whenever my bike is stationary at a traffic light junction, my rpm seems to be revving up and down, say from 1.25-2 back and forth. anyone encountered before? what seems to be the problem?

 

The last time that happened to me, i had to have my carb washed. And my throttle cable changed. Wear and tear on our G4 is catching up to us. If you intend to keep your bike longer than a yr and not upgrade to a class 2 bike. The maybe you would like to invest in getting your bike checked throughly and worn out parts replaced with brand new ones. You can find brand new parts that GH purchased but had in his store as there are hardly G4's coming in for servicing these days.

 

Think about it, how many G4's do you see on the road when you ride out? Compare that number to a S4 or a CBR4 and we G4's are still a rare breed.

 

Take good care of your G4 and change what needs to be changed. A piece of advice, DO NOT wash/tune your carb unless it's really necessary. The more you fix the more it'll need changing. It works like that for my bike. Maybe it's just me... Lol.

izzit like that ever since u got ur bike?...maybe u should check for minor leakage underneath ur tank...u might not be able to see it when the bike is hot as the petrol will evaporate quite quickly in that condition..so check the bike in the morning before u ride...or see if there's a very strong petrol smell ard ur bike...it could also be ur air filter being too dirty..G4 works kinda differently from a cbr400...the more u rev ur bike..the more fuel saving it is..but of coz..to a certain extent only..and very importantly..ur air filter muz not be obstructing the air intake..else ur fuel mixture will be too rich which will result in high fuel consumption..so i would suggest u to change ur air filter if u haven't changed it for a long time

hmmm... n i tot that mine at 220-230km for full tank is bad...

btw i just got my g4 so still monitoring...

 

mayb can try out the nanoballs? (the thing that can put into fuel tank and increases output and improves FC?)

 

Also i met up with gixxer01 today at tai hin and it was a great pleasure to have met him up and chat abt all kinds of stuff...

I've sent my g4 for servicing at planet and ah chong told me my magnetic coil fall out from its casing. my battery wasnt charging. Problem solved now. Luckily its not piston or anything bigger. phew! What you said is true, as long as its running well, do not touch anything. same principle as me. Btw, i read from other thread that you installed revtec? ? still using? any probs?

180km before reserve? wow..that's pretty low. Mine's around 260-270km and reserve can go up to 50-60km. Tested till 60km and just nice in front of petrol station:angel: then bike died. hehe...50km still safe for my bike. maybe yours could be a leakage somewhere...

previous owner told me its fuel jet changed but when i sent 4 svc, mech said its same... air filter GH chk when i svc spark plug, said no need to change...

went to tai hin bike shop at kallang ave the mechanic say no problem...

ride again no problem then at night when sending my girl home bike die again!!

gixxer01 told me that he booked an appointment for me at Guan Hoe on monday morning but i have not been able to contact him since yesterday evening...

Yup. Esso 8000. I have been feeding in esso 8000 before i serviced my bike. The mileage can go very far. After servicing, I'm beginning to pump petrol at esso JB and shell JB to gauge how far can the mileage go. Before servicing, I also fed this 'STP complete' additive into my fuel tank. Feedback, well, smooth riding. Could be after servicing, perhaps.

I encountered the same problem before. Could be either your magnetic coil, rectifier or battery. If you cant crank your bike, most probably any of the items mentioned needs replacement. Planet is the best place for second hand. Cheap!

Gixxer01, how's the feedback on your revtec? I'm thinking of installing on my bike if feedback is good. I think it is also good to install a voltmeter to monitor our battery cos sometimes we might not know when our batter is not charging. Btw, anyone knows the mechanism between battery, rectifier and magnetic coil? How are they linked? Which is which to charge and so on..kinda confused. ha.
