no, you only need to check right cos nobody will be coming on your left at that position.

From wad i noe, if ur going to do a right turn, and ur waiting inside the yellow box where the turning pocket (if there is) is, u check back right (as there is no kerb on right now) then move off and execute the turn. Actually for the test route, the only place for this scenario is the circuit part where u turn out from the start point and turn right towards the slope. Only 2 bikes allowed in the box to wait, the 3rd bike stay behind the stop line to wait.

for u-turn, if u r already out of the stop line with the handle bar and bike turned right, which applies for the first bike waiting for the traffic to clear, then check back left and continue the u-turn, since on the left there is still kerb.

Remember turn ur head and check back sincerely, even if ur eyes are looking in front. After my test, my neck feel sore from the checking back...:sian:

You're wrong there. Before u-turning, always check back on left and check blind spot on right.

Btw, passed my Lesson 6 on the first try! I think my group of 8 only 3 passed and the other group all failed. Instructors were pretty strict on this one. Was lucky at many junctions :cheeky:

saw this 30+ years old couple taking class 2b first lesson... sound really exciting if you can learn driving or riding togather with your love one

i agree! took my 2b a few months back with my girlfriend and we both passed first time... good to have someone supportive who will go to lesson with you because sometimes it does feel like the lessons will never end, so the encouragement is always helpful...

next step: buy same bike model and get matching paint job!

Cheap + fast = no good

Cheap + good = not fast

Good + fast = not cheap

But when I did that during one of the RR, the instructor told me that I should check back left as the kerb is on my right. His reason was that some bike might overtake me on the left and by checking left I will be able to see and avoid turning together.

if i remember correctly, the instructor also told me check back left, even if bike is half way out (first bike about to turn right). find it strange why need to check left. also if first two bikes at the u turn junction no need to check blind spot, only need check back

Maybe should say in less confusing way. From the stop line at the u-turn to the end of the kerb which i call turning point, there is a distance.

As long as from moving off to turning point, u have reasonably amount of time to throttle, check right blind spot sincerely, u-turn, u should do the right blind spot checking. Note that u check finish then turn, not checking and turning at the same time. Dun care ur the first or second or etc, same applies to all. If u already at the turning point, waiting for traffic to clear or the green arrow, how to check right blind spot?

Someone asked an instructor before...

Trainee: y sometimes need check right blind spot sometimes no need for u-turn?

Instructor: Need to check as long as u got time move off check right blind spot then turn. Judge yourself. Too close to turning point, not enough speed, u check right blind spot, wobble, then u get points for wobble plus improper or incorrect checking of blind spot. Same theory as come out from figure-of-8 and crank course turn left, u got check left blind spot? No right?

i suppose ur halfway out is where ur bike haven move entirely pass the kerb. But if ur already inside the yellow box waiting to turn right, and th instructor say need check back left, then u have to clarify with the instructors... bring out ur doubts... Usually in the yellow box waiting check back is on the right...

Wad they teach is subjected to the testers' requirement. My 1st and 2nd tp from start point is check for on-coming traffic on right and the convex mirror, check back left and move off. But 3rd test when i go back CR, was told to check for on-coming traffic on right and the convex mirror, check the exit area (whether the place where u going to is clear), check or traffic on the right again, check back left, move off and check right again for traffic as ur bike start to move. Applies to the t-junction before going to e-brake too. I was like o_O Head turn until abit giddy. :giddy:

He told us previous test alot fail coz of this... They asked tester, but in the end they lan lan accept... Coz the testers got their reasons, coz safety mah... So about the halfway through need check back left maybe is becoz of testers' new requirement... I dun know... maybe clarify le come back share?

Good luck for ur prac 6 anyway... :cheer:

Good luck! Just stay focused and remember all that the instructors mentioned during the briefing. Can't go wrong with that. I passed all my lessons first time from Lesson 3 Part 1 onwards; except for Lesson 3 Part 2 which I had repeat attempts.

I have been taking my bike for 30 mins ride around the estate nightly to get use to it. The first few days felt like I am back to lesson 1a in SSDC :( Engine stalled, bike jerk, forgotten to check blind spot, cannot get the biting point..etc What a totally new experience it was.

I was so comfortable riding the bike in SSDC that I felt too confident. I guess I have to remember what the instructors taught me and try to get use to it.

For those who just passed and wanted to get a bike, please ride safe and full protection gear on please. I looked damn ugly with my jacket and boot but safety first.

How I miss SSDC :(
