Hi,

I've been wondering for a while what would be the nicest trip around Singapore to go cruising on a cool evening (or night).

I had pieces of roads in mind but was never able to put things together.

Place like:

- Connaught Drive

- South Boana Vista

- Evans road

have nice bends and curves to glide through... But how to connect them together?

would you mind sharing your favorite itenary?

Cheers.

I'll probably like to drop by too. My favourite is Neo Tiew... in the wee hours of the morning.

I don't care about people hollering "unsafe riding" because it's me, my machine and my own risk so... full throttle all the way. That's what motorcycling is about; you, your bike, your style. :D

I agree with kalyan. Neo tiew Rd is a nice place to be riding alone.

Faster than fast,

Quicker than quick.

Not the best video but if you have 4 times my cylinders and twice the power, it'll be infinitely more fun :D

That's Neo Tiew Rd and no, it's not that dark for real; the camera just has a tiny lens. Good way to release steam after a stressful day @ work.

As for linking these individual courses together - nabil and I have had almost nightly outings over the whole of last month. Can check out the "Airport Madness" video for another good place for an 'autocross' style experience.

Won't mind to organise one for you and anyone else interested :3

Bro, I answered Nabil's PM (a bit late sorry)...

Let me know when you guys are going out.

Cheers,

Pierre.

Neo Tiew Road road is nice, who will organise?

Always ride safely and defensively.

Repair bike cheap and fast,

Repair body expensive and slow.

There is only one best mechanic for your bike...YOU

It's going to have to be weekend mornings for Neo Tiew. That will give you clear roads, mist hopefully but watch out for any cyclists!

I have a number of other places to do your favourite rally re-enactments as well. Just to set the record straight I represent myself in outings I plan and are not affiliated with anyone/anything but my motorcycle :)

As for night outings, just pm me and I'll organise whatever, whenever. Daytime is for sleeping :3

And since you asked I'll test the water and see how it goes:

Hell's Highway Rally (Jurong East MRT - Neo Tiew Rd - Kranji - makan at Woodlands or Yishun)

Date: Saturday 29 May 2010

Time: 9am (day version) 9pm (night version) - night OR day will be run depending on riders' preference

Duration: 1+ hr

Class 2 bikes not recommended as we'll be taking enclosed backroads at road legal speeds. Treat this as more of a joyride. Basic formation etiquette expected (ie, stick to preplanned formation and speeds for safety)

I wish I could join, but no bike :(

Have fun for those who join, Kenny riding is real smooth and safe and he'd bring you too all the great and nice peaceful roads (:

i am interested to join.. morning or night, no problem. altho i prefer night, more fun...

u guys average speed how fast? if 80'ish, i bring my wave. Above that i use my s4 coz i dun like riding beyond 80 on wave....

Posted

Hi Blahh, would be glad to organise something for you. You may enjoy the Wave more because your opponent is a Phantom lol. And also some nice tight corners to take at 70+.

Can ride the Wave at max throttle and not be afraid of losing traction :) I've not rode with a S4 before so I can't make a strong suggestion on which bike to bring.

As for average speed I go 90 on highways and save the full throttle work for backroads; for the Neo Tiew course you could comfortably go 70 or so. Road is small so it feels fast already.

I've seen lorries and pickups go 90+ towards Kranji Dam, they're familiar with the roads doing daily delivery runs out of the farm. It's not a good idea to tag along behind as there are a lot of blind corners - no overtaking opportunity.

If we're lucky we can have a clear road to ourselves for a while and have fun with our cornering techniques. I'm setup for maximum low and mid range torque so 40-80 kph and tight corners are my favourite territory.

this sounds damn fun but this week i gave schedule already for work this weekend already (job + girlfriend)....

following week possible (june 11th and 12??)? always itching to bring my SP out to clock mileage and rev her heart out....

working nightlife so hard for me to commit weekends....

Cheap + fast = no good

Cheap + good = not fast

Good + fast = not cheap

i whole month of june free lah.. coz going to ord 4th june (wooooOO!!) and planning to relek the whole month.. heh heh. So I don't mind waiting for others lah, riding with more ppl more fun right.

Yep it is open to anyone. Big, small, tiny bikes are just as fun. I don't care if you guys want to run your bikes monthly, weekly or daily. The nights are always open to suggestions...

I'll be doing the aforesaid Saturday runs regardless or not anyone wishes to tag along to test some video equipment, so if you want to tag along, give me a PM nya :3

Just a suggestion ...

jurong (meetup) > neo tiew road (play backroads) > kranji dam (see scenary) > woodlands centre rd (rest & makan) > Admiralty road west (travel on backroad) > yishun (short rest?) > upp thompson rd (ride on the infamous devils bend..)

That will be a half-day session and yes nabil and I did something like this before.

If your backside can tahan, go for it! Also, bring cameras. If planned well we can intercept sunset/sunrise at the scenic spots!

Old Thomson Road is big fun any time of the day. Forward and reverse courses are equally entertaining! If you can mount cameras to your bikes, it'll be even more entertaining for us all since we can compile footage and omg, Top Gear Singapore.

Nabil found that you can use string to tie camera and tripod (normal digicam will do).

Sometimes it's not about the road, but the company! I tend to like riding with an aim to protect the other riders - there isn't a need to overtake the man in front just because things seem to be moving slowly. Or otherwise take sudden actions midway to a destination.

Believe me, infighting just pisses everyone off.

(and yes, there's someone specially assigned to shepherd the convoy / regulate speed, appearing in video 2)

Vol 1: JPB to Esso Station.

Basic convoy ops.

[yt]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9O4I75Gucl0[/yt]

Vol.2: Esso Station to Gul Crescent for the 'midnight waltz'

That's a fun name for dealing with simulated contingencies including frequent directional changes, unannounced speed changes and convoy separation.

[yt]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BSzSgRyGD8o[/yt]

Vol.3: Home Run to Tuas Checkpoint

Watch the Hamster deploy 4 (!!) markers in a single turn onto the highway! "Armani Escorts" disengage and return home, as planned.

[yt]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mg6wHN8mbwo[/yt]

Yes, it's a duplicate post from somewhere else. Lots of homework to do as the 'local convoy ops secretary'...
