thanks bro did i make any sense at all with my previous post???? i was actually very bored in the office got nothing to do ahahhah this is what happens when u finished work and got nothing to do for the rest of the day haiiiizzzzzz :pity: :pity: :pity: :pity: :pity:

anyway bout the fc thingy i think the consumption of the vfr is quite ok as was riding a s4 before and the consumption is somewhat silmilar unlike the vara1k my dad got for me which was doing 6kmperlit which was totally ridiculus therefore the reason me looking to vfr then again this is very subjective as when petrol is concerned diff people have diff financial capabilities, thanks for the info though its well appreciated as the advice is ride slower (if you are skinny IF you Fat do the opposite :p :P :p ) and do maintain your machine as its an investment (some people think its their first wife if have wife must take care right :thumb: :thumb: :thumb: :thumb: )

oh well hope to join u guys for outings if i get this vfr so can discuss more on the matter

floppy how much mileage you consume to work on your vfr and how do you get a average of 80-100km average on singapore road???

am just wondering?

RIDERS FOR LIFE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well,Yes and No.

i do agree on tat if you encounter more than average FC(maybe 50-100km drop in mileage),something is not wrong.but with a well maintain bike, one should not have any problems at all.unless you brought a real lemon which only selling will lighten yr burden.

I really nv count till what 14,15,16,17,18 km/l.When i gt the bike,I just top up to the brim of the tank and ride, take note of it when it hit reserve(+-300km)

why do we monitor mileage?

as per vfrT comments,

"The FC of a machine is a good indicator of the condition or state of tune of the machine."

a 50 to 100 km change in mileage = 12.5% to 25% on the bike (assuming max mileage of 400km for ease of calculation). its a sure indication of a dead bike. even 25km to 50km = 6.25% to 12.5% difference. an indication that something may not be quite right

(think of it, why do we monitor voltage changes? it is afterall only a 0.1 to 1v difference?)

i will also highlight the reserve indicator is one of the worst measurement or indication of the mileage of the bike. mine's blink at 270 to 280km which is early by vfr standard. but my mileage remains constant and on par with the rest of vfr i know of.

i can easily cover 50~100km a day. depending on how much i feel like riding ;)

75% of my travelling is on the expressway, averaging about 100km/h.

Wah, Mr James, you can hit +- 300km when it hit reserve. :)

For my daily riding to and fro work, I can only manage to hit about 220km when the last bar "drop" into the "blinking" zone to signal reserve. Somemore it is including when I'm going down hill on the road at Prince George Park (PGP) at NUS, I always clutch in to let the bike roll down the slopy road. I thot it may save some petrol, does it?? heehee... :)

Is there something wrong with my ride then?? :)

my is sure more than 220km,as my buddies Gen2 Fz1 can only reach abt 200km,we will need to plan for the fuel stops for them. When i reach the fuel stops,my indicator always still have abt 2-3 bars left.think i top up abt 18L or lesser.

Past rides are already history....

ok...divert a bit...

anyone of u guys fix other end-cans beside e stock ones ?

if so , is e PC (power commander) necessary ? cos I chck with 1 mech,

1 salesman n 1 bike shop boss , that its not necessary.

If PC is being installed , whats e role in boosting e power ?

btw a check of prices for non-stock end-cans ..

I did tried a PC3 on my former bike(TDM)

As with the aftermarket end cans,I am getting alot of backfires and abnormal FC.

After the tune up and dyno, the hicups are gone and FC back to normal. The drivability(low and mid) of the ride is sooo good...

the best part of PC3 is that you can just download and change mappings like you change underwears, with a laptop.

James,

I like your way of thinking...

Why worry about FC so much? Just ride like you stole it and enjoy the ride more...

True... the viffer is too much fun to ride it sedately too often.

For the rest,

I pillion my wife very often and even with the added weight, my FC does not drop below 16 km/h. Though, the mileage is steadily dropping cos I've yet to change my air filter & plugs after more than 10K of riding. Like vfrT mentioned, it is a good indicator of how your machine is performing and whether parts need to be changed.
