Hey guys, anyone want to go riding with me? R15 V2. I desperately need to compare with someone else the bike performance. Because my bike is having issues with vibrations above 5krpm at any gear. I am forced to ride at 70kmph on 6th gear to be slight smooth. Once i go expressway i need to be 90kmph at 7-8k rpm and the whole bike just vibrates. It so damn irritating. Brought it to Yamaha Service Centre and the guys say no issue just keep riding. (Think they want it to spoil then earn more money).

Maybe we can organize an outing or something. I really need some R15 V2 brothers to help out because i'm really not enjoying the bike since this issue occurred.

PS: When i got the bike, there was no issue. After months of riding it just came out of nowhere. PM me or whatsapp/call me 86129101.

Much appreciate if any help can be provided.

hi, im riding a v1. I too felt vibration at above 6krpm. I am thinking maybe the chain contributes. Also i read somewhere that the piston rubbing in its cylinder may cause the vibration. Adding a little 2t in fuel tank may help to smoothen the action of the piston. Maybe you read up on this for more info.

don't add 2t into a 4stroke bike!!!

Yes understood. 4 stroke engine usually dont use 2t. However just a very minute amount is enough if we want to lubricate the piston and cylinder. I have asked around. There are people who does this because 2t is a cheaper alternative. Otherwise fuel additives like stp is the usual kind to use. Only abit more ex.

Guys while riding ytd at the fuel meter it shows 1 bar and shortly blinking with F-- meaning reserve fuel is being used now. When i finish pumping petrol the meter only shows that i pumped 8.6L of petrol. I have read online that v1 tank size is 12L and minus of 1.2L for reserve petrol. so i should have about 10.8L? But i pump 8.6 full already.

Probably because it's on side stand. In order to pump really full, needa put bike upright but there's no need for that~

Hey there, vibrations and feedback r quite normal. u may wanna try changing your balancers and check the slack of your chain. has your bike been break in? i used to ride a V1, 6th 7k rpm and im at 105km/h easily

Fast is slow. Slow is smooth, smooth is fast. SLOW is FAST.

Hi everyone, I am really desperate. Brought my R15 V2 to U____ M_____ Kaki Bukit to overhaul full. Spent a whopping $1.4k. Thereafter one day of riding this sound has occured and bike is not smooth. It has tingly slight vibrations, very irritating. The mechanics tell me its normal and just run it in. They just keep emphasizing its normal, the sound normal. I have recorded a video and posted on youtube. Link below. Please i am out of cash, out of options. If there is anyone out there that can help me please do.

Hi bro, that squeky sound might comes from

1) Air box : Ensure that you are using an original air box and all tubes linkage are sealed and proper. No air leakages.

2) Do add oil treatment to your current engine oil so that those sounds if it comes from within are dampen.

3) Do check for other visible and conspicuous loose parts.

Other than that, if the bike is running well and no further issues then u dont have to worry so much. Its a fact that overhaul bikes might not sound the same as factory settings however it does not meant that they are unsafe or having issues. Just ride safely and observe any issues. If the sound gets louder or more vibrations, then do bring back to your workshop and let them know. If u still wish to keep the bike and unsure of where to go, do go back to the YAMAHA AGENT. They will replace all parts and get back to factory settings.

When riding, does it sound grainy / sandy when engaged in the lower gears?

There shouldnt be such sounds. Do check for other parts too that might cause the sound and usually its the disc plates rubbing the brake pads

Hi all, anyone knows where can I bought handphone mount for our R15? Went to ahboy they sell only the ring mount which I believed there's no space for us to put?

Juzzwheels at Alexander

Thanks!!

Also, I noticed the different kinds of numbers on engine oil bottles, 10w40, 20w40, which is better ? And how to tell.

I read some articles and don't really understand

10w-40 or 20w-40 both can be use on our R15. 10W refers to the temperature which it performs. Say the lower the number, means even in cold weathers, it can start up easily. The second digits 40 means the viscosity of the oil flow during operation. The lower the number the better the flow and if bigger, the slower and thicker. Recommended for R15 is 20w-40 according to manufacturer.

Anyone know what is this?

Mine doesn't seem to be tighthttp://img.tapatalk.com/d/14/07/14/ebymyby8.jpg

Thats a brake sensor cable. When u brake, it activates the brake signals.

Hi bro, engines should be running smoothly with minimal engine noise and consistent rhythm. If you have a sudden loud noise than usual, do check for any abnormalities and excessive vibrations ; especially engine casing and tank area too. Such excessive noise can be due to many internal issues such a worn out clutch plates, conrod components and even piston block itself. At times, its non of the mentioned above but due to loose screws or parts. Do have a through visual check. Another method, which u can also check if the main issues comes from internal is to on the engine, put neutral and let it idle and listen to the engine sound. Then clutch in ONLY and listen to the engine sound. Are there any difference before clutching in and clutching in? If there is a difference in sound, then your internal parts may have some issues.

Hi bro, may I correct some of the above mentioned statements. Piston and block cylinders must rub and there will be vibrations. Having a consistent and early engine oil change will prevent many mechanical parts issues. As this bike a 4 stroke bike, the engine oil itself is pump into the piston and cylinder areas to lubricate it while its moving hence there is no need to input 2T oil. 2T oil is used in 2 stroke bikes to lubricate the piston in their 2 stroke system as their engine oil does not lubricate pistons thus they rely on 2T oil which is injected with a certain amount to the fuel. If u do practice pouring 2T into V1 or R15 bikes, your warranty will be void. Your tiny injectors will clog due to the residues of 2T oil and it will not dampen any vibrations nor it will assist the bike in any ways.

Most of us have the habits of late or delay engine oil change. Engine oil change must be done at 1500km intervals so as to maintain the grade of the engine oil. Surely, 1 liter of engine oil inside your crankcase under heat and stress, will degrade the oil itself and to prolong using it above 1500km will do more harm than protect your internal parts. The oil no longer lubricates but "assist" to wear off the components. This is where, all those knocking sounds and vibration happens.

Lastly, do know that 4T bikes, their engine oil of only 1 liter will have to lubricate the gears, pinions, clutches plate, piston, cylinder and other internal moving parts and if its contaminated with other non purposed oil or delayed in change, the lubrication properties will degrade rapidly.
