I just serviced my viffer and got tensioner replaced and FI cleaned. My Mech spotted that the connector carrying the alternator current was close to a complete meltdown with serious concequences. He said the 02/03 models have this problem. You guys may want to check your connector. It is located next to the rectifier bundled up with some other wires.
hello, didn't have the chance to ask you the last time we meet. What kind of rack are you using? Is it a ventura or a H&B? how much is it?

I have a H&B top rack and a set of H&B racks for side paniers. I don't use the side racks as I don't have the paniers and the H&B are actually too wide. Not sure about the price as it came with the bike but you can check with M-technic in Ubi as they have the full H&B range

Hi guys, looking for 2nd hand VFR. Anyone know of any on sale?

Looking for 2002 onwards, original red with original sidebox.

Checked with ASP, Loois, HKL; all don't have. (Erm, I don't trust other shops already =p )

Meter temp readout is not a good reflection for warm-up, especially so from complete cold start. Touch your crankcase cover when the readout is 50~70deg, your hands will most probably get the ambient temp reading. A warm feel is a better bet before moving riding off.

A full warm up is only critical when u intend ride hard/high rpm/accelerate fast from the day's first ride from cold. Apart from that, you can actually move off and ride "gently", as the important factor then is to have the EO well circulated from the dead bottom sump. :cheeky:

Thank You.

I ride below 4K rpm when the high idle is still on, after a cold start. After 55 degress, the idling will settle to normal and then I ride it normally.

I am out of context here, but I its impt to have yr tyres warm enough and yr head screwed on right before "... u intend ride hard/high rpm/accelerate fast from the day's first ride from cold."

This advise was learned from a fellow Viffer who crashed within minutes after the first ride for the day as his head is still not fully tuned for speed and tyres are still cold.

No offence in my language, but a simple answer to that. I never mentioned riding at high speeds or low lean angle negotiating of corners/bends.

1. Ride hard --> All it takes is moments of lower gear acceleration beat almost 80% of the moving cars from traffic lights.

2. High rpm --> At the same speed of 70kmh but i can be at a lower gearing for a better response.

3. Accelerate fast --> Pick up speed fast with less number gear up-shifts i.e at a higher rpm.

4. Day's first ride from cold --> Need no be in the early morning, hence the mindset is not the same as the morning blues..

All I meant in the earlier post was not to ride at a relaxed pace, but a slightly more aggressive manner. :cheeky:

This always occurs when I am going to work... LATE..

Thank You.
