@Kenny - Ya we saw you get left behind and ah cai and i waited in front at the junction of middle road to make left turn... We turned when we saw you coming to rejoin the convoy but you went straight instead.

Anyway, it is unfortunate there was such an incident. Hopefully it can be resolved with a friendly discussion. hope to see you again next time.

I had also overheated my front brakes during the long convoy run

Better get your brakes checked bro! Is it to the extent that the heat is so high that your brake fluid vaporised, resulting in almost zero braking power? Then again, one to two minutes of not using the brakes will cool it down back to a liquid and you will get your brakes back again. Unless there are serious air bubbles or water in your brake lines and reservoirs, then it will take longer.

Hmm nothing wrong with the brakes, they are as sharp as ever :3

That's just me setting artificial limits by making mechanical excuses - if I've done a maximum effort from say, 10.30pm - 11.45pm then anytime after that I will limit myself to such as, 20% power, no hard maneuvering, dislike getting into situations that require hard braking, etc. I'll just tell myself, engine temperature high, brakes overheated, etc. Kind of like flying an airplane with simulated systems failure :p

Becomes an exercise of binary logic later - should I risk X maneuver, yes/no - decide based on predicting what kind of situation I'm in next. More interesting when leading the convoy - what will the rear end sweeper encounter if I make a certain move? If I commit myself to a speed increase, when should I back off so the guys can form up in time for the next turn or lane change?

Hope that explains my die-hard attitude of short duration outings only: If I can't think ahead I'm as good as reacting to conditions imposed by the road and other motorists, and that is not worth risking.

@PK: So much consideration for a lepak ride, responsible leader. Ten Thumbs Up!

Then you are not pushing your bike to its limits. I find that a machine is like your body. You got to push it over the limit. I know that a TA200 can do much better than that. Haha.

Anyway, regarding the convoy leader, in my opinion, he must have the most discipline of everyone. He must take into consideration of the other bikes in the convoy (conyor), especially if there is a one and only made in china 125cc bike heavy loaded with cute Magical Fuel Penguinsâ„¢ and a cbr150 (Mobile Recycling Centre) with a pillion in the convoy.

Question: How do you know where the limit is?

Answer: When you're over the limit.

Do what you like with your own ride, but I'd say don't tell others to follow.

He who hesitates is lost!

Yup, that's very true. Everyone is responsible for their own safety.

But I must admit, I toned my riding style down by quite a bit because of a few incidents in the past. 3 sport bike riders (on 3 separate occasions) have crashed while trying to keep up with me, even though we were not riding in a convoy. In some inexplicable way, I did feel bad for them. Now when I am travelling in a group without convoy rules (own time; own target, just get to the next destination), if I realise that someone is tailing me, I'll still ease off on the throttle and go easy.

Sometimes egos can get in the way of sensible riding, and it takes every rider to do their part.

For the ride from Downtown East to Chinatown, both my girlfriend's and my Aprilia were already severely overheating due to the pace we were keeping. Our thighs were getting seared and our temperature readings were almost through the roof. We had to ride home at full throttle to cool down. But in the group, certain unspoken rules need to be adhered to for the safety of the group.

Just my 2 cents... :D

Believe nothing you hear; and only half of what you see.

Do or do not; there is no 'try'.

Then you probably should wheelie once a while to expose your oil sump to the windblast, better cooling effect.

Hi guys and gals,

been reading your posts and find it very interesting that there are quite a no. of local places that can go for riding especially those off the usual travel routes. Hope all don't mind me tagging along. Hopefully, your younger group could accept a 30+++ rider tagging along.

Another question, I keep hearing Planet Motors being mentioned for some maintenance and stuff, are they good at tuning carburetors?

:dot:TRUST is good,CONTROL is better,

ever heard of MECHANICAL FAILURE?:help:

Chong can more of less do everything. Think you could go down take a look, definitely he'll get it done up.
