hi fellow bikers

I need some advices, I wanted to make my IU detachable so that I only attach it only when I need it. Is there any gadget something like a clip which I can easily attached and detach the IU without using screw or screwdriver? If there is already a forum discussion can you link me to it. Hope to hear from you soon, thanks in advance.

Hi, I've made my IU detachable before on my KTM. There is this gadget that looks somehow like a telephone wire clip, basically all it does is too transfer power from your bike to power up the IU. What you can do besides this is to remove your IU from your bike and use a battery to power it up. Can put your IU in your bag when going under gantry. Please rmb that when you do this to your IU, your warranty for your IU will be voided.

I brought you my bullets; you brought me your love.

Even with this mod, I have no problem claiming warranty for my IU. Now I have the slim IU, and also with similar mod

When you get a new IU, one of the bar-code label will be attached to the registration form, and this form will be submitted to LTA to update their database. In the event of any ERP violation, LTA can trace the vehicle owner through the IU registration.

So if everyone goes around with another vehicle IU, wouldn't that defeat the purpose ?

Don't try any funny stunts with the IU because the ERP system very intelligent, and it is capable of doing much more than what the public knows about it.

agree with this totally... if IU can use on diff vehicles, i'm not afraid of my cashcard being stolen, cause the IU and the fines will be more of a worry for me.. (steal IU, drive past gantry, u kena fine, and lose your own IU somemore..)

I was told that even IUs and their positioning in relation to the bikes are checked for compliance with LTA regulations/requirements during the normal vehicle inspections at the centres. This info arose from my checking with a metal bracket fabricator on the possibility of locating the IU to the rear rack for a clean handlebar look. But the fabricator said that while he could fix according to my preference, I will not pass LTA vehicle inspection as LTA had laid down clear requirements on the placement of the IU, including the slant angle, etc.

Also, this fabricator also said that if located elsewhere, the IU may not be picked up by the scanners at the ERP carparks which is, according to him, a common problem faced by bikers who got itchy backsides.

Just my 2 cents' worth.
