Thank you guys. I'll update again once the necessary changes are done. On another side note, will it stress out the bike if it were to be going at 120km/h for 3 hours? Me and my friends are planning to go for a mini touring but we're concern for our fz16 buddy. We don't want him to feel vibrations making the bike uncontrollable and uncomfortable. All of us have no experience in the 2b street bikes because we're all riding s4 for a few years now.

Not advisable for the fz imo. The bike will almost be revving at 7-8k rpm. Maybe break aft an hour of riding at tt speed. In fact should vary the speed as its not good for the engine to rev at 120kmh for 1h straight. The riders need a break too.

Hi guys,

I'm getting a FZ16ST from a direct owner. I notice that the heat from the engine block is a bit overwhelming. Is it a common issue? How can I check if the condition is at acceptable range?

Your kind advise would be of great help to me!

Hi for almost more than 2 years i have used my fz16( byson ) , the temperature issue from from the engine block ,for me its normal . But it also depends on the traffic condition . In indonesia especially in jakarta u will face bad traffic almost everywhere. And i didn't feel over heat from the engine block.

Hi guys.

Do you know where I can install a rack for side panniers for the FZ16.

Thinking of either Givi V35 or Hepco and Becker 40L.

Thank you.

Try this link

When riding feel like going to the left side instead of riding straight.. anyone can tell me why?

Hey bro, used to experience that. Let me share what i did with my old bike.

1) put on mainstand. Spin the tyres. Check rim alignment. Check tyre pressure and check the housing. Everything good and smooth.. move on to the next item.

2) Fork alignment. Rotate wheel slowly and see if the rim, fender and fork is not in contact. Everything ok.. move on to next suspect.

3) suspension/fork oil. (Mechanic expertise)

4) maybe it's your riding.

haha. But it's usually the first. Happened to me.

Hi guys,

I've bought a stock FZ16ST recently and I seek your advise on some modification and problem I faced.

1) Engine shut off when idling for few seconds when I start engine in the morning. (Battery problem or 'idling screw' not tuned enough?) even when I stop at the traffic light, the engine shut off sometimes in cool weather.

2) When I engage higher gear, sometimes I can hear a deep 'hiccup sound or burping sound' like buuup buup buuup. (Speed not enough?)

3) Anyway I've been using 1 '9Power' plug n go, would there be any difference in terms of pick up or speed? should I get more of it or would it damage my bike in long term?

4) I saw Wing Yap promoting their gen 2 CDI, should I get one myself as I heard it will improve its performance as well. (Will it drastically change my bike's fuel consumption?)

5) Which spark plug and engine oil is the most recommended for FZ16ST?

Your advise would be much appreciated!

I can only help you with point 1,2, 5 and only give u my personal opinions on point 4.

1.) This is 1 of the common problem with this bike, this is due to the fact that the engine is still warming up which cause ur rpm to be low, you either turn your idle screw to increase its idle rpm and then turn it down afterwards if you get the chance after the warm up or just start your bike and let it sit for a few minutes before moving off, this bike's engine is carburetor so it needs a much more manual warm up before the idle rpm becomes stable.

2.) This sounds more like your rpm is too low, might I know your rpm before you do a gear change? If not, you might wanna try revving a bit higher before changing your gear. This is assuming that your spark plug has no water contamination inside.

5.) I have not heard of any specific spark plug or engine being labelled as most recommended but if you want longer life span spark plug, you might wanna go for iridium spark plug, for EO, I have use fully syn all the time just that you have to take note of the rating. Try to go for 10W or 15W and not any lower. If you go for mineral oil then you would need to change your EO more frequently as compared to semi-syn or fully-syn.

4.) Personally, fuel consumption is based on riding style. The harder you rev your bike, the more fuel it eats. Traffic conditions will affect fuel consumption, if you travel in jams every time you go out, fuel consumption will be bad, but if you cruise comfortably everyday with a more or less constant speed, your fuel consumption will be at its best. Your travelling speed will also affect your fuel consumption, if you push your bike at super high speed every time, it will of course cause you to have bad fuel consumption. Sorry I am unable to comment on how CDI will affect fuel consumption.

bro.. this plug n go is totally of no use on the bike. neither will increase any performance nor damage.

Did you use the choke? When its cold, pull the choke to help it warm up, then when the engine revs become stable after about 1 min then can switch off already. Its the lever on the right hand side of the left hand controls. Pull down for on and up for off.

alright thanks bro! I need to calibrate back my idling screw as previously i was told to tune them. :?

shucks haha! I've heard it's for boosting some spark ignition flow to make it more stable. hmmmm

Hello. I've been riding super 4 for 3 years and i recently rode my friend's fz16. I have a few things to comment and i would like an input as to whether I'm pointing out is normal for a class 2b bike (is it just me) or genuine problems to look into. (After not riding a 2b bike for 3 years).

1) the brakes on it is kinda weak. Both front and rear. I've adjusted the brakepads, bleed the brakes, changed to helhose brakeline and even change to a new disc brake, but stopping is really weak. An example would be riding it around 40km/h and fully pressing the lever, bike gradually slows down as compared to a s4 where it immediately stops.

2) the clutch tightness. Changed clutch cables and service religiously but it seems very 'weak'. Could it be a worn clutch plate? It's just 2 years old.

3) main stand does not really put the rear wheel up.

Now before i get comments like "oh you should know better if you claim to ride s4 for 3 years" do take note that my last 2b bike was 4 years back and it was a modded SP with tight brakes and responsive clutch.

Please guys.. is it just me.. or is the bike problems I've described is something to look into.

thanks!

1. Front brakes are great. But of course don't expect braking like S4. It has 2 calipers instead of one. Rear brake is abit on the weak side but it's acceptable?? It's a drum not a disc...

2. Have you tried adjusting the biting point all these before??

3. Depends on where the weight is on your bike.

At 120 yes you are stressing the bike. But do take note that on NSH at such speeds the consumption will be alot higher. My fuel gauge was already blinking when I passed the 200KM mark. So better top-up and of course take a break. So I don't really think your 120km/h for 3 hours is valid... Vibrations can be due to alot of things la... An S4 going at 120km/h can also be vibrating...

i had done some research and sorry for asking 'lazy' question earlier on. heehee

1) i think yoshi can be install on any gen ba. i also wan to get one on mine. but quite pricey. about 700-900

2) always done service at JB racing boy. EO, oil filter, spark plug RM99(can say quite cheap although i nv compare SG price)
