Shoei >> Not thai master lah, just know a little bit here and there.

When they start speaking to me at normal fast speed,

my reply will be " Kor toot Pom mai khao jai Pom rian Pasar Thai nitnoy

Koon poot char char OK?"

when all else fails just bring out my trusty dictionary lor.

YZFX >> well done on the translation

go in from direction of Mae Chaem(route 1192) via MHS instead of

Chom Thong(route 1009) via Chiang Mai

unless they decide to put up 1 post from that direction that I mention or on the way up Doi Inthanon after turning in, still effective in May 06.

But seriouslty doubt so coz most tourists enter via chiang mai direction.

on the way out you will still pass by the post but they will not bother you since you are already inside.

none >> what u mean backdoors ? :cheeky: Info was given to me by buddy who went up last Oct lah.

since going in that direction from MHS back to Chiang Mai might as well go up first.

me not so hardworking like u guys to wake up early to catch sunrise by riding from chiang mai

shoei >> thanks for your support :thumb:

BTW hows your trip planning?

Daishi >> IMHO its too short of a timeframe left for your friend to get used to a new bike. Its better for him to skip this trip

YZFx >> IMHO in my humble opinion. Not adivsable for a person to get a new bike and spend so little time getting to know it before going for a long trip.

Not referring to his riding skills but the condition of the bike and his level of knowledge on the basic DIYing of the bike should a problem crop up.

In a group, especially if its small, every member has a part to play.

YZFX >> ATwin should be returning by the end of next week.

You actually went to take up a Thai language course.

Well done thats what I call preparation and dedication.

Definitely a good investment especially when interacting with the locals,

you will easily get information on whats good and whats not,

places to eat and frequently getting into places of interests at local rates or even free

As for me only pick up bits and pieces here and there using the dictionary.

Hope this thread doesnt get moved to Chatterbox section of forum

especially since the PM function is not working.

Oi Mods, you guys reading this

Eh bro not go 1 big round lah.

When visiting the GT area, every rider will do the MHS loop of 1000+ curves,

you will definitely passby Doi Inthanon relatively near on the way back to Chiang Mai.

First you will save on the entrance fee, second you will definitely save on the petrol.

Entrance fee ??? coz somebody posted entrance fee for national park in N Thailand has been increased to BHT 400 but never stated which 1.

Normal Entrance Fee for national Parks are BHT 200.

Petrol savings : since returning back to Chiang Mai clockwise from MHS, if you head up to Doi Inthanon first, you will not be retracing your path by visiting it separately.

Unless you are a diehard sunrise fan, then no point making a separate trip.

For me, sunrise is better spent sleeping in Chiang Mai recovering from all d Beer Chang from the previous night.

YZFx >> Anti-clockwise

WE300B >> Thanks for clarifying. So did they shift the ticket post to somewhere after the turn into the road up the mountain or its still at the base b4 turning in.

Evilyn >> Can check which insurance seller did you try? The ones on the Malaysian side before the border, the Duty free complex between the 2 borders or the Sellers just after the Thai border.

18. Chiang Mai earthquake damages dorms (10:49 Dec 13, 2006)

Chiang Mai Earthquake

Riding from CM to MHS,

The more technical curves will be encountered during the earlier part of the day when the sun is not too high up yet and you are more fresh.

not sure what u mean, but after the ticket post, you can turn left to Mae Chaem or go straight up the mountain. So I guess u can siam the ticket post if you're coming from Mae Chaem.
