nobody can give you an accurate quote as it is based on alot of factors, including bike model, rider's age, exp, accident claim history etc...

If you really want a cls 2 sports bike, you might want to look at 2nd hand ones, they are generally required less insurance premuim as compared to a brand new one. Think the suzuki class 2 sports bike have the least expensive insurance pricing as compared to the other brands, dont ask me why they calculate like that, that's how they come up with the formula.

Just go down to the bike shop and get a quote. Otherwise you can contact NTUC for a free quotation. Among the 4 Jap brand, Suzuki has the lowest premium due to some factor determined by the insurance companies. Kawa normally the most expensive. But I have heard the agent has a tie up with a insurance company to give a cheaper and more afforable insurance if you buy from them. This is hear say, got to check yoursleves.

AHAHAHAAAAAA the old grandmother stories about kawa insurance again. Kawas have the cheapest insurance cos AIG has a special rate for them, available thru places like looi's motor or dili trading. My last renewal i went direct to AIG, also special price.

I guess the old tales have a good side, keeps the big kawas a little more rare and exclusive, you won't see one on every street corner.

I'm 31 years old and paying $788 for FIRST PARTY insurance on my '08 zx-10r.

hmmm sounds crazy to me, but those price they quote are "comprehensive" huh? My bud, riding a 07 CBR1000RR, age 26 with 6 years of riding experience, TPFT @ 1400 (approximate figure) inclusive of his NCD (No Claim Discount).

hm... i am much younger than you... whatever insurance i get confirm very the expensive

its cool to have a big bike when you are young , but must decide whether its worth it to pay all this extra money for no reason... sianz

i think i will prob wait till past 26 to get a cl 2 bike... cuz insurance will start to drop by tt age... since ts is only 1 year away, might just as well wait and get bigger savings right?

boring rider. with a boring bike.

too old to want to appear interesting anymore.

old grandmother story? few bike shops i went and take a look at kawasaki, it contains the highest points amongst the japanese bikes.

Rat bike - A motorcycle not necessarily kept in pristine condition, often painted matt black. Minimal maintenance and mismatched parts often used.

um but the insurance budget will influence TS's quality of life when living with abovementioned favorite bike

if you are always worrying about how to pay off the insurance every year, how to enjoy living with the bike?

for me, i find it senseless to keep paying the insurance company so much extra money every year. even though i am in a so-called high risk age bracket, i have not made any claims, n i wouldnt want to pay so much for other young ppls' mistakes, it's like throwing money in the drain.

u are 31 lei... of course cheaper la

TS die die must ride 1k cc bikes? 600cc cannot meh?

cl2 sportsbikes are considered "luxury" items. Good to have, but don't have also can still survive. Thus, no money, no ride. kthxbye!

Actually i was considering to get a cl2 bike too, i'm 24 this year btw, but thinking of the prices of insurance, it really puts me off. why do you pay insurance and in the end, end up with nothing year after year, maybe the NCD. but i totally don't find it a point to pay so much for insurance unless you get into accidents often, but which mofo will? hah. just my 2 cents worth :)

haha yea agreed... insurance is juz a requirement to ride or drive on the road. which i tink is stupid if we dun get into accidents at all *touch wood* we will end up throwin our $$ to this blood suckin companies for nth and they dun even nid to do anythin but to keep takin our hard earned $$ and its not little...

in short, they either wanna take our hard earned $$ withou givin us anythin OR... wan us to get into accidents so tt they can prove their worth... which i tink either way is DAMN STUPID...

its been so long...

I wonder hows insurance be like for 24yo with 6 yrs riding exp for OLDER roadbikes like hornet 600 or fazer6?

Becoz I don't see the point of riding a sportsbike if u dun go track. Posing2 show people u riding sportsbike but have to eat grass and pump petrol late at night in jb for what. I wun get a cl2 bike until I am able to get one while maintaining my current style of living & cash expenditure

For some reference, i got my first zx-10r, an '04 model in 2006. The bikeshop that i was buying from (pleasure motorsports) recommended i get my own insurance from another shop nearby (dili trading) which deals with AIG for kawas. Pleasure straightforward told me it would not be worth it to get insurance for the bike from them.

I paid about $1400 for first party insurance on that bike, at the time i was 27 and had 0% ncd, would have been more if it was a new bike. Over the years it's gotten cheaper due to my age and ncd going up. I traded in my '04 for an '08 zx-10r to Looi's motor which also has the AIG offer, paid about $1.1k for first party on my '08 brand new and now it's down to $788, which i didn't even renew at Looi's, i went to AIG direct for renewal.

So my advice is if you're gonna get a 2nd hand "big kawa", get the bike details, buy the insurance separate from either dili trading or looi's motor or maybe you can even ask AIG direct. I don't know how bikeshops operate with regards to someone not getting the insurance from them, from my limited experience it was not a problem. If you're gonna buy one brand new, get it from an authorised dealer which can offer the AIG deal.

More info on the AIG deal. It's called Kawasaki Motorcycle Autoplus. My excess has always been constant at $1300. For claims-related repairs i have to go back to authorised repairers, there are 5 and i think you can also buy the AIG insurance from these 5. Evershine Auto, Sin Boon Motor, Looi's Motor, Atan Motoring Supply and Dili Trading.

Hope that sheds more light on the whole kawa insurance matter. Everyone seems to think it's high cos they're probably getting quotes from ntuc or something. Just like car insurance, must shop around lah.
