If i had the iron man suit, hell i would wear it. I find that a Head's Up Display with a computer Lady's Voice saying this and that is the best way to keep you alive.

If you talk to yourself in your CL-ST while riding the echo really sounds like the Iron Man suit AI! Try it lmao!

i've seen ppl splurging on bike mods and accessories on bikes like kup kias, aftermarket exhaust systems and steel braided hoses, etc, etc.... but dressed with open face, t-shirts, shorts and slippers....

who is the poser here? ppl rather spend $$$ to 'beautify' their rides than investing in proper riding safety gears...

it seemed their bike is more important than their own body.

a person who is really passionate abt biking will tour or track.

not just pasting decals all over, making bike clean and polished all day long. a bike is meant to be ridden not kept in showroom condition at all times...

if ppl choose to be a poser, it's their business and none of mine, im not gonna say they are wrong, it is their decision. but if you ask me whether they are just posers, im gonna reply 'yes'.

How do you know if they choose to wear their gear only when touring or hell riding up North?

I got gear, but I rarely wear them in SG. Only for up North riding.

I dunch pose in SG. I only pose in MY. ;)

that is something i don understand. if wear proper gear while going touring, don wear gear while riding locally...

i ask the same question, is the road locally less rough and hard compared to boleh-land tarmac? a low speed 50kmh crash can cause serious enough injuries.

i understand the reluctance to gear up, the inconvenience, the warm and humid weather, etc, etc.

but hey, i do not want to incur hefty hospital medical bills, painful bathes and the likes.

Class 2B - 26/03/2009

Class 2A - 01/06/2010

Class 3 - 10/07/2009

Rides(s)

1) Honda TA150 - 20/04/2009 to 31/08/2014

2) Honda CB400 Ver S - 12/07/2014 to ???

Everybody's got a reason. Mine are:

- Dont wanna sweat or carry bulky gear to office

- Dont wanna go walking/shopping in town carrying all that gear

Bo bian. No box. And I don't like a box on my bike.

Besides, I gear up when up north because when I ride up North, I ride in such a way that I would break SG traffic laws thrice over. So gearing up is probably the minimally wisest thing to do.

Plus... Did I mention I like to pose in MY?

I'm sure my family would want me to get this baby if I ever ride again.

Well said mate!

Buy the best riding gear you can afford, and it is still cheaper than hospital bills.

Those who tasted asphalt would know what I mean...

Agree...But to those who can taste the asphalt, TOLD you to get FF liao still dun listen.

Rebuilding my dreams. But first, the gears

1) WP RS Taichi riding jacket

2) WP riding pants

3) Titanium riding gloves

4) Garmine Nuvi 550 GPS (US$259)

5) WP Komine riding boots

6) Arai Helmet

7) The BIKE of course! :cheeky:

OMG this is the most stupid thing I've read on this forum!

Is there some universal law that says that if you fall while riding a 2B bike, you will not get injuries?

Anyway, my gear will never cost as much as my bike, because my bike is VERRRRRRY EXPENSIVE. Hmm but I still consider myself a poser leh...

Hmm.. I guess i had put it in the wrong way?

I agree that safety is very important.

I myself always try to cover most of my body part by not exposing it.

Maybe i should rephrase it to overdress where the word 'poser' comes into mind by first look?

No harm lah :D

Words are like that, at first glance "omg must hantam that person" then later - nothing wrong wat, you have a point too :3

Moral of the story - miscommunication is a human tendency, plus we all post in good faith. We should not have to mince our words and make everything so 'politically correct', that the discussion becomes totally lifeless. SBF is not a courtroom. :)

Helping out at a friend's bike shop as a mechanic I have met some customers who in my humble opinion....REALLY deserve the title of posers....

Ride expensive sports bikes... but can only afford to buy second hand track scuffed tyres.

First want to pose as rich guy with sports bike when actually struggling to afford.... and then show off to others like as though he is the one that scuffed the tyres till there are no chicken strips.

I'm surprised there is a market for secondhand tyres. Even for my humble little cub I throw away tyres on a regular interval. Fresh, soft compound is great to have as safety insurance.

Of course, going up the horsepower scale, Super Four tyres may cost up to $300 or more per set (for Battlax) but it does match the cost of 2A upkeep, and synthetic oil change + new filter might top $100 anyway. Pay more for fresh tyres = a good thing.

I goto pose when i ride, cause drivers take a second look at you if you don biking armour jacket and FF, at least you get notice on the roads. Being too common on the road is a certain risk of being ignore and squashed.

Agree, some attention-seeking absolutely rocks for motorcycle awareness.

Last night had to lead a GSXR to a big bikes' meeting in the city. With FFs, reflective vest and improvised bollywood gear on cars on the AYE saw us and gave way to us. Both Mr GSXR and I were more or less "wtf" but yeah we went from Jurong to Chinatown in like, record time thanks to posing :D

Yeah, see and be seen!

Unfortunately a jacket and a full face helmet would never warrant riders' safety in terms of attention grabbing. Unless your choice of colours is somewhat striking, of course.

In addition to the above and contrary to LTA views, loud pipes and air horns save lives. :thumb:

Loud pipes also numb your hearing and concentration, you can't hear people tooting the horn to warn you of danger, and you get run over.

Anyone can ride a bike. Being a biker, is a state of mind.

My friend, at high speeds wind/road noise is far more superior to whatever pipe you have. I use ear plugs and you should too. Oh, my apoloies... I was not talking about class 2B, mat-rempit bikes.. it just never occured to me. :) Those indeed can be very irritating and noisy.

Yes, squire, am pleased we are on the same page of the same book. :thumb:

The trouble is that on Singapore roads one must drive a tank to be seen and remain safe. Maybe use its cannon every now and then, as needed. :D

I agree. Some are still ok but some still get annoying.. Still love aftermarket pipes in big bike though.. Never get bored of it.. Haha

Well my other attention grabbing gimmick is my bike is a white TP bike without the crest and 'police' wordings. I am still looking for the police lime green riding jacket with armour if i can find one.
