my bike stalls in heavy rain, it is rather ridiculous as the bike is a scrambler. i suspect tt the problem is faulty electrics.

as this wld b a rather time consuming job, i wld like to send the bike to a shop to troubleshoot

r there any shops that will actually help to solve e prob (e.g. testing, etc) rather than just slapping on any convenient quick fix they can think of (that usually doesnt work :sian:)

boring rider. with a boring bike.

Yes, XL's are known for that issue if I'm not wrong. Try drain your fuel and refill with new fuel. Double check your wiring harness. Then update us...

Used to own KTM400 last year. After heavy rain, same prob like you. I drain fuel and refill with new fuel, then after a few starts, can already...

thanks all

immediately after stalling the bike can start immediately with no issue... this shouldnt b due to water in fuel tank right? previously i also tried draining the tank from below, this did not solve the issue and its nt practical to always have to stop the bike n drain the tank in a rainstorm...

e bike is an old bike, around 9 years old coming close to coe... i suppose many things could have gone wrong with the wiring harness...

what in particular should i check with the wiring harness?

It could be alot of things bro. Like carb go in water? Or carb not tuned properly? Cus when heavy rains, our bikes tend to get more cooler right? The part where you top up EO, see whether it's hand tight. Or maybe plugs? Try to do some inspection on your own and yeah, it's and old bike, wiring wise you gotta check if there's any wire's that are loose or have been cut off.

Above infos are from my own experience that I rectified myself. I have been riding scramblers since i passed my 2b. Only last year then I change to street bike. So dun flame me hor... Although some of the steps above are not related to your problems, it's just worth to go one step ahead and check.

Cheers Mate! Update us yeh...

I felt rather strange when riding my Phantom (8 yrs old) through the floods earlier this morning. The thought of an old bike getting stranded there was fresh on my mind for some reason.

It didn't stall or give problems but I kept the revs high just in case!

my motard used to stall in heavy rain occassionally, due to water entering the spark plug.

The stock spark plug cover, was short and not tight. I changed to the red color NGK racing spark plug cover, which was longer and tight.

Since changing it, NO issues with heavy rain.
