Hi guys just bought a Hornet 900. Am curious how is the spare part availability or where i can get any spares? Boon Siew? Any recommended mechs that specialize in this bike? thanks for your time

Spares you can try fjt, Chong aik etc you can buy parts from them. Not to worry parts still readily available, oldest hornet around is 2002 model and youngest is 2006. Which model you bought for yourself? Servicing wise, my prev owner service in unique Motorsport whereas I head to bikewerks. This baby base on old cbr 919, it seems that most mech able to handle it well. U definitely love this ride a lot!

I believe there's separate cleaner for carb (http://www.stp.com/products/fuel-additives/fuel-injector-and-carburetor-treatment/), about all these cleaner I'm kind of skeptic if I should threw them in my engine worrying if it would create unnecessary problem?

I read somewhere in the thread some fellow rider recommend Teflon base chain spray. From his demonstration it seems to be very lasting n no fling. After several km with it clearly seems that no foreign materials stick all over the chain.

Never use the cleaner before, other stp product like octane booster definitely wont work.. you can try motoworld for the batteries.. i got mine from the forum..

Ok your batteries fit without any problem?

the rust occured because i didnt ride the bike for 3 weeks. and it was the rainy season, so the condesation under the bike cover caused the rust to appear.

i keep my chain regularly lubed and ridden so no rust will appear. so long as its left stationery for more than 1 week, i think rust will somehow form.

my hornet 900 has only one problem . The rear shock is totally leaked out and busted. Was thinking if i should pay 280 to service it, however its not guranteed to last. The second would be to buy a new stock shock which i dont know where to get. And the third would be to get the ohlins shock.Any recommendations>?

The guy from Boon Siew said the stock shock would cost around 800. I paid 840 for simple Ohlins a couple of months ago. On stock you can only change preload, Ohlins preload and rebond dumping. Besides, Ohlins is supposed to be easily rebuildable, so if it is busted the cost of service may be lower

i think your problem was because you use fuel with too low octane rating. did you check the manual, whats the minimum ron petrol the hornet 919 can use. with an engine from the CBR, i expect minimum of ron 95 or 97.

March 2012 - August 2013 = Suzuki Impulse 400

No idea, but I always pump 95 and on off V-power.

Btw, something different when I pump V-power for 3 tanks.

1. when using 95, my mileage average around 225 to hit reserve

2. 1st full tank of v-power, mileage 200+ to hit reserve

3. 2nd full tank of v-power, mileage 210+ to hit reserve

4. 3rd full tank of v-power, mileage 220+ haven reach reserve

hmm, some minor differnece in fuel consumption is normal. cause we dont pump to the same level all he time.

suggest you use an app to calculate mileage.

for my bike, is around 23-24km/l.

March 2012 - August 2013 = Suzuki Impulse 400

My fc max 26km/l.. never go more than 70km/h when i ride... but another hornet owner claims 30km/l in his sales thread.. wonder how they get 30-35km/l?? Or isit just marketing gimmick??

some of the giant NTUC mall did sell STP products. For our bike the lowest octane value we could go is "91", mean to say all the available fuel in singapore can be fed into CB900F. At first I start off with "95" but subsequently I go for "98" all the way.
