When you bought the bike, you just go there point and say you want to get the bike? Did u try starting or listening to the engine? Now wht is the prob they say?

Cannot move? Cannot start? Don't trust the mech and overhaul. Bring to a reputable shop. Then if the mech say need to overhaul then do so.

recommend Planet Motor Cycles @ Ubi as their overhaul is pretty much done in your face - they take the thing apart ASAP with the intention to show you what's wrong personally, and then put it back together within the day.

I spoke to Ah Chong (the chief there) and he says he aims not to keep any bikes overnight if possible.

He's the most honest and knowledgeable mech. I've seen.

for SP can try bikers paradise at kaki bukit industrial park (need to check the address, check under CMO section for a thread started by sandyanne)... the mech (andy) is very good with SP's, i think close to 80% of their customers are SP riders...

price is a slightly more expensive than other shops but the workmanship is worth it and he uses original parts too (please refer to my signature)... mech is honest, friendly and very knowledgeable about SP...

can contact andy at 83093166

Cheap + fast = no good

Cheap + good = not fast

Good + fast = not cheap

now i juz wanna ask how long should i Run in first or is it follow by distance??

Yep take it easy for at least the first 1500km for the piston rings and other new parts if any to wear in,

but don't just loaf around at 60kph, it does the ring sealing no good. Run through the revs gradually, keep changing gears and use more engine braking. The vacuum helps to create a better ring seal.

Try not to run in with synthetic oil, use mineral and change it often (like, every 500km).

Ride 2 bikes of the same model, one with "hard" break in and the other manual recommended ah pek mode, the one broken in hard will have noticeably superior power and efficiency.

Just be sure to warm up the engine before you start exercising, to let the oil get up to full flow rate, it's almost just like when exercising yourself.

Since we are talking about overhaul, i need to ask a few stuff.

What exactly is overhaul? Disassemble the engine, replace piston rings and other 'replacables'. Clean the inside. If need to replace, they will replace.

What are the replacables? Any else to share? I never overhaul before.

Havent destroyed this bike but from what I know, replace piston rings, all gaskets, maybe inspect timing chain and tensioner and replace if needed, decarbonise, replace any worn components, do valve clearance etc etc.

There is "top overhaul" (block, piston and valves only) and full overhaul (gearbox and clutch included).

The former costs $380 for class 2B at planet, for the second one... ahem, rather get new secondhand bike :D

What's done is done. I recommend you go to better shops next time anything wrong or u need to service.

i depends on what you have to do also actually.

asked around normally when the word overhaul comes to place is they quote $200 - $300.

but this is only replacing of piston, from wad i experience.

but if you have to change conrod but not the piston is $300 - $400

but if u change piston conrod block, i guess getting a new bike is a wiser option.

*they = Unique,Heng moto, Republic moto, brother moto and small shops at Yew tee Industrial park.
