for me my bike's "FI" light sometimes flicker very quickly and the light is very weak. like lo batt liddat.

something like when i turn on the signal light, it affects the "FI" light and it sort of "share" the light with the signal light. i figured that it should be wiring as it does not happen often.

but so far so good... anyone encounter the same problem?

Last time I had this problem also....later found out from other forum that it was one of the connector that basly corroded. Then I replace the main wire harness and the problem solved.

My present experience. Is the result of my past action

Hi Jay

it good to know the reason why the FI's on. Below is the note that I cut and paste from other birdies' site

“There’s something funny going on with that FI light on my bird…”

The FI light on the bike serves a couple of functions. Firstly it lets you know that the fuel injection system is active on ignition and also lets you know of any problems with any of the bikes sensors such as the MAP senor (Manifold Absolute Pressure), BARO (Atmospheric Pressure Sensor), Knock Sensors, Level (bank angle) Sensor, Throttle Position Sensor, Exhaust Port Air Injection system, and so on…..

The bike does this by using the FI light as a means of communication between you and the bikes computerised engine management system, so if the FI light flashes or illuminates and stores these fault codes in the ECM module situated in front of the tail light (under the grab rail, at the rear of the bike). So do not automatically assume that there is a problem with the Fuel Injection system, because it goes way, way deeper than that….as this page will tell you as you read on…

UPDATE: Honda have recognised that on some bikes there may be a fault with the ECM unit, and/or the wiring loom. They have therefore increased the warranty on the wiring loom to 3 years and have agreed to change it on the Blackbird free of charge as a precautionary measure if you so wish….This fault can be traced by the bike sometimes cutting out in wet conditions or after a high pressure wash. This is a minority problem.

Get Mr Honda’s Magic Code Sussed!!

To retrieve and FI error codes , simply bridge the outer terminals of the service check connecter situated in front and to the right of the ECM module, as the picture below shows, WITH THE BIKE ON THE SIDESTAND:

The FI warning light system uses long (1.3 second) and short (0.5 second) flashes to give out the fault code. A long flash is used to give out the first digit of a double digit fault code (i.e. 10 or above) and s series of short flashes give out the second digit of the two digit fault code.

If there is more than one code, there will be a gap before the other codes are revealed:

Once all the codes have been revealed, switch off the ignition and (where necessary) remove the auxiliary wire from the service check connector, and identify the fault using the table above.

For checking procedure please consult your Honda dealer or purchase the Haynes manual, as we were unable to publish the checking procedures.

Can I thenreset the PGM Fi unit to erase ALL the previous malfunctions?

Well…er…to be honest if I told you I'd have to kill you! Nah, just joking! Information is supplied below:

1. Turn off ignition

2. Short the service check connector or the PGM-FI system using a jumper wire

3. Remove the jumper wire from the service check connector

4. The malfunction indicator will illuminate for about 5 seconds. While the indicator is lit, short the service check connector again with the jumper wire. 'The self-diagnosis memory data is erased if the malfunction indicator (FI lights) turn off and start blinking'.

It stores all the electronic and electrical faults for your bike. Therefore, it can be erased or reset if u do so.

Happy fault finding....:cheeky:
