I just clean my Air Filter the other day.

Taking out the side fender is a hassle.

The part where it is near to the signal light is very difficult to pull out. It have two steel clip and if you are not careful and pull out, the clip will fly off and you might lost it.

It is also advisable to take out the passenger rail first before you pull out the fender. if not you might scratch the paint.

Inside, the compartment have lots of screw, I loosen until my hand pain.

The filter can be water wash, altho its made of paper ( it is kindof like those type of corrugated paper. Thick).

Important: Put it under running water and swipe thru a few time. Do not soak, brush or scrub. After that put it out to dry. Important: Do not put it directly under the sun or else the filter will spoilt.

After re-install, my FC kindof improve abit. Will monitor and post again.

Above are my personal experiment, I am not encouraging anyone to do it.

Do it at your own risk.

I would also like to try out the K&N air filter in future.

Maybe I will open up my filter again after 1000km and see if my experiment is good or not. If its not then I will try the K&N one. :thumb:

Bro, after the paper filter is dry, did you put a little bit ( very thin coat of engine oil on your filter ? the oil is supposed to make the paper damp cos if too dry, the paper will tear under constant wind force onto the filter

As my bike previous owner did not change it ( very black an damm dirty when i take out, i found that the paper has tear here and there, then i bought a new honda original filter, open up and feel it, it has a thin layer of oil ( most stock filter has it in the package, thats why it is seal up to prevent the oil from evaporating or dry up )

so maybe you wanna take out and brush with a bit of oil.

above is base on my experience learn from a good bike mechanic.

bro, guess i cannot help you on that $$$, cos i buy the second hand is 3 year old bike. but have not regretted since day one till now, no problems at all.... i think you just need ot negoiate the price.

As for the bike, unless it is a lot of scratches like buang or bend fork ( accident before ) i think you can visually see, the rest of the mechanical parts should last very well cos i dont think anyone will wack SW till max speed all the way like a sports bike....

Have, have. Must put EO, very little. Dont soak.

use a small brush lightly dip in EO and apply to each filter.

The oil is not only prevent the filter from dryin up but also to trap dirt and dust.

I think for less than a year old, would probably cost around $9K to $10K. Just an estimate.

I got mine at a very good price coz the previous owner has some scratches on it from a fall and also he needed to let the bike go.

I got it 3 months ago so the bike now should be about 1 year 9 months old already.

Initially i was a bit skeptical as I rode on a 3 year old Amalfi for about 2 years with a lot of maintenance to the bike. (Almost every month I had to be in the workshop) So was worried what kind of maintenance the Swing might need.

But so far, the bike has been swell and hasn't given me any problem at all. Other than changing the belt, rollers, spark plug and EO, and tuning up the bike, the bike has been serving me well.

So i suppose the main thing you want to look out for would be whether is it a Euro or JDM model. Coz I have seen quite a number of them when I was searching for mine and they almost sound quite alike for say a one year old and a 3 year old engine.

Just my 2 cents. hope you get yours soon.

From the experience from other SWs rider who test their bike at NSH. They found Euro model mid range pickup better than JDM model.

Euro model also fare better at top speed. Euro model can hit above 170km/h ++ while JDM model struggle to go beyond 150KM/h ++.

The only thing bad for Euro model is that not many color scheme to choose from and no harzard light function.

So far I feel very happy for my current bike as there is not much maintenace to worry about. Unlike my previous X9:smile:

I think new bikes should be Euro model ba..

U can distinguish between the two from the key hole. Euro model ones are with the key hole at the centre of the handle bar, without the key hole cover function.

Yes, Boon Siew are only selling the Euro version(400cc), not the JDM version(400cc) which is a imported bike.
