yes but at most 1-2k difference, but if u goin to pay instalment for 4-5yrs per say, your monthly wont be alot different, as in if u buy a bike that is 2k more expensive let say...ur mthly will be like 45bucks higher. so if your loan is going to be long u wont feel that much difference. Thus what i'm trying to advise is... buy a bike that u like more and want to ride, if the buying price is not too far off from each other. But also, more importantly my advice is to buy something that does not become a heavy burden to u. cheers`

very wise words. thats why i probably buy when i grad from uni and have more $$ and less expenses to take care of.

btw, for buying a new bike, would it be advisable to pay in full or take a loan? what is the minimum number of years to take loan and roughly what % of the bikes costs must be made in deposit?

i guess there are pros and cons to paying in full. if for any reason you would like to sell the bike, most ppl cant afford to pay you in full and have to find their own refinance. thats one of the reasons why im asking about loans although i'll probably wish to pay in full if i could.

grad frm uni, u straight away got a $20k tuition loan to repay! costs as much as a new bike already.

anyway, minimum number of yrs & wat % to take loan, these kinda things are subjected to each person's financial situation and cash flow at that point in time.

as well as personal preference.

dont think there is a correct answer, to ur question..

but some advice will be dont take too high a loan for too long a time, if not the bikeshop will be laughing their way to the bank.

if u rich, go ahead n pay in full.

Max installmens i know is 5yrs, 5% interest per yr.

Min yrs u can decide but not more than 5 yrs.

Deposit varies amount different bike shop, some require $2000, some require the amount to cover ur insurance, but dp as much as u can is more ideal as it lowers ur loan amount.

wat i saw some bike shop can loan 7 years.. coz at sell bike session some seller put 'remain 66 x ### mths...':bouncefire:

anyway how long n how much to loan one must plan very careful.. paying more installment to cut less on the duration den have to 'starve' later... maybe after buy the bike can tahan the first 3-6 months but how bout the subsequent months to come.? :weep:.. think wisely..

reputable bike shops usually dun recommend more than 5 yrs due to the high interest the rider gotta pay, unless the bike shop wanna scam u on a high interest due to long installment period and early settlement fees.

Does majority still ride their bikes after their installments???

i doubt so:gun:

loan for more than 5yrs???

u are still not ready n fianancially stable to afford.

i dun think it wud really matter as both will not be accurate to ur bike settings. But characteristics of setup of a map that is close to ur bike will help but not accurate. Actually that's what bike shops here do...take a map that is as close to your bike settings and tweak to suit it. To really do a custom map from scratch will take at least a day or more...i think instead of deciding whether euro or us, better see if characteristics of settings matches more towards ur bike. Cos both euro and us map will still have different temperature settings than our tropical weather when they are mapped out. just an opinion. cheers`

Don't be surprise. i have met ppl who take 7yrs loan. some ppl will go to such extend to own something. Be it peer pressure, reputation, etc etc. Even some who have young children to bear. Bike shops just do what they do best, business. In business, it's just business. But of cos some bikeshops if u know them long enough they will advise u on certain things, but the customer still decide what's best for him/her. if there's business to be made, shops will still carry out as per normal.

Back to the topic of loans, in my opinion, pay full cash is gd, u don't pay extra interests. if anyone could afford full cash, they would. if u need to take loan, down at least 1/3 of the cost and dun take too long of a loan. like some said earlier, max 5yrs. if lesser the better...less interest as well. but at the same time u have to balance what u can afford monthly versus loan period.

yo bro red rose... any suggestion for venue???

from experience, anywhere but yishun dam will do. we used to meet at kkfc last time. most times we meet straight at the supper places, cos we all know each other already. if you guys dun know each other yet, and i'm seeing many new gixxers eager to meet, then u can try a normal bikespot gather like kkfc. then from there u all can ride for supper somewhere. don't go yishun dam unless all of u guys are non dark-side riders....meaning everything legal. cheers`

Dont worry larx...It's meant to be like this...Probably a safer solution than when u crank without the compulsory clutch in only to find ur bike surging forward and then dropping becos of some kids engaging ur bike into gear 1 and u fail to take notice of it..

hm, i got something to ask also. if a gsxr 600 is roughly 20k, how come i see most people selling their 3 yr old bike for around 14k? i feel that is quite ex cos if u divide 20k by the 10 years coe, each year is worth 2k. so coe left 7 yrs is in fact 14k. but must factor in the fact that it is second hand, wear and tear, i feel depreciation should not be calculated on this straight line basis alone. for a 3 yr old bike, prob 11-12k is more reasonable.

or is there any reason that the depreciation is so minimal for the 600cc sportbikes? i've noticed the same trend in other makes like the cbr 600. cos it definitely is much worse for lower cc bikes. after 3 years, some can drop by 40% in value alr.

Cos now the market rate for brand new bikes is higher thus it determines how much the 2nd hand can be sold for..

By the way, the price is from a private deal or bikeshop??

yeap, i agree.

or not, save some more before getting a bike, or else maintenance comes in also cannot afford then jialat

i would have more cash on hand to down a higher deposit.

it will be much better to down watever u can afford, less interest to pay

In order to start my bike, i have to clutch in to start.

The starter doesn't start if i dun clutch in.

What is happening. Battery is new.

its a safety feature by all suzuki bikes.

its the clutch-in start switch.

u can remove the switch so tat u can start the bike straight away but make sure u are in neutral gear.

Make sure u are not under any warranty from agent or else it will void warranty if the switch if tampered or removed.

haha im more surprised at the lower interest rates of gixxers compared to others like cbrs! haha

interest rates varies among different shops:sian:

or is there any reason that the depreciation is so minimal for the 600cc sportbikes? .

depending on the mods tat is on the bike n whether u like or u appreciate the mods or not, maintenance of the bike by previous owner is very impt too.

from ym point i think bike depreciation is abit diff with car.

anyway, its not on straight line basis. 2 me u cannot divide according to the total amount exp20k/10 as at the end of 10 years whn the bike coe die. owner renew at $1400 sell the bike at $1400??? there is value even if there is no more coe left. like vespa sprint, i guess u shld include the acces?

i understand there is a few way to calculate depreciation eg, straight line, sum of the years digits, declining balance, acrs, erta and many more, however it is base mostly on market value and how the shop are selling the bike.

to addrest ur concern for 600cc, as it is a bike which seems impossible for working purpose(i have seen R1 at bukit merah sending mc delivery) and have affordable fees like maintenance and other think, and is powerful compare to most of the bike in sg. that is why it is popular and depreciation is minimal.
