roy regarding uyr idling problem .. i used to have this kinda prob on my s4, went to HKL and let ah-zhen inspect ... he said the injection pin spoil then got it changed and fully check the bike and found out that the spark plug cord was leaking also got that changed too ... after that did tuning and bike was roaring out of the workshop performing like a million dollar jet plane ... hahahax.

My Advice is to go to find a shop and let the mechanic listen to the bike ... don't rush them when they checking ur bike, i'm sure they'll find out whats wrong and make ur ride feel like a miliion dollar jet plane .... cheers.

Hi, thanks to recommendation from Yahoo Rider, I went to the shop at Ubi, and the mechanic Ah Pak did a check and said 1 of my spark plug was not firing, after changing the spark park coil, now the bike seems great. Have tested and so far so good. Thanks to Yahoo_rider again for a good mechanic. Cheers.

Hi guys. Am contemplating getting a VFR for daily usage and long rides. Is there any reason not to? Haha! :D

How's the fuel consumption compared to the CBR1K? I get about 200km before reserve light comes on. Actually my main motive of switching is due to the more comfortable sitting posture for both the rider and pillion.

Are there any new VFRs @ the shops? Whats the pricing like for a new one?

Sorry for the list of questions. Thanx! :thumb:

best ever 389km before reserve BUT mine is a 5th gen bike so :cheeky:

a friend of mine said he prefer the 5th gen posture than his 6th gen

My 5th gen hit 320 before reserve, and it's my only transport too. To be frank I am confident of 400 km for the whole tank but don't wanna risk it.

Reason NOT to get? Adding boxes to VFR kinda makes them not so good looking. Even the OEM side panniers (IMHO).

can safely say around 300km b4 reserve. posture definitely better for both n especially the extra hand grail 4 pillion to hold acting as a rear "Slider"(viffer know what im refering to)

i guess heat is the main issue for V-Engine... but u r already riding a CBR1K shouldnt b a problem, big bike standard quite hot...

pricing wise is quite individual as some would rather spent the extra $ for a bigger cc or agile sports bike as VFR is quite heavy and half sports-tourer

new should b 23-24k, used im not 2 sure mayb hav2 c depending on license plate, should b around 16k n below ba.

Thanx for all the great responses guys! Mileage seems really good for a V4! :thumb:

Does 5th gen = Interceptor with no ABS? And 6th gen = the newer ones up to 2008 with undertail exhausts + ABS? What kind of comfortable speeds is good for the VFR to cruise at on NSHW? Is there a need to ride in prone position like the litre sportsbikes?

Actually I'm still very unsure what to get. Sitting on the fence over all the choices! :faint: Prefer the agility and power of a litre sportsbike but want something comfy for my gf. This might be taboo to ask in here, but will you guys choose a Fazer1000N or a Z1000 over the VFR? :p

Fazer = maybe, Z1000 = definitely not. Naked bikes suck on NSHW without the wind protection.

Personally I was looking for the same thing as you, between the 2 I like the Z1000 because of the design, but after reading some sites both locally and overseas site, alot of them had issues with wind blast. So something to consider, if your majority of the ride is city riding, both of these bikes are not bad, for NSHW - a fairing bike is highly recommended.

The VFR was my 3rd choice, but chose it as mine is pre-owened at a very good price and it was well taken care of. Power wise the litre bikes probably are more power packed but you can only see that on the NSHW, in Singapore you have to "siyang"(love) your license, so everyone is equal, but the main thing is to enjoy your ride. Riding posture for the VFR is more sports in nature so you tend to lean forward more than the other two, but unlike true blue sports bike it is still quite ok and comfortable.

Just my personal view.

well, that really depends on ur preference comfort or speed...

Fazer posture is definitely better comfort but naked non-faring high-speed most will prefer VFR.

but speed wise VFR at most max is 250-260 only and cant really cruise well@RPM when V-Tec kicks in which is around 160-180 range

just my non-cents

5th gen are those you see TP /ROV/LTA riding around (1998-2001)

6th gen are those which have the under tail exhaust (2002-now)

How much will you be paying for the Contis? I have been using Michelin Pilot Power tires and they are excellent. For higher mileage, they have the Pilot Road 2 which I have not tried, but have read good reports.
