Hi all,I'm new to this hornet forum juz got myself a 2004 hornet 919. I was reading a few posts ago that u guys were trying to clean e headers.

With some knowledge from an overseas hornet,I learnt that e headers r made of stainless steel.but it could still rust.

When I bought mine,there were a slight layer of rust right out fr then flanges. Too bad I didn't took pics of before.but I would say e rust was juz on surface n didn't eat into e steel. 1st I use grade 600 abrasive paper,then next wif grade 800. After that it look pretty ok,then I used autosol to polish e headers. Lastly i finished it off wif stainless steel cleaner. Not perfect like new.but still acceptable. Ahhh cool... See if i have the time to do tat... How long u took to get tat kind of shine? Ur 04 model can adjust the front fork?

Yeah mine came wif adjustable forks.if I not wrong,it's e 1st yr wif adjustable forks.

 

It didn't take me long to achieve e shine.abt an hour or so.

Nope.. Im definitely sure its a 250 hornet with the sp tadao carbon twin pipe.. The number plate 3727 if im not wrong.. My bike having difficulty starting now.. Will be changing my pickup coil tmrw.. Hopefully thats the culprit..

Looks like my coolant is leaking everywhere.. Pick up coil change and that didnt kill the problem, found out that i have a wet plug.. Not sure if my head gasket is leaking or my cylinder gasket.. Removing my crankcase breather at the moment to see if the oil in the plugs is engine oil from the head, carbs or airbox/crankcase breather.. Hopefully the cylinder gasket can last till overhaul next year.. If anyone came across the service manual for hornet 250, do let me know... Thanks..

went to service my hornet to cure the starting problem.. Washing and syncronizing the carb doesnt seems to fix the problem at all.. Tested the ignition coil.. Getting about 2.5ohms for both.. Checked the whole wiring loom and fuse.. Cant seem to find any problem.. Now it sounds more like a faulty cdi.. Is there any shop where i can get hold of the cdi and other hornet parts??..

@yinghai, you can try ebay or yahoo japan auctions.

 

i searched before and got a few parts. but you need someone who can order on your behalf. other wise, try Taiwan.

 

last but not least, AH AHN scrapyard. they have tons of parts.

 

even has parts for my impulse. i went there and got the air cleaner cover, mainstand and signal lamps, he still has the entire engine cases and tailboard available.

its withnin an industrial compund, so once you go in, just go straight and look for a sticker saying 5J and ride into that alley. you will not miss it.

I need the service manual.. Im using the cbr250rr mAnual now.. My 03 hornet cdi is the flat pin type.. Most hornet using the round pin.. Check with my honda supplier, he only got the round pin.. Taiwan same.. Aftermarket cdi also round pin.. Ah ann also have the round pin..

Maybe u r riding the PI hornet... Can only be purchased from japan... Anyway i hve yet seen a 250 wit twin pipe...

Unique motorsports and Motovation carries the pipes. i think 2k-3k for full system.

 

anyway to change the cdi? splice out the wires and reconnect to the round pin CDI?

sounds like the hornet is on its way to being restored.

 

have you tried revving it. 16k rpm, would be a shame to not hear that screaming engine.

using aftermarket digital dash now.. Dash only show till 14rpm if im not wrong... So i cant really tell the rpm above that.. City riding around 4-5rpm..

Attempting to buy a cdi from japan.. Hopefully these japanese understand english.. They had one in stock.. But a used one.. Claimed to be tested in good working condition.. If not, will need to get my jap friend to buy and mail it, provided she got time..
