Hey dude.. when is ur next lesson 2? If i'm around, i'll try to help u out. :thumb:

It's on the 13th, 8.15am slot. Will find you there if I'm early, I think I know which one is you.

I have the idea of what is supposed to be done for Lesson 2, but just lack practice. The instructor I had that day expect everyone to get it right the first time round, so no one dare to make any error. I wanted to find the biting point for the bike on the slope, but he was staring at me while I was playing the throttle so I just went off.

Same goes for the fig-8... and the crank course...

PS: For my own benefit, do you mind stating the procedures for the courses step-by-step? I guess mental rehearsal prior to the practicals will help me a lot. Thanks in advance!

I had the misfortune of being in his session. Did you happened to be on one of the night slot? Haha.

Perhaps he does have the student's best interest with his no-look-you-up attitude, but I'll say his zero-tolerance-for-mistake is totally the wrong approach. Learning motorcycles is about hands-on experience, so how can I learn without making mistakes? I was having my first Lesson 2 with him and he was literally having a go at everyone. I don't mind him behaving that way if it was my second or third Lesson 2.

That night was the first time I went back home demoralized and felt I could have done way more if it was not for him.

i think the instructor not fierce or anything, just that nowadays the teens very ya ya la..

so the instructor just wan to remind them that they r not kings or anything.

just wan to teach them the right stuff with the right attitude.

Melvin Leong is like this to everyone. He shows no mercy even if you are female, will scold you until you have no where to hide. Frankly I wish he would be a bit patient, because when you start scolding it's very difficult for students to listen.

Good luck and don't give up.

SSDC instructors still alright lah... I always joke with them... fall down / buang tree still can laugh together... Maybe I haven't met Mel yet... :p

There were 3 Melvin stamps on my training record booklet. He's ok, just a little stricter . 1 time for L6-2 ( He passed me on 1st attempt) and another 2 times for CR. (He is one of few instructors that really explain very detail on key technique on every station even on CR...... I only learn to appreciate when he tried hard to correct me N improve..even I feel that I'm "zai" already... I tried some his method, it works better than I thought )

If you have met the required standard, he will definitely pass u and let u proceed. You've take it postively on his teaching style, N improve on the pointed weakness.

I have also provided you the link in this forum on how to clear L2&3 (I survived through these guide). Just do a search, instead add on dannysg for complaining.

On last few pages of training record booklet for notes, I always write down mistakes I made on every single lesson and tell myself never do it again for self improvement. This is how I survived wth 1st attempt (8 points) on TP.

btw I'm not a young teenager, some of them who met me may know... so must really endure all the way to get your 2b as young man (complain dun help at all)....i'm looking forward very much to go back to SSDC for my 2A, counting it day by day...because if you really listen to these instructors closely N improve, you will passed @ 1st attempt. (my class 3 was on private instructor, so I can tell the different but not implying all private I. are no good)....

Scott10: behind the Scene, melvin is a very nice instructor, he is quite friendly but when it comes to teaching, he is very strict...

u are now in L2 nia, dont complain... because some ppls in this thread put in a lot of effort to pass each lessons. Especially for those who took more then 3times to pass all the lessons.

From the way u describe in your previous post, u make me feel that u are blaming melvin, but at the end of the day, i believe you did learn something, isnt it?

Áll instructors are very strict when it come to passing the students, u see them smile smile, laugh laugh, be friendly with you then u tot u'll pass... NO WAY men, it'll nv happen!

If u cannot make it tt day means cannot make it, they sure will fail you without any hesitation. this is because if they pass you when they feel tt u barely can make it, then u gonna struggle in your next few lessons.

Upz for this mentality.

Eitherway for those that didnt clear ur practicals smoothly, dun get angry .. Imagine how many ppl fail during TP test. For almost all the driving schools, 2b passing rate is around 40 to 45%. Meaning every 100ppl take the test less than half pass it.

These ppl all clear their prac 1 to 8 liao yet still fail TP, unless u think ur better than these ppl , dun think ur in any position to say instructor too strict to u... Prac fail wait a few days to 1 week. TP fail wait 1 to 2 months on top on 1 day of leave for those who are working.

So dun get dishearted or feel ur instructor is too strict when they fail you.. coz even if they give u a class2b licence now ur probably not good enough to handle the bikes u wanna buy. CG125 is just a learner bike where posture , biting points , power are all compromised so that u learn ur basics!

Haha, sorry if I sound like I'm whining. :)

Yea, did feel real down that day.

But to be honest, deep inside, I do acknowledge that Melvin did teach me something at the end of the day.

Maybe the other SSDC instructor all joke too much la, that's why I find him harsh and strict.

But yea, at the end of the lesson, he did open up... a little. :p

And to all riders, thanks for the encouragement!

No way I'm giving up, I'm not a goner.

PS: Gonna ride my gf on my bike someday, so can't just give up la! :p

Yeah you can wear shirt. Got to wear long pants and shoes though together with gloves and elbow and knee pads. The inner helmet liner can be bought at the foodcourt in SSDC.
