actually KaiRR, if the owner takes good care of his drz (annual valve clearance, monthly engine oil change etc.) The bike would never be a prob.

In any case, Im letting go an 08 drz which matches your questions. Do pm me if interestrd or if you want to know more.

Hi guys...need ur advice on issue regarding the coolant...

It seems my coolant overflow reservoir is close to being dried up...i understand that the level should be half in the reservior....i just only flushed and topped up coolant less than 3 mths ago... I'm not sure if this normal... just wondering if it has anything to do with radiator?..although bike doesn't seem to be overheating... btw frm the time i bought the bike, it seems previous owner took out the radiator guard and replace it with those horrible looking wire mesh thing...

Need advice..appreciate anyone who can help me out with this or ever experience the same thing... thanks!!

Cheers!

Bro,

you can try doing this...top up the reservoir to the middle [use premix coolant of the same type or distilled water (i.e. battery water)..try not to use tap water]...use marker and draw a small line on the reservoir tank....if the coolant level drop more than 2 cm after a ride...you have got a leak.

However, its normal that the coolant level in the reservoir drops after flushing as the coolant gets sucked back into the cooling system.

you can also check for leaks in the cooling system i.e. hoses, radiator, connection points and the radiator cap itself...

as for the mesh...some people install a aluminium guard...the original plastic ones are the best I reckon...hope this helps.

Yes... Not to worry. After flushing air pockets are trapped in the system. So naturally after you ride and the air pockets are displaced out of the system, your coolant level goes down. Just top it up and monitor as said..

Ride fast..ride safe..don't crash...

Hey bros snake_sin and ticks...

Appreciate your advice guys!... so i'm guessing it is normal for the coolant level to go down...

However, since my overflow reservoir is pretty much dried up as of today...I will top up again and monitor as you guys have mentioned...

As for the radiator guard, guess i got to buy back the original ones...or maybe see where i can get Unabiker ones...

Thanks again guys!...Cheers!

Why don't u like the aftermarket one? Some replace the original plastic ones as they don't offer much protection from flying stones..

My goodness.... Thanks alot man.

Those are very informative. Answered all my doubts. I tink I am considering to buy one already after so many negative feedbacks including urs. Though its my dream bike. sigh.

P.S. I can afford one but the maintenance, kills.

If you are planning to get a 2nd hand bike, be prepared to fork out a huge amount to do up the bike.

DRZ is definitely a very reliable bike. Other than the battery/coil issue, you should be very happy with the bike.

When i sold my 5 year old drz, the mileage was 98000km++.

guy im hoping to get a DRZ400SM by end of the year. is it a good idea to but first hand at ard 19k? or are second hand a better option?

been researching the bike and noticed the latest DRZs are still pretty much unchanged from 2006 onwards.

My goal is to buy a DRZ to keep and hold on to for a very long time. definitely more then 5 years.

Will definitely be getting aftermarket parts to improve everyday riding yet still be road legal. stuff like getting a better Meter, the usual 3x3 airbox mod but stick to the stock ACCT like Mr Angelo advised for the models that dont benefit from the MCCT.

Will not be going to track, just daily riding in sg, averaging 100kph on expways

racing in traffic...

Bro,

Well, I guess it depends on how deep is your pocket. If you can afford a new one, why not?

Also, if you think you will keep the bike for a long time, than buy a new one.

I bought a new one last year for my Christmas present for $17K.

Oh yes, the DRZ is basically quite a good bike out from the box. I have not done anything to mine till today.

Remember, carbureted bikes are sensitive to air/fuel mixture. If you think power not enough, get a more powerful bike to begin with.

As the saying goes "There are not replacement for displacement"

Just set up for rear preload and tune up both front and rear compression/rebound setting and you are good to go.

If you keep things stock (especially electrical stuff) and perform regular maintenance, the bike will last a long time.

Hope this helps...

Bro.. the rack in the pic is the Promoto Rackit top rack from USA... it costs about $180.

If LAB is selling this same rack at $80... its a damn good bargain.. unbeatable.

But the trouble is... I have had a close up look at the original genuine imitation copy duplicate of this that he sells. It is a very close copy of the original, the giveaway is it does not have the wordings printed on it and the poor quallity of the aluminium used.

Anyway... the rule stills stand as what is cheap is never good... you pay for quality.

At Raptor MotorSports... I believe in only carrying original DRZ accessories because I believe in quality.

Go to ST for your inspections... Vicom inspectors don't know **** and like to act like they are the LTA.
