Good day Guys.

This may be a bit embarassing. But I do not know much about riding gears even after riding all these years. So needs some recommendations

Maybe I'm betting old. More Kiasi already.

I am looking for a riding jacket, with armour pieces. I was told that the "mesh"type will not be so hot in local weather.

What are the price range like for this so called Armoured Mesh jacket?

Thanks in advacne

Hi bro/sis/alien/ (does not matter),

it depends on the brand, but you are definitely right on with mesh jackets.

My past and present jackets, I got from MotoWorld, brand is Komine, brand from Japan

http://www.komine.ac/

The price will be something from $150-$300, depending on the model.

Well, there are some waterproof mesh jackets or those with water proof linings to which I say dont bother.

With waterproof jackets, you will be half baked and its does not rain most of the time. When it rains, just don your regular rain coat over.

For the mesh jackets, the basic armour pieces are the elbow, shoulder and back armour. Some comes with extra chest, side armour, but you have to make a choice. Mine dont have chest nor side, as its is way too bulky for me.

When you try the jacket on, the fit should be just nice.

The jacket cannot be too tight, nor too loose.

Zip up all the way to the neck, and try flexing your elbows or the normal arm position when you ride.

The jacket should not move all over the place, nor should it be uncomfortably tight. Look for a nice fit.

The foam/ plastic armour will confirm to your body shape after some time.

There are other brands like SPIDI, SPYKE and of course Dainese.

To each of his own, but a high end jacket can buy me a whole set of mesh jacket+pants+riding boots.

You got to see where you want to stretch your dollar. :)

Ride safe.

TS probably bought the jacket liao. but congrats for deciding on safety vs perception!

anyway, do tried out different brands of jacket.. all of them having different sizing and cut.. personally, komine is recommended for asian fit, and its very budget too.

if u have more cash, can consider perforated leather jacket. leather have better protection again abrasion.. verus, for mesh jacket, u only get protection where the protector/guards are.

n contrary to many perception (including mine's b4), perforated leather jacket as just as well ventilated as mesh textile jacket imho...

In my opinion, some perforated leather jackets actually can be more ventilated than mesh textile jackets. Tried out several brands of perforated leather and mesh jackets, and the best I ever had is the Vanson Breeze perforated jacket. It is made from competition weight leather with very well cut perforations, and it is more cooling than than all the mesh jackets I've tried.

Nah. Not yet. Sill searching. Anyway, I'm not that rich to come out 200-300 every week.

Saw Komine and rs taichi. But I think the size don't really fits well. My sizing is more european size. Most of their jacket seems to be abit short at the sleeve area.

I will check and see what brand and model suits me. COme to the worst guess have to save and buy the more expensive dainesse.

Unfortunately Vanson jackets not for sale in Singapore. Jacket is made in USA, its top quality stuff. I brought it second-hand on Ebay, but now its too small for me. I've since brought another one that's one size bigger.

I'm selling mine if anyone's interested :p

You can find out more from Vanson website
