I am using E.A.R earplugs- yellow rubber insert with blue rubber cord.

I find that this is good enough for me, and I have been using it since N.S. days for shooting range, fibua and etc....

availabe at Army Market Beach road. It comes in a Blue plastic container.

Get E.A.R and not its imitation.

Easy to clean, store and its cheap.

However, i would also like to know of any biking specific ear plugs, like the one used in LONGWAY ROUND.

I.M.H.O, just get the normal disposable ear plugs will do.. Usually its in orange or yellow in color. Get those spongy ones cos the hard type hurts. E.g 3M sells it in 1 box. Inside abt 100+ pairs. Not sure how much. Furthermore its certified under WorkSafe, an industrial application use.

i tried the E.A.R ones, i cannot wear my helmet fitting them on. or the earplugs will just drop off as i am wearing my helmet. changed to those 3M sponge ones now.

bro, where to get the 3M sponge ear plugs?

Most pharmacies will have them. I like the orange cone shaped ones over the brown cyclindrical shaped ones. The orange are softer and stay in better when putting on the helmet.

Also, although not recommended, the earphones that seal into your ear canal are excelent. I found the slimmist version over at Funan at the headphone shop on 2 or 3 floor. About $40 but the sound is very good and it shuts out the noise almost as well as the earplugs. Can ask them whats the best for helmets. I wear a full face helmet.

Have been using the army one for quite some time. The blue plug with red cord. The type that has got a seal.

That one is quite good and comfortable. :thumb:

Biking is something that everyone can learn and enjoy! :goodluck:

great suggestion! hv been thinking of riding with some music while on NSHW, but did not wanna compromise on ear protection.

The seal ear buds earphones may just work, I heard from fren that the buliding opposite funan, on level 3 or 4 has a audio shop that specializes in earphones, and they do custom fitting earphones too.

I was trying to find that shop as I had read about it. But had no luck. If you find it, please let us know as I wanted custom fitting version. But the one I picked up seals up very well so am happy.

And yes, it is great for going up/down the NSHW. Just dont blast it to much or wont hear any traffic.

Reviving a 2-year old thread cos I don't want to start a new one.

I have been using 3M orange foam earplugs for some time now. They are great when new, cos they roll up nicely and expand slowly, allowing me to insert them deeper into the ear. However they get really "springy" after 2-3 uses and have to be replaced. The 50 cents add up quickly and soon I realised that they are not as cheap as I thought. At approximately $100 a year and only -20 dB rating, I think I can spend my money on better protection.

So, the golden question again: Where can I get custom-molded earplugs made? It's probably going to involve an audiologist making an impression of my ear canals, but if I can get a pair (or a few pairs, since incremental cost should be minimal) made for

try any good ENT clinic.

SGH block 5 basement has a ear specialist what can do custom moulding with soft silcone or similar.

it's about S$100+++ per side

Grounded... :/

I went to Beltone Hearing Centre out west and for $150 they made a custom molded pair of earplugs for my ears that knock ALL the sound down, pricey some may say, but until you've ridden for 6 hours with something other than custom fit plugs you don't realize how much more alert you are at the end of the ride....
