About shims...has been answered..check my post using search. For chain tensioner...you can hear back slash of you cam chain slapping noise in engine block.

knocking on the engine block?

i think i am experiencing this on my spec1 (my version S got scrapped when i was hit by a car at a red light 2 weeks ago)

does it feels like a constant hitting vibration just below the fuel tank?

wad would happen if left alone over a period of time?

Engine knocking is caused by bad grade of fuel use...like wrong Ron grade. What fuel are you using. It goes with heavy carbon buildup in valve train and the combustion chamber. Oso bad fuel to air mixture.

Go get additive that premix with fuel and and upgrade your ron grade..say if you are using 92 go to 95 or 98 and see if the problem solve.

Yes..prolong knocking..much like "pinking" can cause damages to the engine components.

fuel i pumped shell 95 to full tank when i got the bike out from the motordiam on tue evening (the shop gave me the fuel just nice for me to reach the nearest station) got add FP60 to my tank after pumping.

i going to my trusty mechanic tmr to have it checked. went back to the motordiam to ask and the mech there just said its the chain. adjust liao still same problem.

btw ah pek, u heard of ppl zng the radiator b4? my fan on itself even for a 2km ride. check my coolant reservoir and still got a lot of coolant left.

went back and checked with the motordiam again and the mech said my radiator fan had been zng-ed by the previous owner. fan ons at a lower temp. then the mech points to me the radiator fan connection on the left side and says "see got 2 connection, stock one is only one connection nia". got a feeling i kanna smoked

FP60..hope you ahve read the instruction correctly especially there is a clause in it that says preferrably use with another of their product. I recommend you sue biograded additive.

Fan..wah..how like that..either de-zng or remain zng-ed....LOL!...stupid previous owner.

Should be no problem...been using car eo all the while.

Hi Ah Pek,

Thanks for your information. :btw: Royal Purple had replied to my email. They were real fast indeed. They said that their motor oil is also suitable for wet-clutch use and will not spoil it, although the preferred oil would still be their Max-Cycle.

It's an electrical shop (ironically enough). The shop carries almost all of the royal purple products that you can see on their webbie. Only downside, the max-cycle is 10w-30.

Last time i went there was in January this year. And if i remember correctly, a bottle of Max-cycle costs $17.50.

Cheers!

Thanks dumbnut for the information. Yah, I agree that 10w30 is a little too thin for our climate. Anyway, I'm still pondering whether to use either the MOBIL 1 or Royal Purple. Headache lah! :?

Anybody diy brake fluid bleeding/change before? Is it difficult?

Shop charging $80++ to bleed, i dont think its worth it.. If its not too complicated to diy, i might want to do it myself. Any advice??

I think bt090 is good, even in wet weather.

Now i'm using bt039. Dry weather ok, but if it rains, just corner slowly lah.

Cool! Another thing to DIY. I'm feelin' like changing my brake pads and bleeding the brake fluid myself too. Think it's right about time.. :p

the paint remover can be used on ANY metal surface right? front fork, pillion footrest bracket, pipe, handlebar, etc. right?

Just bare in mind that its acidic and any paint or surfaces it touches..it's gonna 'burn' out the paint work or laquer layer..it even bites down you skin. When you are working with it, be very careful with your small painting brush as you brush bekuk when it the tail end of the brushes flip some droplets on anywhere, its gonna get burn...LOL! Have plenty of water around (a big pail) and use a wet cloth to remove those stained area that you do not want immediately (less than a second) affected.

Yes..it can be use for those items that are painted or laquered coated.

Don't use it on anything that does not need a surface layer remmove.

That cost I can understand but only concern is that wheather the quality of work is there..meaning as not to spilled any brake fluid on any part of your bike and putting back the two screws that is of stainless steel type on your front hydraulic reservoir. Things does happened when they rush during good busy schedule.

Mine was when I wanted to DIY...all stop short when I found both my two screws crroded half way and broke while unscrewing both. The other unexpectation was when have to temperory replace the two new screw after taking out the broken half..they forgot to tighten my lid properly...and while riding and needed to brake hard..brake fluid was sipping and spilling out when I applied brakes. The spliage flew onto my right tank and engine area unknowingly as I traveled on...sighhh..too late to know and damage was done..painwork surface all got etched by the fluid.:giddy:

Yah..its easy..but ain't typing the procedure all here..lazee and too much to type. May be over kopeee session at TGS next Friday nite..just a tot.:bounce:

No tyre is ever GOOD IN THE WET.

Good in aquaplane design for water dispering or ejection and hydroplane preventive effects maybe.

To ride on a film of water on a wet surface with a resulting decrease in braking and steering effectiveness is common to brand and make of tyres..even sleek soft rubber compound racing tyres are limited on special track race surfaces.

Plublic road is full or unwanted threats..like unburned gasoline and disel spilled on the road and that 'broke' driver who do not have the $$$s to fixed that leak gear box but yet can donate eo droplets on the road. Now..mixed that with a sprinker of light shower and ride over it (even on straights)..chances are you likely skid over it and the damage depends on your speed.

Now..what I want to share here is don't be "complacene" and over confident that your tyre is better and good in the wet as advertise. It should be that which public road is good in the wet. :bounce:

IMHO

FP60 I guess...selling at Mustaffa oso. One of those thingy that aded to fuel and supposingly cleanse and makes your engine..blah..blah..blah better. I have never tried it myself..wanted too but the price wasn't quite right for me and what really I don't like was something written on the pasted label in the bottle. There was a "may be"..do read carefully..that it may have to be use in conjucntion with another product of theirs too be effective which is an eo additive.

There is a thread here called "FP60 for S4" http://www.singaporebikes.com/forums/showthread.php?t=165123 and have comments from user..ppl sems to have backfire 'problem'..how true I dunno..go read and decide for yourself. I have used and still using other similar product and am quite happy with them.

Concern about product of such is that it may be good as what it claim it does but we all never know if its damaging something else like our oil seal etc..won't know till we try it. IMHO

Not my practice to talk about a product that I have not tried myself or just hear_say from others..so you ppl might want to have a go at it and feed back here.

If you do have interest in additive or what I term "liquid engineering" for that extra performance for your bike..always do go for 'chemical' that is "biodegraded".

guys, this happen to my bike, don noe if its true for the rest of the ver s. whenever i hit round 90km or more, my handle bar tend to vibrate alot. vibrate to the extend that my mirrors are also blur due to the vibration. i brought it to a motordiam, and the mech said its normal for this type of bike. so, i was jus wondering if fellow rider face the same prob. anyway, my bike is a ver s.

 ...WHAT!!?..normal my ass. Plse make sure you don't go back to the same mototiam again for just about anything.

We have to take this at a time and answer the following question first b4 we can zero in on the caused of it :

1) Do you have any engine guard or crash bar installed and what type?..can show pics"..both side please.

2) Park your bike and squat in front of it. Grab the two lower fork portion and push pull towards you a few times and tell if there is any mild rocking movement. It be better if you can somehow get your front wheel elevated to do this.

3) Sit on your bike now..side stand up..hands on handle and psuh forward hard a bit and let the bike move an inch or two..then brake suddenly. Now...is there any sound like a "kerk_Kork"?

Let us know the above first..there is still one final option which cannot be tested..but need to be done to solve the problem...that's engine mounting.

Yup, diy bleeding should be quite interesting. I've been reading up internet articles on the methods. Just kinda worried about those stories of brake fluid splashing onto the paintwork though.
