda wary of bike shops. Can't trust them completely. BTW anyone have done rewiring of the whole bike? As in change every single wire and the wire harness in your bike to new ones? How much would it cost and which shop best to do it? Thought of going Guan Hoe since they are Suzuki agent.

fuse is a "common" problem, thats why need 2 carry spare fuses around...can keep inside small storage containers in ure box containers...1 fuse 50cents...change it also not so difficult, plug & play...

Well went to Planet Motor just now to change the fuse box. The boss(old man i forgot his name Ah Cheong or Ah Keong) charged very reasonable price however the problem lies with one of the wire socket from the wire harness. Damn the white color plastic thingy. The boss told me if want need to change the wire harness and do up the wiring. Quoted me $320! Guess need to go and find at scrap yards.

For G4 bros, if your bike not charging, die off and cant start, doesnt mean your battery low or rectifier and magnet coil spoil. Electronic products from suzuki last very long. Just that you need to see the fuse, fuse box and wiring socket got burnt or not. The fuses used must also be of the right resistance so that the wiring wont get burnt. Hope this piece of info helps for future problems u bros might (touch wood) encounter. Expensive lesson i learnt. Now Im stuck with my old rectifier which is still of good condition, a honda rectifier(one stupid shop conned me), and a slight hole in my pocket. Nevertherless the lesson learnt here is priceless. P.S good old boss from Planet Motor fixed my loose side stand for free! Next time must blanja him kopi.

Yo bro? seems like u have a bit of problem eh. never check with me 1st.. Coil And Rectifer and the black box behind the rear seat is about 1 yr old only when i hand over to u. so should not have problem. Plz do not go other shop to service our old bike.. they know nuts about it and will carrot u if they have a chance. Plz try to bring some spare fuse cause this bike's electrical parts a bit old liao, so fuse tend to burn easily. other than that, its a nice bike to ride. kinda miss the high reving power of a G4.. compare to my low torquey monster.

hey Alvis wassup seems u already got ur new ride swee ah haha oh yeah i still "owe" u kopi and makan ah...btw the fuse i change 3 times all burnt the problem lies in one of the socket of one of the wires from the wire harness. Good old boss from Planet Motor changed the burnt fuse box for me as mentioned above. Btw Im having so much fun with this ride but I cant seem to hit speed above 180..Most I hit max is 170 at N-S highway.Maybe coz that time u change the exhaust for me. Now just need some time to go find wire harness from scrap yard. Hey so when are all the new breeds and old birds of G4 riders gonna have a gathering? Maybe can join the gsxr 600 - 1000 cc riders for gathering :thumb:

Better you blanja him and his crew some ice cold crysanthenum tea. good for hot weather.
