well sadly speaking for 04 models onwards ( underseat exhaust its quite hot and it was designed this hot in order for R1 to be hot  )

but there are a few things u can do to lower the temperature or minimize the heat

1) change the y-pipe

2) use those better coolant like engine ice etc

3) use exhaust heat wrap to wrap from the mid pipe till the underseat y-pipe but comestic wise may not be so good-looking

What say u

Thanks lo-on for the advice.

The temperature went so high as you said is designed to be hot:)

I tried using the better coolant like you suggest, but when it go overheat and coolant overflow, it is so wasted. Changing the Y-pipe help? i tot the heat is from the engine block area near radiator?

Uhmm I guess ya coolant level might be low...buy a coolant... DIY flush out old coolant and top up and try... Usually e fan kicks in at 106degrees...better get it checked before e air pressure builds up and blows up e radiator hose... My friends blackbird got kena before.. And it's nasty to have hot coolant splashing on e bike and e rider... Cheers :D

Oic o_O

Coe suddenly shot up to $1800+ recently :faint::faint::faint:

Hope it wont b tat expensive when it comes to b my turn...

oh u need to take 3 months and average out the COE ...

example if your COE expires on may this year, u need to sum up the COE from feb till april, then divide by 3 and that will be your renewal price .... LTA will also send u a letter, informing the price of your renewal

What say u

engine can get pretty hot in sg weather.. the top end is abit short on power.. the sound of the downshift sounds like a twin.. apart from that, the rearsets are crappy, change to an aftermarket one... dont try to pillion anyone cause the plastics wont help to shield any heat away...

Its the linear torque curve that doesn't make you 'feel' the pull toward the top end like the 08 and predecessors because thats where all the power is.

Positive in terms of track performance, of course. Positive in terms of streetability - who fully utilises a literbike and all 180+ horsepower of it on the street?

The power variances between each of the many literbikes, Kawa, Gixxer, CBR1kRR, BMW S1KR, Aprilia RSV4, KTM RC8 and duke 1198 really arent enough for one to choose one over another unless they're pro tracking, because useable power and available power are two very different things.

BMWS1000R or the 2011 Kawa ZX-10R = Immediate bragging rights for available peak horsepower. But, try and use all of it on the street, and you're most likely gonna end up dead.

I think that's why the decision on getting any bike at all is a holistic one, and minor differences and advantages really don't have much of a lead in winning an argument on what bike to choose.

I say, go for the bike that makes you drool, dream about, have that warm feeling inside and that makes you feel that you couldn't have done any better. (except maybe owning a 1198R or desmosidici or a MV )

Just my 2 cents! :):) :thumb::thumb:

Class 2B = 24/04/2008

Class 2A = 22/12/2009
