i notice the bike has CF sticker on the H&B skip plate, stock heel plate & exahust guard ?

Skid Plate - Matt Black Sticker (i'm thinking of spraying it black instead, shld be $50 at replica, or $10 diy)

Heel plate - CF

Exhaust guar - CF + Matte Black (CF not sticking well at the joint, will go back to juzzwheels to fix it/repaste, otherwise, spray also)

Stickers are around 150 including some wordings here and there. Honestly, I'm starting to regret it, I should have just spray painted the exhaust guard and the skid plate.

Anyone want to spray paint it? See whether we can get it cheaper by going to the same shop. I usually go to replica for small paint jobs. Turnover is less than 1 week.

you had the GiVi rear rack bracket?

Side box and topbox gonna be touratech eventually. This topbox is from my storeroom, and I mount it onto the original yamaha rack using the standard baseplate that comes with the box. Not very difficult, can do so using those brackets and bolts that come with the box, +2 "W" bracket.

If you want mega box, u can either get maxia 55L, I believe I can mount the baseplate on it too. Otherwise, you can consider the Hepco Journey TC52.

I used to have that box b4, can easily put in 2 full face, and still have room to put 2x thick rain coat on top of it. With this, you don't even need to swap your baseplate.

There is 2 type of S10 design color scheme in this world.

Euro spec - UK/SGP - blue S10 (blue tank/silver side fairing + seat)

USA spec - USA(NOV2011 delivery) - blue S10 (blue tank/black fairing + seat)

I like the bling factor of my S10.so most items will be in natural color, dun feel like doing much to it like sticker wrap/respray a good item)

So I have to siamz from the 2 Offer....keke

As for givi side case,I will trial out the H&B 40L side case 1st.if the bike feels ok then I may consider upsize even more for longer trips.

I like my clothing crisp dry....iron prefer.haha

I agree ur bike color scheme is working well, but seems like most of e accessories r designed for e blue instead of black. :(

Maybe I can consider powdercoat too.. ^^

Let me check e price first

Posted (edited)

go for powdercoating.. it'll last much longer than spraying.. but must clean your parts first before sending them in..

as long as it's metal, can powdercoat..

exhaust guard is plastic or metal?

--------------------------------------------

The details you requested..

Deed Co Technologies,

65 Defu Lane 12 (S)539149

powdercoating process takes abt 3-4days..

it's very cheap compared to spraying!!

that time i PC-ed my swingarm, triple clamps with a couple of other stuffs..

paid the bangla $50 + $10 tips for all the items..

just rem to clean all your parts properly before sending them in..

and remind him to seal up all the holes for screws and joints..

he did many powdercoating for bikes before but still good to inform him..

there are other shops in AMK and BB.. but not all do small parts for bikes..

can always google and call them up to ask..

Woah. That's very good deal. Btw, the exhaust guard is plastic..

Thanks dude.

Plastic then just spray or stickers..

IMO, one time spray and powdercoat..

for DIY spraying, preparation is very important..

sand from rough to smooth..

then spray many thin layers..

if you need me to help.. let me know..

just buy your sandpaper and spray, i do for you FOC..

just let me caress your S10!!!

haha. thanks man. For spraying, if matt black, dont need alot of layers. Matt black particles are bigger, easier to spray.

Currently, I'm just gonna pc the skid plate. For the exhaust cover, I think I might leave it silver. Originally wanted it black, cos my panniers rack is gonna be silver. So, I figured, the cover will look better in black. But my wife just suggested me to powdercoat my rack instead, and I think it's a better idea. I will leave the cover in it's originally color.. Honestly, I rather spray paint accessories, then original parts. ^^

Anyway, u wanna caress my s10? Can, any time will do, just let me know.

Since your S10 is Black, why not consider Black H&B xplorer side case & TC ? the down side is black bike + black case = road user awareness index not high .

i like Zega Pro case, it is soild build, both lock is excellent strong,no plastic parts and looks promising for OFF-road use(subject to S10 ability & riders too).

Down side is no proper backrest for TC, small TC 38L that can fit only 1 FF & no 2 open-face(69 style) and cover can be open both way means no smooth opening & each case need 4 lock, full system need 5 locks ! and lastly the cost....it aint the most easy on wallet yet subject to the weather element.38L side case cant even fit a helmet.

TRAX case are fairly on par in pricing with Xplorer. good EVO side rack which does not require any mod to mount on S10.Alu case and Big brucket style lock.not as well design like Zega Pro but functional with golves on.

however the expose metal loop for locking is thief-iniviting(metal cutter) for both case lock loop & rack lock loop.however TRAX EVO case has improve the loop and now is similar to Xplorer offering.

Xplorer system are similar to TRAX EVO, above mention 3 brand all comes in alu or Black while ZEGA PRO has andor-silver/back as well. Like the TRAX EVO, Xplorer has more plastic base and less Alu which makes it ligther and the hard rubber edge are better in resist road scratchs then bare alu.TC45L can fit 1 FF or 2 OF helmet, 40L can fit 1 FF but the 30L side case is cramp...not even a well-built Laptop hardcase bag can fit int(unless the laptop bag is cheap and can destory type)

lastly H&B has improve the 2011 Xplorer with less plastic latch catch but thicker. hopefully it does not face the same issue like the older ones.

GiVi Trekker TRK46N (use as side or TC) and TRk33N use as side.Givi latest box design offering for the DS model is nice. it has the relaible Givi plastic base and function with a Alu finish on the outer shell yet still protect with rubber strip. clever dual opening style make it practical to choose between open full or just a tab for picking small items within the box.46L TC can fit 2 open-F helmet while 33L case can fit 1 open-F hemlet only.

been new to the Dual-sport scene means so far the more "adv" looking box are the Trekker 46L or 33L. not sure if two side 33L & a 46L TC combo will work for a two up touring anot(i know it possible but i meant carring capacity wise) and a 46L side & TC 46L will be be too fat for the road.

so there it is...a customer selection critical on avail side case for local S10 owner.

my personal pick....H&B Xplorer....acceptable cost for me within the shortlisted...and more stylish(personal perference). :thumb:

of course it does not means other case box system out there is not good but it just not very availabilty in term of sale & support.

*usual disclaimer - i dont work for any importer or shop. just another customer.:cheeky:

good personal review bro..

there is some update though..

I believe what u're talking about is the older version of the TRAX case. The newer one has a better locking device than the older version.

The older TRAX

The newer TRAX EVO

http://www.produkt-suchmaschine.com/images/products/29_/trax-evo-alutopbox-motorradzubehoer-von-louisde-id2328924.jpg

The older TRAX case has a metal loop for locking the lid and the case to the rack. it does look flimsy and easily cut by a metal cutter. However, the TRAX EVO is different. The locking device is a metal clasp type, just like HBs. It makes the job of cutting harder than the previous version. So I think that there's some improvement in that matter.

common reviews of trax luggages are that they let water sip in. That was the deal breaker for me.

Personally, I prefer Touratech luggages due to the strength and durability of the hinge, boxes etc. Of cos, it's the most expensive of the lot, but imho, compared to the Yamaha OEM luggages, they are still slightly cheaper, and more worthwhile.

Indeed the TC is small, but personally, I don't like too much, too heavy stuffs in my topbox, especially when I'm touring, ie., going above 140. ^^

I do like the look of the Xplorer, in fact that's my first choice. however, due to some reviews on the hinges, I decided to spend abit more and get the touratech instead. :)

Should be arriving in the next few days.

I have read about the water seepage problem. Hopefully with the new TRAX EVO case, the problem is solved. if problem still persists, clear silicone should handle the problem well.

are the Zega pannier racks bolted on or a quick-lock system is available? I will only use my panniers when going up north. It's quite unsightly with the racks still in place.

The quick-lock system is also one of the things that I look out for when I choose my panniers.. currently SW Motech and H&B have these options.

maybe will try to get some grease to lube the hinges and see how..

hopefully they dun rub and wear out!!

actualy, i was heading the other way around. started with selecting Xplorer then hit roadblock on side rack then consider Givi & the Touratech.almost commit to the Zega Pro except dun really like the open/closing of the cover and also that the TC are only 38L which can only fit 1 FF and not much space left for raincoat & gloves.

good thing is now the side rack is solved then dun need to consider liao.

No bro. Dont have quick lock system.

Bro, try using Silicon lubricant. They are better for plastics and rubber. I have a big bottle of it, if you want, I can lend it to you. So far, working very well. I used it for my ram mount lock, and it's holding on very well. Silicone are also water proof. So that's the double bonus.

Plastic latch will creak, metal latch will rust, oxide effect on bare Alu sheet.leak will creek in on the plastic/Alu joint(except zega pro)

This is after all bikes case that will be subject to the weather element.

For good or for bad....as long owner is happy with it own decision on purchase can Liao.haha

Ain't that the fun of adding stuff to the bike bring joy to the owner & seller? LoL.

Yup. Agreed. All these stuffs haf advantages n disadvantages, so long u like it, feel proud abt it can liao. N of cos, taking care of it appropriately will go a long way.

It really bolt down to personal preference.some like it bling some like it Matt.

It don't matters as long the owner feel happy abt.

Some say givi trekker is plastic case(read:monokey) but it value for money & practical too.

Some say Zega Pro is over price but the beauty is in the workmanship & thickness of alu.

Some say TRAX & Xplorer leak water & feel pastic but it has 2-tone plastic/alu combo & presentable.

Some say yamaha original box is slim & plastic but it is match just for the S10 & is a beauty to view.just ignore that it a custom job by Givi(hearsay)

Lastly, who cares what 'some say'....as long you do your style cos no one is like you...:thumb: (as an individual).
