Last month Sep, I when over to Cycle and carriage to view Mitsubishi cars. Notice Lancer EX is very nice. So i decided to Pay a 2K booking fee and buy it. The sales consultant say will Bid for me the COE. One week later she come back told me say COE is successful of 18K. The problem here is i wanted to back out of purchase because something happen both to my job & my family. So i call up the sales consultant, To cancel my deal wanted to have my 2K back . Guess what , She say the COE is bid under my name , cannot be "suka suka" cancel. She also mention if i'll to back out things will be very ugly. C&C would want me to pay back the COE which is 18K!!! To be seriously with u all bros here, I might be losing my job, How am i going to buy the car and suffer. And my family member is sick now. The sales consultant ask me if i dont want it. I must appeal to LTA. Things are getting bad now . Please help....

 

One of my working friend told me, No such things as Buy the COE back. The most they can just let others have it.. And just makan my 2K . is this true..? please advice me bros...

maybe you can try legal help? read up the terms and conditions of the contract and see if there's such a penalty

I always believe if you cannot afford it, then don't buy it. Why in the first place you even stepped into C&C when there was an impending job loss and a sick family member? To be honest, please don't be offended, if you are facing financial difficulties, it is not their problem and they don't have to suffer for you. The world does not revolve around you only.

 

It is very irresponsible to back out of the deal after you decided to commit into it. How will the Sales representative feel and what kind of messages were you sending to the sales representative by backing out of the deal as and when you like. C&C also need some assurance. If every customer were to bear 50% of chances backing out of the deal, then C&C will be in some very deep trouble. But practically, C&C can simply forfeit your deposit and give the COE to another person out of goodwill. I doubt they will have any problems securing another person for that COE. But you are doing them great injustice with your sudden withdrawal. Also, if the COE is registered under your name, it will mean extra trouble.

 

I guess in my honest opinion, I can say, just their luck to bump into you.

These are things which we all do not hope to happen.

However, these are things we must all be prepared for when it happens.

 

The best thing that can come out of this is that you learn a valuable lesson.

Sorry to hear about your difficult situation, but once you agree to the contract it is very difficult to back out, otherwise how will the world do business? Why don't you try to sell it asap? You will no doubt have to write off a few thousand, but if you can find a buyer for the car before delivery you can minimise the loss.

Well bros, I just want to talk from the viewpoint of the sales person. So we can see the dual sides of the coin.

I hope the threadstarter can resolve this issue in the most amicable way. But based on the situation, I can tell that there is a very potential ugly struggle coming from this matter.

It's really sad to be caught unaware by circumstances. I remember when I suddenly totally caught unaware lost my job while on the way to my first car. Fortunately I managed to get myself a job and thankfully, was paid much more than my previous job.

Sorry to hear of your plight bro but I don't think you need to pay the 18k. Talk to the manager. However most probably the booking fee of 2k is non-refundable as stated in the contract that you sign. Since C&C have already bidded the COE they will keep the COE to roll over to another car or for another potential customer. This is what my SE explained to me (my car also from C&C) so just verify with the manager or something.

Many SEs would force you to pay excessively which you don't have to by telling tales. Do check out on that. One SE did tell my mum when buying a vehicle in Ubi *hint* not the Lancer Ex *hint* that she has to pay 20% downpayment and she won't need a guarantor, its a lie.

 

Good luck dude, hope you can clear the COE problem and hopefully retain your 2k deposit.. Btw, I don't like the Lancer Ex after driving it for so many times. Only the Manual is worth considering if you know what I mean

I think at most you'll lose the 2K.

 

But if you'd pre-signed the car loan application form then be prepared, for there's more to come.

 

If you are genuinely in such unfortunate state talk to the Manager, then upwards to their management, they do have provisions (somewhat) for such cases if you are able to prove your unexpected situation. Sales rep make money from sales, so naturally they'll safeguard their commisions by cautioning you against backing out.

 

Be calm, and just note that you are unlikely to walk away from these without incurring some $$ loss.

I second that, call Pro Bono legal services, its free, Tel: 6536 0650. Thats two counselling centre, one at Woodlands CDC, the other at Paya Lebar CDC. Your time is limited to only 20mins, so prepare all your questions and documents for the volunteer lawyer to go through.

 

For your 18k COE, its a steal to sell to whoever needs it to buy car, because its going up now. Should be able to get out of this one with minimal loss.
