Hi all. Does anyone encounter problem with the DRZ 400SM speedometer? I changed mine to Visor (brand) years ago and it is now giving problem. Even change to a new battery last week, it sometimes reset in time and milleage, sometimes just show blank display. Anybody has any solution? Much appreciated!!

Does the speedo itself have a battery?

Yes, speedo has a battery. It's CR2035 or something. Correction. The speedo brand is Vapor.

Aiya. Lol. No wonder the name sounds funny.

Yep. Check the battery cos that does happen

Errr, shouldn't be the battery. Have consecutively changed 3 batteries, yet problem keeps coming back.

What speedometer u using? Original?

vapor speedometer is rubbish,it seems water seep in through the buttons there...

Hmmm. Not sure if yours was a lemon. A lot of people using Vapor meter including me.

For me at least, no complaints.. Cos my odometer hit 99999 km. lol.

Mine in the first place when i get my bike it has that issue. I went to raptors it got sorted in a minute. My problem was that it was running on internal batt. Raptor just help me rewire it to live wire instead of ignition. So far no battery low issue. After that i have never experience any blank screen/ auto reset issue. Also no water seepage issue.

you might want to head down to raptors and get them check for you.

Any tips on the DRZ as a daily ride? Used to ride an S4, riding a Spark. Any advice on maintenance, spares, engine overhaul, FC comparisons costs would be helpful because those are the ones that would hurt my pocket the most. Don't want power, just a bike that would not let me down with maintenance.

The S4 ver S was bulletproof, literally, it didn't cost much except in tyres and in crashes but I could drag servicing to 6k in between. Could go up to 200km/h which was more than enough and decent street behavior, easy to ride and manuever if not a tad heavy side. FC was around 20-25km/l.

The Spark is unbeatable in running costs, ample storage with a box and basket, FC was around 40km/l, servicing every 2-3k, its awesome when it comes to filtering and dead locked jams, easy and light but a little underpowered in many cases, i find myself redlining the bike often even in rush hour traffic and feeling like it lacks grip, maybe due to slim rims and tyres.

I believe the DRZ falls somewhere in the middle? Thanks for the feedback.

Wah! Long time never log in, so many Zee riders out there. I am riding Zee from 2012. Wonderful bike if keep it stock with no mod. Easily can go 26km/l with good settings done and airfilter. Didnt check my air filter from the day i bought till recently and found it starts to become sticky (OEM). Changed to a KnN and FC and power increased. For maintenance wise, head down to Raptor at Bukit batok, treats your bike like his own and tell u the dos and dont. (I am not a salesman, I only sell standard stuffs and dont cheat customers like others do). Quoted by a famous DRZ racer who owns a shop. :p

Anyone bought the SML model and what is the approve exhaust? Cause I called lta and the new batch of drzs cannot use yoshi or any jap made exhaust. So I wonder which model of akrapovic or anyeuro made exhaust can I use for my drz to go inspection

Think I saw one fellow rider posted a few page ago that the newest model have some catalytic converter(not sure exactly) in the end pipe for cleaner emissions. Which is sad..

Just a question. Is it okay to ride my bike always with the fuel petcock at reserve all the time? I always monitor my tripmeter so i wont run out of fuel. I just wanna find out is there any other side effects if i do that?
