:)...btw, I had a discussion for opinion about that minor leak you have and it seems like its from improper job done previously when installing the magneto coil. Thee is no oil seal there, just that the coil connecting wire cming out from the crankcase is not seating right..so to say, a change of crancase gasket would not help.

Still can do if you want but if the leak is minor and can live with it, there is no harm. If you need to change coil or clutch plate some day, then may be along the way, can rectify it.

Understand and you have ur point. But its not about "necessity or cost taht anyone here is making the statement. There are reasons why these "breather caps" are made for sales.

It is fine if your eo level is filled as instructed but if its too much, it will affect your hi rev end top performance. Excessive eo will be bleeding out thru your airbox waste out snout (left hand side where a short transparent tube is attached to your exterior airbox lower chassis). This is clear sign of refilling too much eo and can be damaging as with having blown gasket etc.

Eo over filling is not uncommon. Most mototiam when draining used eo never quite borther to tilt over the bike and back again to get rid of left over eo from the first positon (side stand side) after it stop dripping..you be surprise how much there is still. Assuming he has tto change oil filter and added 3.2 litre eo, that unremoved left over can add up a lot more. With the 'extra' breather, oil pressure due to hi-rev and excessive oil can be relief from it more easily and would not affect performance at open throttle top end. You can even use slightly more than recommended eo without worries.

Look at it not as a "necessity" but an added avtanage. Simply..a kettle with two "blow holes" relief steam pressure better than one..thus also temperature rated cooler to one that has one..size of holes counts too.

It doesn't cost much to have a tube (1 meter $1.20) and a breather crankcase cap ($8-$10).

However for some Vtech S4 models that depend on the eo pressure build up to triggered "ON" the Vtech mode at after 6.5k rpm or 7K rmp..this may not be that useful.

I think adding extra crankcase breather is more for decoration, want to 'chio' just admit, don't be shy :)

Drian/top up still the best thing to do for excessive engine oil.

Its gonna be costly at Seng Kwang likely. May be you should think of a way to improvise by going to any iron or aluminium workshop to make a "C" shape grab bar and have it weld and painted onto your carrier rack or something. Just a thought.

thanks for the suggestion ah pek. i'll check out the prices at seng kwang first & if too high for me i gotta improvise liao

I've seen motortiam mechanic running the engine (for abt 10sec) after EO was drained out, looks like an attempt to drain out EO more thoroughly... it was a phantom200 though. will doing so on our cb400 harm the engine?

Running engine after EO drain out? I don't think this is good idea even for 10s, rather leave small amount of old eo inside than running engine with little to no oil.

Ok..next Wendesday at 9.30am then. Call me when you are here.

The Nology bike plug are not easily available or at all and I believe the distributor here does not carried it. Like someone said, "Brisk" and "Nology" are one and the same..but my source is from Nology. May have to wait at least two months from now though if you want.

Don't have to change your plug now..I changed mine when it 'cough' or one of my cyclinder is 'choke'...LOL! In the old days, we take it out to readjust the gauge gap back to specs and use it again thing the center core electrode is erroded which actually we can do now if we want.

Errr..."maybe u can for me ah? "...what that? You meant order a set for you 1st?

Eo interval changes is up to each individual. I still have ppl changing at 3k to 5k though the eo can last till 10k. In the near future, be blending with Nano Biochemical lubricant that can extend till at leat 20k...LOL!..not my claim but come with insurance coverage..not cheap though but still worth the $s verses change interval, protection and great performance.:sian:

Hey Ah Pek, was hoping u could help me out with a couple of things.

1)My rpm keeps idling around between 0.9 to 1.2k when it is hot. At traffic lights when i stop and go the idling drops to ard 0.5k while i throttle b4 moving off.

2)Rpm rises and drops slower as compared to other S4s.

3)At times when i try to engage 5,6 gear, i can hear Grrk Grrk sounds before the gear drops back down with a loud TIAK sound.

4)My meter light flickers alittle while the engine is idling. My headlights flickers when i am trying to crank it up.

Recently having have been experiencing a power loss especially in pick up and VTEC opening. I have just serviced/tuned my carbs, changed plugs, clutch plates,EO 1k ago only,New Batt,DIYed Grounding cables. I've already spent quite abit of money trying to fix these problems but it still wouldn't go away. Also my milage is coming to 90k soon, do you think its time for a top overhaul? If possible can you please advise me on what can be done to rectify the problem most preferbly the budget way lol.

I try to have a different relationship with the bike. I don't give it a name, but I always speak with it. I don't know if the other riders do the same. This is not only a piece of metal - there is a soul. The bike talks back too. But not with a voice, with the components" - Valentino Rossi

My best suggestion is to go back to the mototiam and talk to them about it first..after all, you did most of the things there and its only 1K ago.

Could be your carbs tunning not well done may not have been tunned and service properly..just a thought because erractic idling can be caused by inbalance of anyone fo the 4 carbs.

As far as gear shift change, the sound is normal..chain slack and clutch cable adjustment does help. As for lightings which flicker..check your battery terminal screws, make sure they are tighly fasten. Not sure about your grounding, perhaps should take them out for troubleshooting unless you know its done correctly.

No overhaul needed.
