nah, new suspension not likely, expensive as well. rebuilding it is the only way. rear shocks are piggyback reservoir types, same as s4.

will defintely be keeping it to retro style, i don't like to mod the bike too much till you can't identify what it is.

but of course, will customise small parts and accessories to my preferences. like the brake calipers, levers, installing a rear hugger maybe.

still deciding on the paint. which is easier to maintain, white or black base paint?

and what bike are you riding now?

February 2011 - March 2012 = Phantom TA 200

March 2012 - August 2013 = Suzuki Impulse 400

Present = BMW (Bus, MRT, Walk)

hello everybody,

roughly what will be the price for a hornet 250 with coe ending 2017?

is 4.5k over-priced?

how much are you all paying for the road tax and insurance?

thank you :D

I'm base paint was pearl white, similar to those on YZF-R1 competition white theme... has that "sparking" effect on the paint. Yes, white are much more difficult to maintain as little little dirt are visible...

about lever, just to bring up that I use those aftermarket type of adjustable lever... one thing I don't enjoy it was the lever width kind of wide... compare to OEM honda lever. Grip wasn't good in my opinion.

I'm considering servicing the brake caliper or bleed the brake fluid... best of all new brake pad, what's ur preference in pad? metallic or semi metallic?

I'm riding 919, a "fat lady" but she "roars"!

2017 COE, back dating it should be a 1997 model...

coming to 20 yrs bike... hmmm the unit looi's selling 2003 model @ 4k.... years on the road is one factor, another key importance was the maintenance of the vehicle.

Basically just look out for damages, functionality must be present, head lamp, signal, speedo, etc... brake, clutch, sound of the engine....

Hi all. Im on a hunt for a 250. But it seems so rare and that makes it more challenging for me cos i love rare beauties. My dad used to ride the 600 before he switched to fjr. So i want to continue his legacy and start small. Hahaha. Anyways i heard the 250 is comparably as powerful as the super4. Correct me if im wrong. But where do i start hunting?? Thanks in advance bros.

Not really bro, some says its comparable, some says power to weight ratio is better.. Both my superfour hit above 200 easily.. So far didnt see any hornet 250 hitting above 200 before.. Dont get mixed up with the old cbr250rr.. See which one suits you more..

not sure about pad choices, but i'll be swapping out the brake lines for stainless steel ones since my ori brake lines have expanded. Let's hope this will be the final thing mechnically on the bike that needs fixing.

@yinghai, did you find the blue hornet at Looi's this time?

He sold me his bike and decided that he desperately needs the bike back after a few weeks.. So i returned him the bike back but he never return me my money.. He keeps bragging about his 4k a month pay.. But have difficulty returning the money back.. He claims he is waiting for his project pay.. Wonder if i should warn the forumers here.. Its been 7 months already.. Still patiently waiting..

Here's some info on Hornet 250 (*http://www.hondahornet.co.uk/250spec.html)

My suggestion was start ur search from here in the sales thread, seen quite a few past sales before and its much easier for you as well. Alternatively, you can drop by some shop and query for the vehicle too.

not sure about pad choices, but i'll be swapping out the brake lines for stainless steel ones since my ori brake lines have expanded. Let's hope this will be the final thing mechnically on the bike that needs fixing.

Haha, no worries you can ride along and change along... maybe you'll find it perfectly good to go?

Nope.. Its difficult to meet him.. Went to his house but he said he was too tired to come to the door and told me, meet over the weekend to discuss about the money... Weekend passed and still he was busy.. Everytime i contact him and talked nicely, he got angry.. Wonder who was supposed to be angry in the first place.. I even reduce the amount alot since he has difficulty paying full... Still its difficult to get back..

Was supposed to get a grey hornet back then.. But ended up buying his bike.. Bad decision..

Just text him awhile ago.. Still waiting for a reply..

i think this guy playing punk liao.

you better be prepared. personally, i would camp and wait till he appears, such an ass does not deserve a bike.

on other areas, wanna ask you something since you seem to be very proficient at electrical stuff.

part of the wiring loom on my bike is exposed. as in the original material covering the insulated wires have rotted away, exposing the insulation. I'm trying to find a way to cover them back up again. Can i use insulating tape and tape them up? am afraid it will be hard to remove when i redo the wiring in future. Or can i just get a hollow plastic tube and slide it over the exposed area?

insulation tape is a cheap way of doing it, another way I seen before was using rubber sleeve but require hot air to shrink the sleeve and it wrap up the wire nicely. But not applicable if both end of the cable are clip with connector, unable to slide the sleeve in.

Yeap, bought a spec 1 from this forum.. The heat shrink tube works best if possible but an electrical tape is more than enough..

Bought new mirrors for the bike, the original mirrors were round and frankly speaking, ahpekish. But it suits its purpose well. got the Super 4 ones since I cannot get my hands on those where the stem connects to the middle of the mirrors, instead of the corner.

Balancers also replaced with new stainless steel ones. Original one was small and reddish, which looks kinda like a dog's erect d1ck sticking out of the side of the handlebars.

Got wheel bearings for the front tyre from KS Motors. 15 bucks for 1 set. quite cheap actually. Unique charges 28 bucks.

Got new visor for my HJC, 30 bucks.

Total damage = 90 bucks.

anyone wants to look for spares in japan can visit goobikes.com. they sell whole bikes and parts as well.

@mild_slevin, just had an idea for cleaning brown exhaust headers. oven cleaner!

some overseas forum have mentioned oven cleaner on hot exhaust works wonders. not sure if i wanna try that first, will see how wd40 and steel wool holds up, if not, oven cleaner it is then.

same my bike original mirror was mickey mouse type mirror, but prev owner change it to Super Four mirror too... after which I change to CB1000R mirror type.

I'm thinking of buying new handlebar set, but it seems like some drilling require to fit in handle controls.

Commercial oven cleaners? Haha I has yet seen it, but willing to try ;p

get the rizoma or renthal handlebar, wider and slightly straigher, gives a better position. might change to that if i still get wrist pains from riding. adjustment of the levers alleviated the problem.
