Just back from our annual ride to Fraser's Hill ... 1022kms in total ... missing Fraser's already.

Riders' Cafe is good...i heard its cheaper than its neighbour which we went the other time so should appeal to more people...

Not only were the prices more reasonable, the food was excellent and the ambience perfect. The boss was also interested in our group and wanted to know what club was it.

Asked us to call him if we needed a table next time :3

Therefore we have ourselves a new base.

@tankee1981 also did some food testing for the restaurant, before we embarked on an ambitious, scenic and very complex route through low density residential estates, around Caldecott hill and explored the "Braddell Highway" en route to Tampines over the viaduct from Bartley.

There was no rain, no bad traffic, no safety incidents and no idle time. Pure kopitiam engineering and pillow talk at its finest.

Who ever said rigid rules were needed to ensure an excellent outcome? Why not be democratic and let the new members set the tempo. Newbies are the future leaders after all, Lol.

We even got to escort a large convoy of cyclists and next time we shall have our own bicycle outing. LOL

Yup, it was a nice one this evening... didn't know there were so many nice places in sg (less the humps). looking forward to seeing the pics~ ;)

Yep, short and action packed is the way to go lol. Nothing like rediscovering little hidden gems @ home.

Photography sergeant (Green S4) may take over at this point :3

Midnight cruises always remind me of this show

Except of course, we don't crash at the end. LOL.

Trying to have time to develop the new website but health issues are troubling me at the moment :3

Some of your pictures are composed well and are perfect candidates for a vintage filter.

Nice ride, guys! Sorry had to leave early and couldn't continue on to the midnite kopitiam session.

We thought to try the new Wendy's at Sengkang and ended up slogging through greaseburgers, solid milk shake and sour cream with some baked potato in it (1 ton of cream, tiny potato).

Is the food in America all like that? I'm going to die LOL

Mission briefing:

29 July 2011 Payday Special

We will be going prospecting for factories.

This outing will feature open, community based planning. You can comment on my facebook status for target area, routing, makan suggestions. For example, we have a list of convoy appointment holders based on the regular platoon sergeants there already.

@spyder@sg - Battlestar commander

@tankee1981 - Company 2IC

@E| A|umno - Photography IC

Other areas you can chip in are:

1. Gathering Point

Riders Cafe again? Or recce somewhere else?

2. Routing

Expressway or rural? Do you want to visit suburban areas like Caldecott again?

3. Supper Destination

We have presently no expertise in Western Singapore makan places and hints would be nice.

Otherwise we will fall back to West Coast Highway Macdonalds.

Alternatively, call for pizza delivery to some unknown destination 20km away and we can have a time trial to catch the delivery :D

I think I will likely join in for this trip. Any place with less humps is always appreciated lol.

Western part of Singapore+corners= Gap/99 bends ;) Time trials? Many places available to "test test" your bike. A few are West Coast highway, Pasir Panjang road, Jalan Buroh flyover onwards. After midnight, whole KJE can be your playground lol. Tuas South Aves also deserted and the roads got nice bends . Just a few insights from my own little experience in the west.

Company 2IC may be doing recce tonight on the next meetup point. Top Gear style race vs pizza delivery needs Dawn Patrol style precision gathering ability so we will leave that out for now.

It appears that beside Eurocopter Asia you have two huge new roundabouts and a colonial era restaurant. From there we can exit Seletar area via the shortcut through Yishun covered by the 9th July Dawn Patrol. This will be a "urban shortcut" route from Yishun - Sembawang - Admiralty - Kranji for the first stage, and the second we will view several important factories.

List of industrial objectives includes a refinery, shipyard, and brewery and there may be more. There is also a secret pit stop facility consisting of an uncompleted road in the middle of an open field, known only to heavy vehicle operators :3 The trick will be locating all of the key industrial facilities and "underground" parking facility and not getting lost.

After industrial prospecting we'll send the "Battlestar" home via KJE and see if anyone is up for part 2.

So we have for now a route and if platoon sergeants may temporarily take over the front end of the convoy during Yishun Ave 7, Admiralty Road and Kranji sections (the "go straight only" parts) I can do some HD video recording to capture the awesomeness for all eternity. Lol.

Next planning detail:

Battlestar in front or behind?

Of course, for the past month we put battleships in the rear and small units in front

The reason being we use the "frigates" and "light cruisers" to clear a path through traffic before the heavies pass through.

However the Spyder's four "laser cannon" might be invaluable serving as a beacon at the front to alert other motorists of the convoy's presence. It might be worth experimenting to put heavies first and light units tagging along behind.

Since convoy will be moving at a constant speed of 80-90kph (indicated), 2B bikes who are convoy appointment holders can still sprint ahead to act as pilot boats (lead convoy during turning points / heavy traffic), while the Battlestar is the rally point while cruising.

I can handle rear security using 'special vehicle tactics' and all filming needs to be done from the rear, anyway.

Company Command issues:

For issues with possible security concern such as meeting point selection (we do not advertise the target venues) and mission objectives, I have just created the Moto-Recon Company's private facebook page.

For riders like @ah_pork and @eternity83 who may end up being our regular riders, do PM me so you can add me on facebook. That's of course, provided family & friends don't mind you tagged with "unsafe outlaw motorcyclists" as is the common traditional perception of bikers LOL.

Haha... no lah, the spyder is not the Battlestar commander... more like the sweeper, the landing ship tank (LST) actually, providing logistic support to the group from the back. Cat should be the CO, commanding officer lah. Hehe... ;)

Lol the whole company's strategy is now focussed on trikes. It's a new and novel experience using your vehicle as a means to develop new tactics on how to integrate a wide variety of machines into the same convoy.

Before this we had no idea how well a 3 wheeled motorcycle would fit into Singapore traffic (there was only one trike discussion I participated in on SBF chatter box involving a lady driver, @Chiwawa).

We have run only one outing using @Fyrecat 's car which made for an excellent jumbo-sized sweeper. This was our first and only experience with a safety car and your Spyder has done admirable service in a similar role.

Definitely if we start carrying around more photography related equipment (@tankee1981 want to try DSLR?) or even packaged food, we could officially rent your cargo capacity to make more use of your LST lol.
