what about getting the exhaust slip ons from there?

i've been trying on carpe-tdm, ebay uk, ebay fr and what-so-evr..

and almost bought beowulf endcans which will cost about 500 S$ + shipping 200 S$.

emailed LTA, called and spoke to officer and they demanded some manufacturer's documents.. which is unheard of in UK and such.

LTA says they need:

1. Exhaust serial no,and certified for TDM certification.

2. Exhaust test results with specific O2 and noise level and such.

I tried to email beowulf dealer but no reply :(

well.. uniquely singapore :(

now drooling over these..

What LTA asks for is quite reasonable as their concern is with noise and air pollution. I'm sure the manufacturer would have such certification. probably just that beowulf has not dealt with singapore before.

other countries also have street legal classification, so these legal cans would meet certain criteria.

Ansley's workshop don't have a laser cutter leh.. but I reckon if u wanna make that out of stainless or something.. It shouldn't cost u too much.. Less than 50 at the laser cutters...

Posted

Firstly, the endcans must have engraved or pop riveted serial numbers on em. Why? So that LTA can trace the exhaust to yer bike.

Secondly, the documents must indicate the following:

i) engineering drawing

ii) Official decibel rating being tested at the same RPM our bikes were tested. ( cannot really remember but I think it's 3000rpm, 78db or something, its on the sticker on our chassis)

iii) the exhaust should have a baffler, removable or non removal is alright.

Thirdly, u gotta go thru 2 inspections: one at LTA and one at Vicom.

Hope this helps..

it'll be perfect coupled with nice sounding cans!

Actually I thinking of changing to the Vara one. Round round a bit.

Okok, its side-rear mirrors, if u change, sell me urs lah. I dont ride TDM, riding Diversion, but TDM's can fit mine.

speaking of FC.. i find it TDM needs to rev more in order to get good fuel consumption.

when i need to go work early (no ERP on CTE) i can got 100+ and average fuel consumption is about 20+ km/l (350km before reserve, which is 17 liter)

when i am working office hour and take small lanes (avoid ERP on CTE) with stop/start traffic, fuel consumption is bad, about 18~19km/l (320 before reserver)

no wonder Thom@s, TakeHow, Ansley, Encik Pat and those rev-sters got good FC on TDM...

So low? Get it checked. I normally get about 20-21km/l if I stay under 4k rpm. That's city riding. If trunk road constant 80 - 100-120km/h around. rpm around 3.5k then I can get 24-25km/h. Once rpm past 5k. All the holes open at it drops to 14-17km/h.

Ahh...no wonder. It's 16.5L then open reserve la not 17L. Reserve is 3.5L. Heee.

Here's a guide I came up with. We have 6 fuel meters right? Here's what is it from my calculations. So far it seems right.

1st meter - 4L

2nd meter - 3L = 7L

3rd meter - 3L = 10L = half tank.

4th meter - 3L = 13L

5th meter - 3.5L = 16.5L

6th meter - 3.5L = 20L

If you're down to your last meter it doesn't mean reserve yet. Once it blinks and switches to 'F' meter then it's reserve.

Hope it serves as a good guide.
