What will happen if i canvas my bike while its still very hot?Any problems?Thks :dot:

1) You risk melting your canvas

2) You risk material "sticking" to your exhaust header and pipe.

3) You risk overheating the engine. Imagine you try to trap all that heat in your canvas.

Try not to canvas completely if the bike is very hot, while I doubt the engine would become Chernobyl and melt itself down even in the hottest of hot bikes (like an R1), the heat trapped around the engine bay for long periods of time won't be healthy in the long run.

While the bike is moving there is airflow to dissipate heat from the cylinder(s), exhaust system, radiator (if any) etc, but in a static situation under the 'canvas oven' the heat will just conduct or radiate onto neighbouring parts...

It may also be vanity but I don't like ending up with a hot fuel tank.

If you need to canvas a hot machine, just lift up the side of her skirt for a couple hours :p

Same, I canvas my bike rite after ride as well.. I bet most would just canvas it straight after ride than waiting till the bike has cool down.

Hmmm so far mine as has yet "melted", shall keep observing... (*depends on the type of canvas material)

Sticking to exhaust? If your bike equip with center up exhaust that's no worries... header part shall keep an eye, unless the wind are continuous in a single direction, pushing the canvas towards header? (*where we park also play a little part)

Hmmm, to me I find that overheating not quite an issue, since the engine has cut off (*no longer generating heat), canvas kind of like "preserving" the heat (*like pizza in pizza bag) but again since the source of heat no longer around the engine and exhaust would slowly cool down to atmospheric temperature. But in this case at a much slower rate than those without canvas. I quite like it cause after I return to my bike an hour later, I can easily start up and warm up the vehicle at the shortest time.

-Again will monitor if it contributes to other damages like plastic, paint etc...

I'm using :

MFizz Bike canvas (Sliver) cost @ SGD18 *courtesy of LAB

#black canvas 3SGD cheaper than sliver canvas

bike is a machine without soul, rider would inject new life and character to this machine

Just beware of the canvas sticking to the exposed end can for some bikes. I know of a poor bloke whose canvas melted and stuck on his end can.

Other than that, Oxford canvas are great for rain cover!
