Cyclop, GS1200, Koma, PL, RT and GSGABES, pls contribute, I am keen on 4 valves as well.

Oh man, u know I now nothing abt all this technical stuff. Don't want to give any wrong comments. What I can say is, I love my bike, I like the way it looks, I like the way it handles, I like the rides. And it's a 4 vv....err...right? LOL And u seems to be looking for GS, mine is RT.

One thing I do agree with SDR is the support. Too bad for ppl like us, support kinda sucks...u never feel really satisfied with service provided or explanations given. I have a slight feel that they just want to get it over with, or bluff their way through. I'm disadvantaged by my lack of knowledge. But the bike is awesome! :thumb: as long as there's nothing wrong....

tt's the bike that won darkar race in 1988?

It's a shame tt the present darkar race bike is not using injection, they are using the old BING carb.

Anyway, think no 1 will sell that bike, saw 2 times in Singapore and a R100GS and 1 time GSPD, the R100GS (Black) and PD was in superd condition, guess the owners wont sell them. Understand the last asking price was S$15k for the PD (but was told that that wasn't the original PD), now, may be more expensive as many new GS riders told me that they wish to own the old GS.

I know there's a very superd condition R100RT built in 1995 in spore, but I don't know owner, do u know, if u do, pls kindly ask him if he is interested to let go.

If possible, I would like to hv the 3 of them, tt's R100GS, R100RT and my present bike - R100R. I still love the old bikes. I missed the chance of owning a K1 bcos of $2k (i was willing to offer highest @ $14k), Perfection Motor sold to a German Uncle @ $16k about 3-4yrs ago. I regret till today.

hmm...sdr i tink the gspd is the 1 owned by micheal fong the author of a Tankful of time

Totally agree with your point. Humans are very hard to please, even good friends.

As far as i am concerned. As long as I'm happy and love what I'm doing... no one or no thing can stop me.

Well, IMHO People mock u for paying $40K for a bike becos they are subconciously jealous and envious. People scorn you for being anti-social after buying such a bike because they are bascially shallow. They do not understand you as a sincere friend. Instead material ownership is judged. Sooo common in the Singapore's biking community... and it is sad really. o_O

Whose bike can reach top speed first lah, who's bike pick up better lah, whose bike more expensive lah, whose bike has many accessories lah, Why small bike is joining us for a trip lah. Its Endless...... endless conflicts.....:faint:

So just be ourselves cos we cant please everybody....:help:

Sorry Guys!Have been monitoring this thread for quite sometime and I think your thoughts about the whole matter has been manipulated...I represent the 'frens' that has been mentioned, and here is our views on these.

Basically,I need you guys to touch your heart and ask yourself honestly,is it worthwhile to keep a fren who swears to turn your career topsy-turvy just because of some matters that can't be agreed on a personal level?(Matter started at a kopitiam session)I believe all personal disagreements have to be kept at that level. Why involve career?

As for the comment about we being jealous, pls,I think you guys are mistaken.FYI information,we are professionals in our early 30's and earning enough to support a family,a bike and also a car. It's just that we do not want to sit around wif someone who speaks BMW,breathe BMW and spit BMW all the time.We are all riders having ridden BMW and Japanese bikes alike and I believe we are entitled to comment.Does that mean that we have to agree that BMW is the best bike just because it cost more?Honestly, the machine handles well if tweaked properly(thanks to the telelever/paralever) but other than that it's similar to any other Japanese bike available in the market. In fact BMW is an easier bike to DIY on given the simplicity of the design.

To me it's relatively simple, whack the bike, push it hard and you will know what I mean.Owning the bike but keeping it under wraps does not make you a technical expert nor evaluator on that particular bike. But then again,if your pockets permits your indulgence and feeds your inclination towards an ego-boosting brand name, why not?

To the rest of the guys in the forum, enjoy your ride on the BMW.....anyway,take cues from the guys from ADVriders.BMW bikes are built to be thrashed and ridden hard.

Hey, everyone is entitled to their own opinion on which bike is better.

It's ok if you don't agree with us, just don't be sarcastic towards us just because u don't agree with us.

"I think BMW bikes are too expensive to maintain" - this is OK

"Whoa you got sooo much money to buy a BMW bike uh? Very rich uh. U stupid uh get such expensive bike? With the money u spent, I can buy 2 R1 leh! So now too paiseh to ride with us who don't own BMW already, is it?" - how would u feel?

Ppl who has owned BMW bikes before, I believe they won't even behave this way towards others. It's ppl who doesn't know, but still judge ppl and make unpleasant comments that makes us feel....uncomfortable.

U know Koma, if you notice why I haven't given any comments to all the 'suggestions' u posted here, it's because I don't really like the 'modified' look. Somehow or rather, I just prefer stock version.

But hey, it's YOUR bike :thumb:

Dear SDR,

I totally agree wif you. Each individual has their own opinions over the type of bikes that they ride and they have specific reasons as to why they own their beloved stallions. As matured riders,we should take people's comments with a pinch of salt and not fuel any unnecessary arguements.

The point is I don't see why we should hem and haw over trivial issues.

In fact, nobody called anybody stupid. Some people just commented that it is just crazy to be spending that kinda money over a bike.Anyway,it's just a casual remark. Why take it seriously? There are at least a few dozen people out there who spent hundreds of thousand of dollars on cars.Does that make them stupid?

I am not frustrated and never depressed.I am an easy going person and that's why I need to clear some misunderstandings.I myself have ridden the BMW and quite pleased with the performance although a little slow for an 1100.Everybody is entitled to voice their views, right?Dun tell me you gonna be pissed with me for saying the BMW is a little slow? Some facts just have to be accepted.

I strongly believe that all misunderstandings started from miscommunication between two parties.Messages conveyed thru a 3rd party might have been edited with the actual facts and added with something more interesting. We are human beings afterall. It is always wise to meet up and and solve the problem rather than posting in forums and sending nasty SMS and emails.

As for knowledge derived from books and magazines,I agree that that is the cheapest alternative to owning something to evaluate and at the same time enhances your knowledge. But that does not mean that once you read a book on medicine you can practice as a doctor right? No offence, but some people can talk as if the medicinal world starts from them. All I am asking is to be considerate about other bikers who are not riding BMW's when they are around.I can understand the excitement of getting a new toybut they will not understand what are telelever/paralever and will never be interested coz it's absent from their bikes. We are bikers afterall and who knows that one fine day we may need each other on the road.Whatever bikes,it's still has got two wheels.

I rest my case......Cheers brudder!

:D

I tot I am the most frustrated bike owner but you seem like a very depressed and frustrated man. Don't worry, I am like that whenever my bikes break down.

There's no perfect bike for all riders, but there's alway a perfect bike in every1's heart. I am a proud owner of a 2 valve and a Yamaha SDR200, both are COE bikes, slow and cheap. so, you might wonder why this stupid guy is so proud of owning something so useless, a very simple reason, because I like them. We can't value things by figures and I strongly believe majority of the BMWs' as well as HDs' owners or whatsoever are not proud, if some Beemer didn't wave at you or talk to you, please be more open minded and try not to jump to conclusion that they are proud, they may be tired, sleepy, bad mood or whatsoever. If some1 always talked about BMW, guess he is just too excited about his bike and you may want to call this passion. I strongly believe he will never condemn other brands. Am I rite?

Last year, I met a black Diversion900 owner @ Sembawang Petrol Kiosk. I tot to hv conversation with him as I like Diversion900 but before I could speak, he asked me : "why buy a BMW, it's slow, high maintenance and spare parts are expensive". Then he moved off. I was telling myself, it could be - 1) his intension was to demoralise me bcos he was jealous OR 2) he may have own 1 b4, knowing it's not wise to own it and HE just want to contribute his humble opinions but was rushing home for dinner.

A coin has 2 faces, so is everything around us. Be more open-minded and your life will be easy and happy.

Believe in yourself, don't believe what others says - I read a lot of car/bike/electronic gadgets magazines, simple reason; I can't afford all, so it is the cheapest way to know them. 1 thing I know is not to fully trust the testers' word, he may be given KOPI $ by certain manufacturers, who knows. Get whatever you think are best. We are just riders - man on 2 wheels.

Hey SDR, lets get on with our fun  so how s the Sssss coming along

;) Have u met the owner yet ? If not we give u some more poiSon poiSon poiSon :clapping:

I am immune, so I can read everything and see everyone getting poisoned... hehe...

Secondly, friends should be those who respect your decisions, share your joys and woes. If they scorn you or discriminate you, they are not worth spending time with...

Thirdly, biking is a passion... jap bikes, BMWs, Italian beauties, all are beautiful machines... hehe...

So lets just treat all the discrimination and comments positively and spend more time riding...
