Im in the quest for rust prevention solution too.. Im also in the quest for paint that is fuel proof other than 2part paint.. Anyway, after years of hunting ive finally found a hornet 250 to work on.. sadly, about a year of coe left thou.. Hopefully the coe goes down soon..

i love the looks of the new cb600...read a few posts back a number of forumers enquiring bout the bike but was suggested getting a cb1000r instead...why is tat so? i believe the former is considerably cheaper than the latter right? and riding a litre bike in sg is abit overkill dont u guys think so?

 

pls do fill me in...im considering between cb600 n xj6 for my next ride...besides following the threads of these two bikes ive not done much research though hehe

i bought Metal Rescue from local importer. will be commencing of rust removal for my fuel tank after paint job is done.

 

let me know if your interested cause the solution can be re used until it turns black.

Remove rust before paintwork.. Or your metal rescue might damage your new paintwork.. Im having overheating issue with my hornet right now.. The light is blinking after 10minutes or so.. I bypassed the fan switch but the light still blinks.. Gonna drain my coolant later midnight.. Is the light supposed to be on before start and goes off after start??

yes. my impulse has the temp light on before i start the bike.

 

in any case, Metal Rescue will not damage paintwork. it only affects rust. seen the video on derusting gas tanks, looks good.

 

so now 1st step is to get the paint job done.

 

did you change the coolant after taking over? my suggestion is to flush with vinegar and water mix 50 50.leave it in there for about 6 hours to allow the radiator to be cleaned out then fill in fresh coolant. 1 bottle of maxima cool aide is good enough. then monitor the temp. do you have the service manual? its available online for download as well.

 

how much you bought your hornet 250 for?

Bought it for 3k only.. Yeap.. My coolant is dry when i flush it.. The coolant sensor is damaged to.. 60 bucks for the coolant..

no wonder la. and why coolant so ex? 1 litre about 20buck if getting maxima. or you mean the sensor?

The shop told me the sensor not working but i Just tested the old sensor and its working perfectly fine just now.. Bought the sensor but havent install.. Think will post it on garage sale.. Got it for 50, not 60.. Typo..

Still struggling with the throttle.. My comet, currently ridden by my brother is in the workshop right now.. Had a minor crash with a taxi again and he refuse to pay for the damage.. Repair fees is 260 only, but he rather let me claim his insurance..

no ****! its a pain allright, especially with inline 4 engines, the whole bank is so big and long.

carb cleaning only need if your bike runs very rough.

 

but is good to do when you just take over to make sure it's not causing any issue.

I clean my carb every year.. No point cleaning every now and then.. I cant find front tyre too.. Im thinking of swapping for a 17inch front rim... Anyone done it??

@yinghai, your front 17 inch very limited choices. i think got a few la, but not much, check with unique motors.

 

you can swap it out with the one from S4. but the whole front end has to be replaced though.

 

if you need more info, check out taiwan forums, the hornet is quite popular there.

Depends on my mood.. Usually i will service myself.. But If im lazy, i will ask my friend to service for me.. I saw one of the youtube videos with the 17inch rim.. Using cb1000 rim..
