I've been using Timberland waterproof range of shoes for years nw n IMO they are very gd even in the heaviest dwnpour n are normal daily shoes as well.however being normal shoes they do get worn especially near the toes side where u change gears. Currently I'm using the Timberland Pro boots range, mine with composite toe. So far i rate them excellent apart frm being waterproof they also provide extra safety. However the Pro range is not available in Sg,I bought them frm Amazon n they provide shipping to Spore at US$18 per pair.got mine below SG$200 plus shipping and they r super comfy due to the Powerfit system(feels like wearing sports shoe hehe). Hope tis helps...

My Forma boots just fell apart after less than a year. Previously was Sidi, also same result.....and before that other riding boots. Now, I think it's time to give military boots a try. Bought this from Beach road Magnum spider 8.1 side zip today. Looks good when wearing it. Tried it on the way back home. Feels comfortable with sufficient flex to change gears. Good for walking too. Very light. Now waiting to test it in the rain.

Bought it for $180 and the guy told me waterproof. Surfed the net and confirm that not waterproof....can stand light rain. At home, I did a closer inspection of the boots andthe lower part where the sole and leather meets should be good but the mesh coverings.......anyway, I've sprayed the mesh area with Scotchgard heavy duty water repellent. Hopefully, this will work.

btw, there are various versions and some are stated waterproof but not avail in S'pore.

Other than the possible problem with the waterproofness of the boots, it's a great pair of boots. Soles are like athletic shoes, very comfortable and quiet; it's also oil/water skid resistance; can walk/run in rain. Not too hot as it's mesh mat'l wicks away sweat. it's also looks good when I tried the boots, goes very well with jeans....might even can use for formal pants.....but yet to try. I got the one with side-zip for convenience....easier to remove/put on the boots. From riding perspective, easy to change gears as the boots can `flex'. Boots also very light...and there is a patch cover on the tongue...thus, can hold the end on the laces in there....so will not get caught in the chains accidently.

The shop also carry another model called Stealth but the boots looks like workboots...totally look like construction type of boots...really CMI if u wish to wear for outings....but is $30 cheaper. btw, fyi, the front toe area can hve those steel caps, like safety boots.....but will cause more.

In summary, personally, the boots seems to provide sufficient protection in a crash(touch wood) for a average rider like me, it looks good enough for outings but can handle rough handling.

Only time will tell whether the boots can last.....but my impression so far on this boots are good with the exception of the waterproof matter.

p/s: One last thing, During braking, I can `feel' how hard I'm putting the pressure on the brakes....

Ok, after applying the water repellent, did a shower test(since no rain last few days). After few minutes full blast of water on the boots, feel the upper area where the denier is getting a little damp. Impression is tat in light rain...no issues but in heavy rain, water will seep thru. Thus, this model is really not water proof...more like water resistance only.

Any waterproof and comfortable shoes for office wear for riding>?

haven't come across one yet. most waterproof boots are slightly stuffy under non-riding conditions. better to buy a pair of riding boots you like, and leave a pair of office shoes in your office and change into them.

anyone using the Alpinestars SMX-2 riding boots? was told its water resistant.

does that mean it is able to withstand moderate rain? dont have to be heavy downpour though..

Any rider using this model? The price you bought at?

Yeah.. Used to wear it for 2 yeard till it almost gave up.., there is 2 type. One is waterproof while the other one is non waterproof.. I used the non water proof and it did repel light drizzle of rain.. But only for a short period of time. Prolonged water contact will only get your socks wet and would make it smell!!

Yes it does look nice.. But even for the water proof type i would nit recommend it as the front sole is thin and wear off easily..

I am wearing now is Alpinestar ridge.. Bought at just $140 not at regina if you're asking.. Have been using for 1 year and the sole is still thick!!!

Is it a better water resistant pair of boots compared to SMX-2?

I'm also thinking of getting a pair of riding boot which can protect my feet and at the same time can manage riding in moderate rain condition without wetting my feet inside. I know many would recommend goretex but they are mostly beyond my budget:(

Did try to submerge in a puddle of water up to ankle level and yet my feet remain dry.. Never had any rain seeping in before. It's cheap and looks like a TP boots but only shorter and it looks like a normal shoe when wearing with a jeans or maybe i did not care what people say haha.. I bought it when it was on offer. Btw shop in Singapore is selling at 300sgd for ridge and 350sgd for smx2

I see... I shall check out Regina again. They last quoted me $300 for SMX-2. I wonder if we have more people here to buy together will they offer us a better price. 😜Hahaha

There is someone out there for me

I know there is someone out there

I know she is waiting so patiently yeah

Can you tell me her name?

(Somebody tell me her name)

This life-long search is gonna drive me insane

How does she laugh?

How does she cry?

What's the color of her eyes?

Does she even realize I'm here?

Where is she? Where is she? Where is she?

Where is this beautiful girl?Who is she? Who is she?

Who is gonna complete my world?

i'm using TCX Jupiter 2, it has a subdued style. Relatively 'airy'. Rode it through heavy rain, and walked through large puddles, it's waterproof for me. Only thing is the sole has lost it's grip on wet and oily surfaces, usual wear and tear I suppose. It was pretty grippy when it was new. Have it almost a year now, but my 'wear & tear' is minimal cuz I don't walk around all that much in it. I swop shoes when at work.
