It is a semi syn after all. Hydrocracked, hydroprocessed, all means semi syn base. Same as Conoco.

wah seh... i dun really understand but... considering 10 bucks from unique motorsports selling at 20++... its a better deal.. lol...

Not Unique's fault, they just following what OWS recommended to sell at.

Semi syn is semi syn, they just using a marketing term to call it 'synthetic'. It very common nowadays, so you won't know what you are getting unless you stick to the well established high performance brands.

not quoting unique at fault actually... but just doing a comparison... since both their prices are displayed in forums...

without people like you, we wont even know its semi or fully synt.. cos the packaging isnt amatuer friendly... however, i'm already doing what you said.. stick to the established brands... both Motul and Maxima on my list.. :cheeky:

p.s. time to edit your signature... all your links dun work.. ;)

Ok, here's a lesson in reading in between the lines, taken direct from OWS website http://www.ows-germany.com/lubricanta.html

On the 10W40 "hydrocrack" (which is what we're seeing here for the bikes)

OWS 10W40 Multilight is a high performance light running HC synthetic engine oil designed for use in modern Japanese & European engines with tight tolerances. Turbo proven and possessed brilliant performance & fuel economy qualities.

On the 5W50 (which is much more expensive)

OWS 5W50 is a high performance 100 % Synthetic engine oil that is developed for the modern high powered multivalve Japanese and European engines. Turbo tested and proven, providing excellent protection under extreme conditions.

So is it possible that OWS can make a "more synthetic" than synthetic 10W40? For those who are familiar with what hydrocrack is, it is obvious that it is a semi syn from a pure performance standpoint. Google hydrocrack, plenty of info.

u would prefer semi synthetic or fully synthetic?

I believe there are lotsa brands to choose.

1)OWS

2)Maxima

3)Fuchs Silkolene

4)Motul

5)Yamalube

These are the main ones which are suitable for cubs.

our bike recomended in 10 w 40

the ratings are the viscosoty, which means the thickness.

10w40 is thinner, so u have to change EO faster but its very smooth.

i have seen 20w50 but havent tried tat yet though

for a start, try this..

Motul 5100 Semi Synthetic 15W50... its around 13-15 bucks...

if you're lazy to track mileage, change monthly or every 2 months.

if you're hardworking to track mileage, change every 1500 - 2000km (semi synt)

fully synthetic ones lasts slightly longer usually... 2500-3500...

no lah... why say can use semi only? i never say wot... semi is just nice for cubs... cos not too ex... and yes, fully synt oils feels smoother and lesser vibrations.

the brands are listed above already... Personally, i've tried Motul 300V 10W40 ($23-25)... Maxima Extra 15W50 ($21-23)... fully synt ones...

I think semi syn will do OK in a cub too. The Maxima Synblend 10W40 is getting increasingly popular for its lighter feel. The Synblend 20W50 is a thick and durable oil, but may be a little heavy on cold mornings.

Posted

Yeah, to be since u would like to try engine oils.

I would suggest to you Unique Motorsport's OWS Package.

Basically, they would give you an OWS Irridium Spark Plug (One of the best).

and a Bottle of OWS 10W40 Engine Oil. For Oil filter, it depends, one time

change one time dun change.

Anione noes the quality of the SPC oils?? Juz wanna noe whether our local oils does well in cubz and mopedz......Cheerx
