you are really very helpful thanks, going overseas in impossible i still ahve to study... what more my bro going overseas study too so cant afford to go overseas too. Probably i'll get a rs 125 and lay it up, but overall for a 17 YO it's too ex..

 

well.. motorsports are expensive.. think of the tires and engine oil u will need to change.. we'll not talk about repair fees if there's crash first(touch wood)

motogp rider from Singapore?? Its hard, very hard. Even if you have the talent, doesnt mean you can end up in motogp, you need a lot of luck.

 

But if Troy Baylis can be WSBK legend when he started road racing at age 23, it means its not impossible. Although the racing climate in Australia gives more opportunities.

Saying you want to do it is one thing... doing something about it is another.

 

There is a 14 year old racing at the Tuas track in the Novice 4 stroke Open class.

 

He is doing something about his passion.

This comment is not directed at you, but meant generally:

 

This is the problem with the mindset we have - everyone wants to ride the best bike and throw money at it to have the fastest bike.

 

In the end, we get scared of crashing it because we know how painfully expensive it is.

 

That makes us slow.

 

In turn, we blame the bike and buy more stuff to throw at it... dont believe me? Look at MSS, all the top bikes are money pits and rules there are so slack that no one can stop it.

 

Hopefully, the rules get tightened up... then maybe I'll come back to the MSS.

 

There are some participants that know of this problem but are powerless to do anything about it, so they have no choice but to join the scam and devote their entire financial incomes to it, only to become "has-beens" as they will always lack that "little something".

 

How many HRC bikes are there on the grid?

 

What that teaches us is to spend money to get faster when the true skills that make a world class racer is being able to ride anything fast. The only way you are going to learn that is to learn how to compensate with skill, not money; which means riding what you have, even if it is piece of oil leaking junk.

 

Lots of people make fun of my choice of current machine - KTM RC8, saying that the Ducati 1098s/Aprilia RSV4... etc is a better bike and that the KTM is flawed in many ways.

 

I say: "Whatever! It was cheap and that's good enough for me!"

 

I dont need to be the fastest guy all the time and love figuring out how to ride it to get the best out of it without changing a thing.

 

All that it has is an exhaust, not even tuning; and tonnes of my sweat.

 

Same was said about the SuperDuke, especially when I brought the thing to Sepang... but I bet it suprised alot of people... even if it was just a "streetbike"...

 

I want to RIDE and spend all my money on tires, not mods and mechanics so I can ride and ride and ride and ride.....

 

Any idiot can go fast on a fast bike, but only a STAR can make a slow bike fast.

 

And if anyone wants to be recognized enough to be shown the right doors that lead to a big time career in racing - he would undoubtedly have to be a STAR; not that idiot on a fast bike.

 

I've seen enough to know better.

Bro i think u ask rossi,lorenzo,stoner to have a friendly match n ask them to put in 101% effort in sepang. And from there every laps u cut them or behind e 1st position, then mayb fiat team or ducati marlboro team want u to be their 3rd rider, if let say u manage to get in let me knw as my son is turning 1yrs old n i will start to train him on 3yrs old, by the time of 15yrs old his skill will be recognise by GP team..... Then singapore will have a offical GP rider

Now you know why I gave up the CBR1000RR and superbikes and started racing supermotards and now, kupcais.

 

For the price of a big bike Ohlins suspension, DOT tyres and race fairings...a Y125Z can be souped of with all the ultimate goodies that can be bought to make the bike super fast.

I cannot imagine seizing the engine on a superbike... but hell, I have ridden the Y125Z maxed out till the engine seized 4 times to date - cost of repair was a new block and piston.

We figured just that some time ago mate, but you're welcome back into the scene anytime you like, there will always be a big orange V-twin ready for you to go for a spin on... can't promise any red Desmos though...

 

You did loads while on the 1000 and that reserves you a lifetime membership in my book.

 

Well, it looks so far like you've taken on the challenge of improving the standards of the local scene, while the Rev Club is trying to improve things on the other side of the fence, catering to Sepang go-ers...

 

Both are important and significant segments of the motorcycle fraternity and together, I think we'll do a good job to raise awareness and do things right.

 

If I could comment, I think the local supermoto/kupcai scene should put alot more emphasis on scrutineering and restricting modifications. This is already in the pipeline for MSS next year (from what I have heard) to lower the cost of racing, opening up to more people and giving opportunities to riders who may not have had the means to participate.

 

In my opinion, there should be more limelight shown on the "stock" races, more recognition. Right now, the ugly truth is that it is looked at as a "loser's" cup and most everyone wants to pass over that asap, straight into the big name races where most will struggle with budget and fade away, not because of lack of skill or potential...

 

Oh look, we have lost another person in our industry - this attrition is killing the racing scene. Look around and it's always the same people... we need fresh blood.

 

For the sport to survive, it needs big participation and whatever we can do to grow those numbers to support the economy of the sport's industry, the more properous it will be. If the high cost of entry (because of the investment) is turning people away, then that is the barrier that we should lower.

 

It's happening all around us in every motorsport - cost cutting and the main culprit is modifications.

 

No offence but $50 here and $100 there for parts every now and then may already be too much for some.

The tricky part is that just making a rule is not enough, cheating is strife and it is the quality of scrutineering that will keep everyone's nose clean and make racing truly fair.

 

We need to take the cue from the more developed series - all over the world, the breeding grounds for future stars involve "one make" or almost stock standard championships - not "run what ya brung" rules.

 

This is where our future star is going to come from.

 

It's plain to see that our efforts have already sparked some positive revolution in the way things are done and it can only get better, as long as we stick to the morals that are making it successful right now and be firm with what we want; leading by example.

 

Goes to show that we dont need to have a big title in some organization to make a difference...

 

That's all political bullshit.

get to know some of this people, dr dol#46, ozzy#69 amy#54 & cluadio#12, amba & alvin from bike lab, this people have been racing in mss for a few season now, and all are more then willing to show you the ropes of racing! if u want to ride yamaha then look for amba&alvin frm bike lab, and if ur lookin for honda ( by the way is the best 600) look for dr dol and the rest including me frm TEAM LOOI"S MOTOR!
