Hi guys.

 

I just got my r15 a month ago so I'm pretty new to bikes. Would like to get the opinion of more experience riders here. For the version 2 model, what is the biggest battlax tyres can we fit in the bike? I know FCC will be higher and slower acceleration with fatter tyres, but would prefer the stability.

 

Also, apart from bridge stone battlax, any other tyre models that we can consider?

Hi all, my r15 v1 suddenly got the engine check light on. I was driving casually in city and going for 110 in highway and it suddenly light up. Any idea what's going on? >_

The code is ( X___X___X___X___XX )

 

Edit: Found the problem. Code 42, Speed sensor / Neutral switch.. Yesterday the speed indicator suddenly not working, but today is fine. Is there any way to reset the engine check light easily?

Edit again: It suddenly gone after I leave it overnight. Weird and good things

You might want to check in on your spark plug.

Very high chance that it wet sour there since it had been raining and whats not..

else.. Your wiring might have gone wrong somewhere thus having a discharge somewhere. Our bike doesn't exactly specify what problem but need a couple more symptom to diagnose. So.. Good luck!

There is no clear distinct answer to your question actually. At fully stock, it was claimed that it could achieve well over 140km/hr. A trip up north to Desaru on the stretch of about 20KM led a couple of the us to figure that it is somewhat between 115 to 125km/h. And of course, 1 of it had pillion.

Looking at your signature.. I figured you're someone who like to make speed a priority. To me that doesn't worth the 8K you're about to spend excluding insurance and interest.

 

Just to add a note. Your "FC" and "cost" in contrast to "speed". How do you made your Bajaj being probably "fastest pulsar in SG"?

So does that means that (considering on a normal stream) all your expenses on the racing parts, trips to M'sia/ importing and all the upgrades that you're gonna get and modification cost.. why not justify that into say.. R1? That comes with all that things that can make your wish come true in less than 3second and one good twist on the throttle?

I find the constant battle for "FC", "cost" and "speed" will always be there. You have to sacrifice man

- fairings n tank etc all in good shape

 

ii) Black - 2010 Feb - iMotoring (Bukit Merah) - $4,600

- fairings n tank etc not in good shape

- the sales guy told me send for spraying $380 for tank n fairings, additional $60 per rim = $500 in total. (8-10 days' work)

 

Any advice peeps?

First of all.. WELCOME TO THE R15 CLUB!

And maybe riding be ever pleasure for you.

 

First thing first. You might like to look into the rating of the bike tiam from the same post here.. I guess it's under "why pay more" thread and understand more. Cause figuratively speaking, one of the bike tiam here is a ripper.

Now now..

 

No verdict as to be able to give here since there are many various element in a 2nd hand product.

From the outlook, even the most professional cannot tell what is of value.

Consider this as a guideline (if you really cannot find a good bro who know a thing or 2 to go down with you)

 

- The mileage is something. But not everything.

Some people can tell me that if the bike is used for dispatch, it would not be of any better value. Truth and false. One of the best ride I ever have ridden was Domino Pizza's YBR and Madass. It's "abuse" to the extend that it works wonders sometime. Strange thing though.. Have a chat with the previous owner if possible and judge from there.

 

- Pricing.

Price is a major factor and what ever is tag to it doesn't necessary reflect true value. How are you going to justify.. say.. This case

Bike A is of fully equip nature @ 8K and bike B is full stock @ 5K. The difference is 3K.. If you asked me, 3K is hell lots of a difference.

Anticipating you're a speed junkie, of course you will look into the 8K since it's already fully "tuned" if I might use the car jargon and accustom to race. No doubt! And everything you might want to put into it might seems to cost that much either.. So why not right?!

But! Did you know that sometime when you use "racing" parts and especially of those dubious kind from somewhere/ nowhere.. You might land yourself into a time bomb? Naturally R15 is a very hardy bike.. So do not get headache from a X years old bike to another. Age doesn't play much here since it's only a couple of months or even 1 year max.

 

- "the sales man said"

They can say! I can offer you my 11' edition Raven R15 V1 with quite some equipment and can shoot up to 138km/h for 6K. Want?

To top it up.. oil change for you, service for you, clean, align, adjust, free servicing, ride 3 months and if something wrong I check for you. Sounds good? Of course!

BUT! What if in my heart I'm actually implying...

Change oil? SURE! ABC brand oil @ $8... service? I change one screw also service ma.. align? I align the seat and make it look fatter can? Maybe I help you pump more air into the tires to "align" the height of the bike? Free servicing.. 3 months thing.. gimmicks. I can even say only and when you get your bike.. there is nothing.

Get the salespeople to write in black and white and specify WHAT is given, WHERE to do, WHEN to get, HOW much to pay and all.. Even all these also not enough. Seriously.

Take picture of the "before" of the bike and claim it to your "after" when you see it. There will definitely be things the shop do and didn't. Have a good bro to see for you too.

 

That is as much I can help you over the cyberspace. Bottomline is.. there are no good shops around. You either need to pay "schoolfee" and bleed and bleed..

or

pay "schoolfee" and then slowly they view you as regular and give you good offers.

 

- wear and tear

Bound to have, must have. If don't have, ask how come don't have! High possibility that it suffered some clash.. error.. fault.. something!

Parts that are external will be fairing, lamps, engine casing, foot pegs, throttle, yolk, handle bar... those that you can see!

Internal will be of those you really need to ride.

Stiff or firm brakes? Spongy? Response? Sounds retarded? Leaking (should not have at all!).. parts change? Exhaust? Air filter? Sprocket? chain?

This is something you really need to have a pro rider with you. Cause you can never really tell the difference.

Basic will be rideability.. You feel smooth and good, everything shouldnt be a problem.

Helmet.

Ah boy is selling OGK helmet FF at a good rate. You can check it out for some 200over.

Beon helmet? Forget it... A good helmet posses as such

- limited noise cancelling

- air channeling

- comfort (sweat management, rigidity of the sponge)

- aerodynamic (if you're tracking or touring)

- practicability (light?? Heavy?? Technology?)

 

"Designs" must be the last to consider.. That is my take.

I'd say if you don't have atleast 500 good bucks, you'll never get a good FF helmet with designs.

maybe you can try 2nd hand helmet. I've gotten mine at a steal and it's practically new with the scent of fresh product and shiny glossy surface.

But then it's hard to find.
