I've clocked 300 km before the yellow light came up..on long distance...

When indicator touches red mark, usually 240+km depends on riding conditions dan road conditions..average is 17.5 km per liter or 5.6 liter per 100 km...as the book says...

but I still have not rectify the fuel pump, fuel filter and fuel line problem...huks huks..too busy...

when the indicator touches the red mark, mine was indicated as 130km. I just ride normally, seldom speed cos left with only 12 points. Hahahaha...

Does the fuel pump, fuel filter and fuel line may be the cause of this problem?

Does the fuel pump, fuel filter and fuel line may be the cause of this problem?

Since you asked and I have some stalling problem, No I don't think your new bike have the problem of fuel assembly. But if your're talking about 17.5 liter per 130 km then you FC is wayyyyy too high.

My stalling problem solved (I hope):

For 99/00 model, the fuel filter is located inside the tank. It is a white plastic thing like a column/stick with fine plastic filter.

The pump is located outside the tank while the later model has the pump inside the tank.

I've just had some stalling problem and was advised to check my fuel filter, fuel pump and fuel hose by some forumers here.

The hose is perfectly placed with wound-round spring wire and no kinking.

The pump runs well, with the grrrrrr sound when the key is switch to ON.

So only the fuel filter left, it looks OK when I opened it with a little rust stuck there and here. Like normal lah. The rust varies in size fine at the bottom and some coarse one.

But my tank was full at the time, what if the fuel level is low like when my stalling problem occurred. I drained the fuel and shake the tank with little fuel inside. Problem found! Lots and lots of rust, dark brown in color. The rust tends to saturate when the fuel level is low. So it clogged the column filter and that is why my bike stalls as if no fuel. Luckily the rust did not get pass the filter as the pump looks clean.

The question is how the tank can "produce" so much rust even if it rusted a bit ? If it rusted so much where the hell H2O came from? Adultered fuel? Winter condensation from the first country the bike came from? My neighbour sabotage me?

I will be riding tomorrow and report back if the problem solved :)

Go back to the shop and ask the salesman.

If not reload the zero mapping and see....

Yeah, I've done the zero mapping liao and I gain only 10km!!!! That means from full tank the bike will go only 140km till it reach the red zone. Siao!!!

how many liter lah your petrol when it hit read?

I asked because there a float inside the tank together with the fuel pump assembly.....if the float bended, the fuel indicator will give false reading but your fuel cannot be more than 8 liters...

ok, the next time I fill up I will take note how many litres I fill up actually. Didn't think of that one... But what I know is that when it reaches the red zone, I will fill up til $22-$23 it will be full.

22 dollar / 1.674 dollar per liter = 13.142 liter, if $1.674 is correct lah...I goggled..I'm in Malaysia....

1. the warning light should be ON at 17.5 liter more or less...

2. FC of 140km / 13.142 = 10.6 km per liter is too low compare to the usual 17-18 km per liter...according to the book...

So basically what you're saying is that mine is normal? I dunno bout the amber signal thingy, I just bought it. It's 2002 model.

If you're refering to fuel consumption,

No, your's not normal, the warning light should be ON at 17.5 liter more or less...while your's lite at 13+ liter...(assuming the petrol price is $1.674)

FC of 10.6 km per liter is too low compare to the usual 17-18 km per liter.

Yes,

2002 model signal light is amber...correct...
