Anyone have a similiar situation as me? My COE expired. I didnt ride the bike but kept it at home cos abit too lazy to take it to scrap.

Eventually I scrapped it but it exceeded the 1 month grace period. Now I have a court letter asking me to show up in court.

Anyone know how much the fine is roughly? Also can the charges be dropped just like road tax non payment if i head down straight to LTA and pay the fine?

still cannot man, whats the fine range anyone know?

court case all depend on judge, there's a range depend on what charges they want to charge u under.

Accident can happen anytime, anywhere.

However ask yourself, do you want to fall at 120km/h or 60km/h?

Bro, see ur GRC lead MP who is a minister. It's time they do something good for their residents to win more votes man....Hope u can get through this time...

this type of case wont go jail right?

Posted

Unlikely to go jail.

Can always give reason why didn't scrape within the grace period, and show that you already scraped by the time the letter to go to court came, so there was no intention to cheat the system.

Then act remorseful and ask for lighter sentence/ no jail.

Parliament is dissolved, no more MP till after elections.

Anyone can ride a bike. Being a biker, is a state of mind.

Yeap, like some1 said theres a grace period, given that you have a valid reason.

Like my neighbour recently, his COE ,road tax all finish, but since after the coe end date, for 1 mth nv scrap cus he was in overseas for work.

Thus once he came back, immidiatly go to LTA to explain and register scrap, next day a lorry will come to pick up ur scrap vehicle from ur carpark.

Hope it helps.

It's the owner's responsibility to scrap the bike within 1 month from the date of de-registration or renew the COE before it even expires. There will be 2 counts of charge once u are summoned to court, and the fine is usually about $800 if u are a 1st timer. U can request for postpone of court date for once if u tell them u need time to raise money to pay fine, usually 2-4 weeks. But better make sure u get ready the money to pay the fine before attending court, requesting for paying fine by installments will not be entertain.

Can we just give the frame and engine casing for scrapping? Keeping the other parts as memories?

What is the minimum parts required to scrape a bike.

What offense are you being charged? Court 25N? When is your court date?
