I second that.

Kindly add us all into the "prestigous" VFR group after that. :)

I think Koma is no longer riding a VFR.

Why not let vfrt be the moderator, since he's the most qualified and one of the most senior among us?

If you are talking about valve clearance inspection, I had done it at 45k mileage. I believe that time I had 1-2 valves out of spec.

After adjusting, somehow feel that bike is more responsive.

Of course you should also do the throttle synchro as describe by vfrT.

hi all,

when do u all know its time to a major piston synchro servicing? any symptoms?

my mileage almost 80k already

or do i stick with "things aint spoil, aint fix it?" vfrTeng?

thanks in advance

Is SBS brake pads still in the market?

Was using that a while back for the rear and it seems pretty good compare to now "no brand" brake pad.

EBC HH on my front produces too much dust and noise, really can't stand them.

Actually most shops can change easily as its a simple job. However, if you must, u can be sure of a good job at Mah (Jn Besar), Looi's or Motorworld. They stock good parts and are reliable and reasonably priced.

Brake changing is a very simple process. You could save a few $ by DIY, LAB sell Ferodo Platinum at $22 a set (when I last bght). Brakings good. I use EBC HH on my front - which I find is hard on the rotor; and Ferodo Platinum on my rear, although I've use Ferodo also on my front with good result previously - ie less rotor wear.

It ought to be. I get my supplies from LAB (SBS ceramic) - he alternates between pushing this and Ferodo depending on stock availability. But I think many of the better shops should have it.

U are rite about the EBC. This would probably be my last set, although I still have 1 set (for 1 caliper) in stock keke. -Anyone want to buy?

Hi guys, just adding my compliments or comments on the VFR. This bike is unique from other touring bikes like FJR etc.Sitting position is like on a sports bike. Is this bike meant for touring or street? How comfortable is it to ride on long tours? I believe the price has not dropped much on the market, despite of having just a 800cc engine with chained driven transmission.Rarely sees VFR riders on the road except for the men in white nowadays.....safe rides.

It's great for both touring and street riding... that's why Honda has it under the sports tourer category. There are quite a few in Singapore, but definitely not as easy to spot. Seems like out and out sports bikes are all the rage... R1s, Fireblades, GSXRs... but I simply love my VFR... its scarcity makes it even more special. :cheeky:

I believe there are many pros and very few cons la... hahaha

at least in this thread, we will be very biased in favour of the VFR.

but just to mention one potential con...

some riders don't like the vtec... especially when they use it on track...

reason is due to the surge in the powerband can be destabilising.

but i don't have any problem with it, cause mine's all street riding.

perhaps track users can comment.

Drop back a little search in the thread...

I think Hamsterz, Koma, None and some others VFR riders did left behind much valuable feedback on the VFRs

1. tor

2. speed

3. comfort

4. 2-up touring

5. handling

etcetc

Think some not owning the bike anymore, or too lazy to re-type..

Thank You.

ABS models add in almost S$2K to the machine. But overall, the ABS is great for commuting and touring as it did saved me twice from day-dreaming errors. Otherwise, its a pain in the A** while on track..

If you consider $$ vs CC, Yes it is expensive for a 800cc machine. But the ride, the build, quality and V4 characteristics puts the VFR above most similar or higher cc make motorcycles, especially as an all rounder machine.

1. As touring machines --> Great comfort (I had 2500kmh without aches)

2. As track machines --> Great handling but not superb compared to pure sports machines. But beats other tourers almost hands down.

3. As 2-up machines --> Totally pillion frenly. I was a pillion on my own VFR at 160km~200kmh for 220kmh. Great panniers & grab rails for the added security. No bending no aches as a pillion. But a fully loaded VFR with 2-up is a little tad on torq which is pretty apparent on the free-ways... especialy when overtaking.

Hope these ecperiences helped you in a way or another..

Thank You.

Bingo.. you are right... I encountered various scenerios on the track whildt keep within the power band. Some exits just happens to be right somewhere at the VteC zone.

Now, imagine you are leaning at turn 3, and the VteC kicks in... the bike wriggles a little, the rear slides a little...balls drop. that also happened in the chicane.

I truely agree to your point. The only way is to really keep it above vtec transition rpm, whichi only gives you up to abt 11.8k rpm... very little to play with actually..

Thank You.
