The rear suspension may be set too hard on compression and rebound or your front tyre is worn.

Actually cannot really pinpoint your problem without looking at the bike...so what I mentioned in the previous post is based on assumptions and not facts.

A correctly tuned stock DRZ with stock sprocket set up should be able to hit 145 KMH at least.. max 151 KMH.

Frankly... the inspection centres are just another bunch of money ripping blood suckers who don't know what is form and what is function.

You could have just put on a dead meter for the inspection... not say that they dyno or test ride the bike down there to check if the meter is working or not.

Bro just buy and ride only, dont need worry soo much. Parts r easy and cheap to find. Imho most ideal bike to ride in singapore road. Once u go SM u will never go back.

i got my drz4 first hand. Had it for 5 years, tons of problem and issue. Suzuki sure has its reliability issue.

What kinds of problems? Have you had major system failures despite strictly following the recommended maintenance schedule?

I think new bike owners like myself could really benefit from knowing what to expect over the years.

Just the electrical part is enough to burn your pocket. They have serious problem with their coil. Despite, changing fresh oil regularly, it still got burnt frequently

That's one weird single case then. I bought my used drz at 4 years old, used it for 2.. Sold it recently. In those 2 years I put 50k km on it. The only electrical was coil and starter brush. One time each. And the previous owner doesn't look like one who services the bike regularly also. Other than that the bike runs fine. My Favourite bike to date..

Ride fast..ride safe..don't crash...

That's not an uncommon problem, but they're supposed to have a 2-year lifespan with regular (i.e. 1000km/monthly) oil changes. How long did yours last between failures?

What other problems did you also experience?

The DRZ is an enduro machine.. designed for reliablilty.. and long distance racing.

KTMs and Husqvarnas are race machines... meant to be undergo an engine overhaul with parts replacement after 15 hours of race operations. No doubt... they have very great power to weight ratio... but they just not meant for every day commuting.... they are meant for racing... out of the box. I know.. I own and race a Husqvarna 510 SMR.

All the DRZ needs is to change its engine oil every month.. and you have no troubles with the bike. Leave the stock headlight alone and not let some stupid mechanic connect wires all over the place when an aftermarket headlight is used.

Cannot understand why some DRZ owners willingly screw up their electrical connections on the OEM harness by adding this and that or some aftermarket **** that does not go with the bike... then complain that the bike has electrical problems. The problem is not with the bike... the DRZ in stock condition is a very reliable bike.. its the owners who are not reliable.

Some say that the coil is an issue.. its the infrequent oil changes that is the problem.... when you neglect the basic maintenance.. why complain when the machine give up on you?? Blame yourself if you have the guts to.. its easier to blame the machine coz the machine cannot answer back and complain about its owner.

I have customers who only changed their coil after riding the bike for 4 years.. on my own DRZ which I race and also used for daily commuting..I have only changed my coil once after 3 years. By the way... I have a client base of about 300 DRZ owners and service an average of 100 DRZs a month.. so I know what I am talking about.

How about a piece of harsh fact from me... out of 10 DRZs that I have to replace the coil... 9 of them had the KTM headlight crap?? And to date.. I have replaced over 50 coils already.

Nothing electrical will last forever... especially when you neglect the simple maintenance of even an oil change.

The coil by the way.. is cooled by engine oil.

Everything stock not even aftermarket turn signals. Oil change every 1800km-2000km with normal riding.

So this is call neglecting my machine??

That's weird then...it should not be happening to a machine that is this well taken care of.

Chill, bro. He's ranting, and has every right to do so having seen so much user neglect. :)

I'm with ticks on this: yours seems like an outlier, although I wouldn't push my EO changes to 2000km, unless its fully synthetic every time.

But besides that, what other problems? I'm truly curious here, what with the DRZ's reputation for reliability (a good part of the reason I got it, and why I'm unwilling to mess around with the engine).

Hmmm.. For my oil changes I used to do it monthly. And it was like 2500km or so. But cos I ride on expressway most of the time, when I change my oil its still clear.. So basically I maintained my oil changes @ 2500km or monthly. Whichever comes first.

Ya lets hear him out.. What's the time interval between oil changes, where were the parts sourced?

Ride fast..ride safe..don't crash...

Huh, still clear at 2500km? Your engine must be really well-seasoned inside. Haha.

Mine's a dark brown every time I get it changed about 1000+km, which is about every month. Bike's only 9 months old, though, so it could be the parts still wearing in.
