Yeah about 5k for an FR version. First batch of EFIs.

Cool. Was initially lookin' at getting an R1 '03 although a shop quoted me 9.9k for it. 5k would be within my budget to pay it off without instalments. However, are there any known issues with the Blackbird?

Currently on the market....

1) Arkapovic(slip-on)

2)GPR(slip-on)

3)Scorpion(slip-on)

Left these 3 brand on the market right no, i've done my research this far, there is another 1 brand coming out soon, LASER. but not yet comfirm....

As for me i"ve already found what i looking for....:)

Cheers....!:cheeky:

im currently running a pair of cf scorpions. if u referring to the old stainless scorpions, yeah, they look kinda boring. but the newer models appear pretty trick.

so here goes my review: got them for abt 3 mths + now. the reason me buying them is bcos i intend to fit a pair of hepco becker sides sometime soon and so i was looking for lighter endcans to offset the weight. and these cf scorpions are lighter than light. ive never weighed them but i can lift both cans with one hand compared to using 2 hands to carry just 1 stock can. (ok im slightly exaggerating here but u get the idea)

the power is not really noticeable off idle, but u do feel a slight surge of midrange coming at around 4000+ rpm, with the baffles in. i took them off for just a day (each baffle held on by allen head bolt, making removal a 2 min job) & there was a lot of backfire, and pretty loud too. again, i bought these because of the weight factor, not so for the power gain. a stock xx has more than enough horses for me

however, for the first few weeks, i had to constantly adjust the cans as they were held on by clamps, not springs, and would slide out of place due to exhaust pressure. but they're ok now.

as for $, they're pretty affordable at ard $1.4k for either the cf or titanium. and being made of cf, u kno they don't feel super hot.

in a nutshell: power 2.5/5, looks & finish 3.5/5, weight 5/5, fit 2.5/5, value 4/5.

there goes my 2 cents worth of input. hope this helps.

oh, and i was hanging out wif some of the jln kayu xx riders the other time and quite a no. of them raved about microns.

for the backfire thing, its' because of lack of fuel....

It will happen when u closed ur throttle, for better air/fuel ratio, Power commander is the answer, or otherwise u might wanna go for budget wise, just go

Hi there, don't mind me asking, what's the price range for an old model Blackbird, probably in the FN - FR plate region, stock without any mods? I believe that is also the time when the Carb version changed to the EFI version?

FRs were the first batch of EFI. But the meter is analogue

Yeah about 5k for an FR version. First batch of EFIs.

Yeah u can get them for about that price. But COE is not included and you would have to get it from the forum. If u get it from the shops, COE is usually paid and the price is abt 8k... If u can get one FR for abt 5K, renew the COE nu may be able to get a small profit LOL

Bro I believe urs is a Carbbie. Wat u need is proper jetting to settle the backfire issues... the playing with the jettings would of course mean you would then have to change the advancer. However the carbs are sensitive to baffles on and off...that would explain the backfiring when the the baffles are off. Altho there is some truth to what bluewitch said abt fuel starvation causing backfire, urs could also be more of excess fuel burning off.. Too rich as opposed to being too lean... If im not mistaken at night, ure backfires would give off a very beautiful bluish orangish flame :gun:... The jetting would also make ure BB hit the sweet sopt much earlier say maybe at 2.5K rpm...By the way what is ure mileage with the Scorps on? If ure going touring (thus explaining the H&P panniers) perhaps it would be better to get the jetting and the advancer done to minimise fuel stops in between...As for the slipping of the pipe, i had that problem to with my RS3. what I did was tape my headers where the pipes insert on to with some hi temp tape making it thicker and you have a tight fight that would put any virgin to shame

like

1)Stevens rd

2)monza

3)PIE exit to BKE

Monza is like really screwed now with the traffic lights and realignement of the ERP gantry.... Wonder if the BB will hold up in the Gap (south bouna vista).. anyway i usually prefer a long continuous corner to twisties.. my fav corners are

i) SLE to TPE (double apex corner)

ii) ECP to coastal road

iii) Tampines Ave 2 to PIE Tuas

iv) CTE havelock exit (Suicidal with no escape route)

v) the corners leading to Coastal Road tanah Merah

vi) Lentor Ave to CTE late night

Go for the BB

Theres a reason why ppl who rode BBs always say BBs were the best

That also explains why there are lots of ppl who have owned more than one BB... common BB problems??? Same as with all Honda Bikes.... rectifier, alternator, timing chain tensioner... theres also an issue with BB regarding the clutch basket whereby in neutral they are pretty noisy but clutch in or engage gear the noise disappears... all of it is wear and tear issues..... Nothing really major unless u got ureself a lemon in the first place then its really ure luck rather then the fault of the BB.. All it would need is tender loving care and quite a bit of cash to get it back to its glory... oh yes and if u screw up ure con-rods... u have to wait for the part from Japan LOL.. then again not many people can actually screw their conrod or bearings... watever it is any second hand bike either from forum or from bike shops really depends on luck... try to go for one with few owners or original paintwork...
